a word of advice: if you love psychological horror, especially silent hill, YOU NEED TO READ CRIME & PUNISHMENT. i understand how a 600 page book released 150 years ago in a format that doesn't exist anymore can seem off-putting or intimidating; i promise you it hasn't aged a day. crime & punishment can suffocate you with tension and anxiety comparable to any horror movie or game using words alone. the characters are oceans of beauty and flaws that will stick with you forever. without dostoevsky, there would be no shining, there would be no subahibi, and there would be no silent hill. read it and thank me later.

I'm very conflicted with this game because I think everything about this game is peak but the middle portion of it (worlds 2 & 3) is some of the most obnoxious stuff ever, worse than most of the problems of older 3d Sonic games. The vibes are immaculate though and the more serious writing was definitely the direction Sonic needed to go in so I'm happy this game exists. I'm happy I pulled through and finished this game, I think it was worth it in the end.

sloppy as all hell but the charm oozing out of this just can't be ignored
the vibes, the characters and the writing were all top notch but the gameplay I found to be lacking, the combat is extremely easy all the way throughout and driving around the town gets a bit tiring, also could have maybe used some more variety in the soundtrack but it's all worth it in the end for this one crazy fucking game
