This game is the pinnacle of production values for a 2D JRPG. Incredible visuals and voice acting. One of the best JRPG soundtracks of all time. Gameplay is overall fine, with a decent story and a big improvement from Octopath 1. Gameplay became tedious eventually.

DNF. Found the English translation awkward and frustrating, an issue I didn't experience with Ryza 1 and Ryza 2. May revisit in Japanese in the future.

This game is worth giving a shot if you enjoy the genre. I liked a lot of it, but didn't love it enough to continue through multiple playthroughs. I also strongly preferred the first half of each playthrough to the second half, found it hard to get over my dislike of a couple of the characters.
