Definitely not as good as Awakening. Plot was pretty middling, and I didn't feel particularly engaged at all times. I think if my brain was wrinklier I would enjoy this franchise more, but the tactics genre is still outside my wheelhouse, and I don't always have the patience or game knowledge to play effectively.

For a 2d platformer on the gameboy, this game is pretty cool. Perfect level of difficulty with enough forgiveness that I never felt trapped or lost my patience. And the music is catchy too!
I really enjoyed my time with this one. It was my first honest experience with a Kojima project and was frankly so cool. As others have said, its pretty insane this game is from 1998 for how in depth its features can be. While cutscenes may have overstayed their welcome sometimes, overall the game wasn't nearly as long as I was expecting and I craved more at the end. My largest complaint is with the clunkiness of some controls, but I imagine its just showing its age.
