A flawed yet very admirable effort that combines several genres all into one game while having a genuinely solid story. This game is a good example for of an nes game with a ton of passion but maybe not the complete budget to support it and that’s ok. This game tries and it’s consistently fun. You have elements of a shoot ‘em up, shooter, action platformer and even metroidvania all rolled into one. Having different segments cross the different style changes In each act. It’s flawed sure and doesn’t excel in its attempts but it’s still fun and very admirable while being cohesive. This game does feel like one big adventure and I appreciate the attempts at the story. Offering some genuine stakes and an interesting set up. I like everything this games attempts and playing a game like this that’s ambitious and innovative over other nes games is pretty exciting even if it’s not a perfect experience. Perfect game for anyone getting deeper into the nes library.

You float down rivers in a tube and throw beer cans at everything that stands in your way. Not much to it but they managed to take a relaxing activity such as tubing and turn it into an absurd and fun arcade game. It’s overall pretty fun but I do wish that when you died it would let you continue where you left off. Even if they removed continues I’d rather that over dying once then having to do the stage all over again.

Makes me goon like CRAZY

This game is fucking phenomenal. One of the greatest run n guns of all time. In fact this might be my favorite contra only rivaled by hard corps. Easily the best line up of bosses in the series and the perfect mix between challenge and fun. This entire game is one big endurance round slowly memorizing boss patterns and stage hazards over practically 100s of attempts. It’s brutal sure but never feels cheap. Everything is laid out for you. You never feel under powered or as if you need a code or power ups. It’s just you and the game and it makes for one of the most rewarding games I’ve ever played. Bosses take a fuck ton of hits sure but have predictable patterns. This game will throw waves of enemies at you to trip you up sure. Yet with the right strategies and pattern memorization you can break this game pretty quickly. In a way it’s like a puzzle action game. Learning the best solution to its many scenarios and boss encounters. That’s what makes this so rewarding. Even after getting my ass kicked several times I knew I was just a couple of well timed jumps or techniques away from completely destroying anything in my way.

Oh and the slightly industrial edge this game has is awesome. It’s not my favorite contra visually (again hard corps) yet it comes pretty damn close. It kinda reminds me a bit of Twisted Metal Black. Also the soundtrack is fantastic, best in the series if you ask me. The fact Akira Yamaoka made this industrial electronic and metal soundtrack after his dark ambient masterpiece SH2 blows my mind yet here it is and it’s absolutely incredible.

Since when did turtles explode man???

This game doesn’t deserve a place on the shelf with the good Mario games.

I agree with brentalfloss on this one.

The quality dropped off like some kinda Mario knock off.

Why did Brentalfloss make a fucking country cover of the bubble bobble song it sounds like shit and I hate it. Anyways cool game it feels like doing a bunch of psychedelics and and eating a shit ton of gummy bears. Sorry it’s kinda hard to write a review I’m trying to focus but listening to more brentalfloss as I write this is kinda driving me insane. Just like the game itself. It’s like spiraling into colorful insanity and slowly everything makes less and less sense. But who cares! It’s colorful and fun.

I fucking love this game lol. So much it’s just so cool. Is it the deepest fighter? Fuck no it’s kinda slow and plays fine but there’s not too much to it. I don’t care tho just look at it. Shit looks beautiful and it’s so up my alley. I love the graffiti cell shaded ass art style and this easily has some of the coolest and most creative characters out of my fighter. The slight rhythm game influence is cool as fuck too. Besides I still like how this game plays quite a bit. I like that it feels more simple and easy to get into. Really cool it feels like a great game to get someone into fighters or to learn basic mechanics. I do wish this game had arcade endings tho. These characters are so fucking cool I just wanna learn more about their lore. Really makes me wish this went somewhere but whatever I’m happy this exists and if I ever want an easy fighting game to chill out to this will likely be one of my top picks.

I didn’t play this on Wii yet for some reason there’s no option to selected nes as the platform.

ANYWAYS this games a lot of fun and one of the action greats on the nes…..also it sucks and I hate it. Ok let’s just get this out the way there’s A LOT of bullshit in this game. Seriously the enemy placement is a mixed bag and the further you get into the game the more you’ll be pissed off by it. Especially the respawning enemies. Thankfully this game is the most manageable of the trilogy meaning you can actually enjoy the good parts of the series. The fast paced kinetic action and the precise combat. Everything in this game requires just the right timing to get through and getting to the point where you’re speeding through levels slashing up enemies while wall jumping and timing your hits just right is so satisfying. This game is brutal and at times unfair but its gameplay is thankfully rewarding enough to push you forward. The story and cutscene presentation is very solid too. I can admire the attempt here a lot and even today some of the sequences really stick with you and gives you motivation to keep you going. Even if In many ways it’s just a cheesy anime or action plot and can be a bit generic for what it is I think it was done very well.

Cool game but it’s a complete pain in my ass and I hate it.

I’ll say this the first half is very good and even better than the first. Interesting level gimmicks while still being challenging and enjoyable. To me the game is both more fair and fun than the original. Beautiful graphics as well. It felt like I was being tested in some pretty enjoyable ways instead of just having a bunch annoying enemy patterns thrown at me all at once. That is for the first half. The first half offers some good set ups for the story and some fun action stages that rely less on the bullshit enemy placement of the original and more on interesting set pieces. The second half is when the god awful enemy placement returns. It’s pretty fucking aggravating late into the game and it quickly loses a lot of its fun factor. As for the story I commend them for the cutscenes and presentation because that’s all great. The story itself is very lazy and just a boring retread of the first but less interesting. Same exact set ups and plot beats. Sure the original is no masterpiece in storytelling but for the time it’s entertaining and gets the job done. They could’ve taken in further in the sequel but they unfortunately got lazy. Still I don’t hate this game. It’s extremely well made and fun to play. And tbh the first half is very fun and special. But the moment you get to the second half the game design gets even lower than the low points of the original and it’ll make you wish you were playing that game instead. Also that final boss can fuck off. Again it’s basically the same shit as the original. It literally repeats 2 of the 3 forms from the first games final boss but it’s just unfair in this game.

A worthy sequel that takes many steps forward and a few back. I wanna make it clear that I really love this game. Obvious from the rating. However I think this game in many ways does everything the first game does but slightly worse. Yet the original is so fantastic that a game slightly worse is still a great time. I wanna start off saying I like a lot of the new additions. Such as the casino setting and the new types of gameplay and scenario possibilities that brings along with the combo weapons.

I’ll start off by saying I personally prefer the mall of the first game over fortune city. I just prefer the more small town type of vibes but the more grand and expansive vibe of fortune city is quite nice. Similar to the first there’s a great effort to make the location feel real and tbh it feels like an incredible and vibrant location for a possible vacation or night out. That is if it didn’t have zombies everywhere.

Thankfully the zombies are just as great as ever. The way they move and interact with the environments/player still brings a lot of personality. Most importantly killing them is just as fun and never gets old. There’s a great variety of weapons both useful and novelty. What I do love is the addition of combo weapons. This is just so fucking cool and it’s fun to spice up combat. I do wish finding items for a combination was a bit more easy and some are way more useful than others (tbh the spiked bat was enough to get me through most bosses) but it’s still a brilliant concept and it’s executed really well here. Even if it can be time consuming and you have to find a work bench to make the combo weapon, the effort you put into making these weapons feels really rewarding and the weapons are really creative and awesome.

Will continue later

I love yoshi!!!!! Yoshi is cute in crayon land and the colors look beautiful!!!!!! Baby Mario SUCKS he’s loud and annoying! I hope baby bowser kicks his fucking ass. I love yoshi. This game is cute and adorable and fun and it’s like a big adventure and it’s one of the prettiest games I’ve ever played and it’s so soothing and painless and yoshi is so freaking friendly. I love the music and it plays like a chill puzzle platformer or something and it’s a fun as hell game!!!!! I freaking love the graphics and sound and everything is fucking cute and I wished I lived in crayon land.

I wrote this while drunk

A very calming experience. Something about the early 3d models combined with the orange and red color pallet gives this game a very sleepy vibe. The soothing sunsets and dark shadows are really nice. It’s a nice cozy lil point and click. Playing this game is like staying up late watching a cheesy old movie while falling in and out of sleep.

This game is butt ugly and plays horribly. The dinosaurs look like something Chris Chan would make with model magic. Clayfighter is ass and this plays just as poorly and personally this game makes me happy the dinosaurs went extinct.

Proto gooning game for the Atari. In this game you play as strong female characters as you lower birth rates by taking it in the mouth. Stunning graphics and in depth gameplay. For my 15 hour gooning sesh I bump some neutral milk hotel and played this game. By the 30 minute mark I already failed. Because I fell asleep. Because the game is boring. This game ruined my 15 hour goon session. Fuck you game.

I want to start the third impact.

This game ruined my life. I want Misato not this boring ass blue haired ass bitch with the personality of a plank of wood. I can take her to school, take her to the beach….yet she is unsatisfied! Rei Ayanami is a stupid bitch and personally I wanna kill her and all of her stupid clones one by one in comedic and over the top ways. I want Asuka to bully the fuck outta Rei even more. I want Shinji to man up and flex on his reincarnated mother. Fuck you Rei Ayanami. I’m tempted to BURN my Rei PLUSHIE in protest against this visual novel from over 20 years go.

Serious review: as a massive fan of the show I really wanted to find something to like here and besides the intro cutscene that has new animation and a great song there unfortunately isn’t much here. I guess it’s cute? Kinda? Idk there’s bits that can be charming and you might enjoy small things if you like Rei but you really don’t get to learn anything else about her or anything here really it’s just kinda shallow and boring. Feels like a cash grab and the dating sim elements feel misplaced and weird. This game is for the people who think Eva is just cute girls and big mechs. You see that’s only PART of the appeal!

Who up playin wit they worm?

Possibly the most epic platformer ever made. A completely absurd and ridiculous visual treat while being incredibly fun and experimental in both design and gameplay.

Incredible sprites and animation all around. Easily one of the most expressive and funny games of its generation. really it’s stunning just how much creativity and humor is packed into each frame. Not only being a very technically impressive game, but being extremely well detailed and animated. At times being strangely atmospheric just for the environments and backgrounds alone. Yet with the absurdity and gross out humor of a typical 90s cartoon. This game is obviously very stupid and crude on the surface however it feels like it done tastefully to offer a truly unique and memorable experience. Not just stupid for the sake of being stupid but stupid in the sense of “how far can we take things while still making it cohesive” type of way. Really this game accomplishes over the top humor really well and it’s clear even if what the artist is making is stupid, there’s still very talented artist behind it.

The gameplay here is a ton of fun here too. Offering what is essentially a typical action platformer yet with just the right amount of twist. Levels are sprawling and purposefully feel bizarre to explore. Yet the controls and core combat are very tight and makes the bizarre nature of the levels and concepts feel grounded.

Very stupid yet absolutely brilliant.
