Wacky and fun little game boy game. The gameplay might not be the most interesting as combat is literally passive (you just have to hope you are stronger than the enemies), but there's SO MUCH CHARM put into this game. The writing is good and the ending goes incredibly hard. For some reason this game never left Japan which is a crying shame because it's a good time. There's an english fan translation though, so if you can read this review, you can and should play this game.

neat little cute rhythm game about the keions. yui is cute. everything is alright in the world. There's a PS3 port as well (which is what I played) but it's less of a port and more of a PSP emulator with the game on it. Save files can even be transferred between games and I think you can. The setlist is all K-on music and the interface is charming. There's even fun little attentions to detail like Mio's charts all mostly using the D-pad because she's left handed. Not gonna win GOTY in rhythm gaming but its still a vibe. Play this if you like k-on. If you don't like K-on, who hurt you

Truly ThatGameCompany's magnum opus. I normally HATE desert levels in video games, like I groan so hard whenever I see them anywhere. They look boring and usually have the same bland motifs that do nothing for me. Journey found a way to make the deserts I despise so much both captivating and beautiful. Without saying a single word this game takes you on a journey(hah) to the top of a mountain where you learn the past of a lost civilization and make a living friend along the way. The art direction is strong, as expected of the people that made Flower previously. Graphically I have no idea how they made a game look this good on the PS3, it's probably the best looking game I have seen on the system. The sunset sliding section was one of the few times I was absolutely physically blown away by how good a game looked. Add the fact that the whole thing is very easily playable in one sitting (and I personally recommend doing it that way) and this is a game that I think everyone has to play at least once in their lives. One of my all-time favorites.

The original Jet Set Radio was a fickle game, luring players in with it's phenomenal vibes only to trap them in a game with floaty controls and a jank camera. This game does not have that problem. Compared to the first game, the controls are a lot tighter and the camera doesn't nearly have as many issues. That being said, this isn't a whole improvement over the first game, as the level structure for this game is more wide and open ended, leading to level design that isn't as polished IMO. Lots of tall vertical shafts you have to precariously climb up where one wrong move sends you all the way back down, and stuff like that gets kinda tedious after a while. Aesthetically it is on par with the original game, though I will say the licensed half of the soundtrack is weaker here than it was in game 1. This is definitely the most modern feeling JSR so it's an actual crime that this game has never been rereleased in the over 20 years since it has came out as of me writing this review. Wasn't even put on backwards compatibility for the newest xboxes, likely due to music I'd assume. If you happen to have an original xbox still lying around this is a must play for that system.

Ah, Jet Set Radio. I've seen it happen time and time again. People get interested in this game due to it's wonderfully timeless aesthetic, then can't stomach the actual gameplay. I was part of that crowd as well for the longest time before eventually buckling down and finishing it. While the controls are definitely floaty and imprecise, and the camera doesn't help tell you where you are going to land for certain important jumps, the game is still rather playable. Despite the control issues, I still love this game. I think it goes to show how important aesthetic really is in video games that this game remains ever loved so many decades later even after segas long years of neglect. And I think this game is absolutely still worth giving a shot, even if there's a likely chance you as well will fall into the same trap. The vibes are too strong for this to be anything other than a heavy rec.

as a big racing game fan, especially arcade style and futuristic racers, this game was on my radar. After actually playing it, it's aight. I think aesthetically it looks pretty cool, with comic book-styled character art and some interesting course themes. graphically the game looks okay for its time. I think that the biggest problem the game has is with its controls. You just kind of bump into things sometimes and that flings your dumb rider off of their moto bike and makes you lose a ton of time. Some of the courses are cool but there's a lot of reliance on a grappling hook mechanic that really only works some of the time, which can be frustrating. If things get tightened up in future installments, we might have a pretty cool racing game on our hands here.

funny enough little game. its mostly a comedic walking simulator and the jokes hit well enough to warrant a play. Not the most replayable as its the jokes obviously get less funny the more times ya hear em. I think I got this cheap on sale so I'd suggest doing the same.

Very VERY basic wii game. Honestly it feels like a mobile game that was brought over to the wii for some reason (which it honestly might be). It's probably more fun as a pick up and play sort of thing for mobile phones, but on console the experience is a lot more dull. It doesn't particularly do anything WRONG per se, its just that it's an extremely unremarkable game, all things considered. The concept of the game is just around guiding a bird that automatically moves forward by placing rope bridges around it to help it not die. The level designs are okay and do their job, but again the just level to level gameplay of this really just feels kinda cheap. Honestly I expected more from Yuji Naka, but I guess simplistic games is kinda what he strives for in design.

This game is what validated my PS4 back when it came out. Visually it still looks great with a lot of good lighting and particle effects. Either that or I'm still just easy to please. The plot is pretty cool too, as you play as some rebel dude tryin to overthrow the authority with his elemental powers. As your character can steal elemental powers from other people, there's a lot of different abilities you can use and can switch from element to element on the fly so that's cool. There are also moments where you hold the dualshock 4 controller sideways like a spray can to paint stuff and that goes hard I love dumb controller gimmicks. I had a good time with this one.

What a bizarre strange game. It's like a single player FPS battle royale where your goal is to be number one and the only way to raise your rank is by killing the other players. The game takes place in a big open world that streams in seamlessly off the disc which is honestly really impressive for the 3DO. It does mean the games framerate can be a bit chunky though. There's also a safe zone in the middle of the map where you can interact with various people including the boss characters, which are very 3DO-core in their design (if you know, you know). The controls are okay for the time but take some getting used to, as it do usually be. Definitely something I'm glad I've played and would rec to anyone who has a 3DO still lying around.

oh my god. this is THE game of all time. I can't really say much because this is absolutely one of those games where the blinder you go in, the more it's gonna hit. The levels start bonkers then somehow manage to keep one-upping themselves as they go on. The gameplay is a bit strange but works once you figure it out. This game is one hell of a trip and I'd seriously recommend it to anyone with a dreamcast.

2012

Logging this version of the game not only because it's the actual version of the game that I played, but also because it has the good box art instead of the uhhhhhh

anyways this game is super neat. You go through this wonderful looking lil castle place protecting your blind gf from the shadow demons by beating em with a stick. There's some light puzzle solving here and there, but this game is just all about the vibes. It's probably one of those "it either clicks with you or it doesn't" games, but thats aight. I enjoyed vibing with blind gf

Definitely one of those games that you see gameplay of and think to yourself "this is gonna be wacky" then it subverts all of your expectations. The game is like a 1999 internet simulator that really perfectly captures that sort of time period. You work in the shoes of an internet moderator, which is really unique both in terms of the moral dilemmas of moderating public spaces, but also is used for some interesting puzzles. I think that the third act of the game was a little unneccessary, ngl, but other than that I'd highly rec this game. PROTIP: you should probably get this game for PC, since the entire interface is designed around that. Moving around mouse cursors, clicking, and typing isn't very natural on a controller.

We got ourselves a project diva-like with a TON of very bizarrely picked anime. I went through the effort of watching every show that is represented in this game before playing and I will admit that was probably a more interesting experience than the game itself. Not really a lot of variety in songs its usually just the OP and ED for each show, and theres a few collectible statues and voice messages you can get from every character. This game got me to watch tesagure bukatsu mono and mikakunin de shinkoukei which were based and shit like no-rin, vividred, and arpeggio make good AMQ fodder against my friends, so I can't complain. thank you miracle girls, very cool

Disappointing for a neptunia idol game. Mostly character interaction based as I don't remember stats or numbers really playing any part of anything, and the lives themselves I think are less rhythm games or stat checks but more how well you can set off the stage effects??? Game doesn't really do a good job explaining that part. Really this game is more dating simulator where you interact with the nep girls than it is idol raising sim, so if you are in the extremely small group of people that wanna date some moeblob video game consoles boy do I have the video game for you.
