The game in its core is a rehash of every open world mechanic and if not for the setting we all would probably drop it after a couple of hours in. The world building really saves this from a disaster and my millennial heart just can't help myself. Flying on a broom around Hogwarts is just too pure.

The story is too long, the collectibles are too varied and not much fun. The combat system is actually really well made from the start, but it's kinda ruined by omega boring enemies who are just repeated to death. Every dungeon is just so boringly similar, it's probably the worst part of the game.

But again, the world is just too fun for me not to engage with it. It is just enticing enough not to drop the game because of its other flaws.

And fuck JKR of course :)

Polished to perfection, even if it lacked a punch of originality and adventure that I felt playing the first game. Surely if you give this to a person who didn't play Pikmin games before, it ought to awe them.

My first souls-like (apart from Hollow Knight), I wanted to do them chronologically and this game does indeed seem like a first attempt at something good. The concept "So hard that makes you become a better player" is sorta genius, but otherwise the gamedesign is at least underwhelming here.

Having to get all the info about stats/weapons from the internet, because the game itself just doesn't tell much - that alone is a very bad sign. To add to that, difficulty is totally unbalanced, game gets super easy after Flamelurker, some bosses are weirdly simple and that not even counting final bosses of the worlds, who are just glorified normal units. RPG element isn't very variative, most of the weapon upgrades are objectively weak. And the idea "Hey, let's make the player go through the whole level to get another attempt at a boss" is pure garbage. If devs are being edgy, and this is all for the sake of difficulty and getting good, then let's make all the games permadeath, then it's be sooo rewarding, right?

All in all, I definetely had my fun with the game, but hoping for something better in the next installments

Pretty much a perfect platformer once again. Creative, lively and funny, it provides enough good challenges to keep the balance.
I keep disliking the Mario heart system, it's absolutely unnecessary and I hope Nintendo moves away from it as they did in Odyssey. Also, why no 100% completion reward? Co-op mode remains a way for a parent to help a child and standees and online mode are way too funky. I'm not looking for a co-op experience in a normal platformer, but I'm certain Nintendo could come up with some great co-op levels if they wanted.
But these minor issues have no effect on the main gameplay here, it's fabolous as ever and keeps you smiling till the end.

It's honestly just bad, and the more I played it, the worse it got. It has all the typical flaws of sequels and basically nothing improved.
Levels are rehashed, new enemies and locations aren't particularly interesting. Removing time limit lessens the excitement, new pikmin are whatever, and the game is extremely punishing with no option to restart the level without restarting the game (really Nintendo, not even in the remake?). Caves are just boring randomized chores.

Instead of simple but effective story of a lonely explorer, we get a half-assed satire on capitalism which doesn't have a funny side in it, the game is literally about gathering resources for your boss and then it's finished.
I'm quite disappointed and I hope the next games live up to the hype because this one made pikmin mechanics much less fun and much more frustrating.

Decided to try the franchise from the first game, and oh my god what an absolutely brilliant game design. I couldn't stop playing and finished in one day. If not for it's short length and obvious capacity to be fleshed out much more, this is almost a perfect game. Excited to see what all the hype about next installments is about

2020

The mechanics are great, animations are quite satisfying, artstyle is really pretty. The game's quite addictive as it provides a lot to master. Even though I'd prefer it to be much longer, have more worlds and bosses, it's very creative how it finds ways to keep the player involved after beating it for the first time.

A change from the previous game, but I'm not sure it makes it particularly better. Still fun to play, but somehow it gets repetetive faster and it's easier because of all the additional powers the heroes get (ressurection is straight up cheating). Bosses are also much less interesting.

Everything is already said - a perfect game by Nintendo, once again.

fantastically cute, and most game mechanics are genuinely fun. a little unfortunate that the game runs out of new things past the first half but it's not too bad.
overworld, as always, isn't fun and I wish the devs would connect the levels more open-world style, it was totally doable here imo.
final-final boss is surprisingly hard, took me some time, but it's appreciated

actually so much better than the first one, I don't know what you're all smoking.
shooting's much more precise, plasmids are actually fun and their progression makes much more sense, loot is much better distributed. basically all mechanics are developed to an actual full blooded game. story is on the same level of "video game philosophy" which is, you know, fine.

the story is not THAT cinematic and thrilling as 2007 reviews make it out to be, but this is anyway a solid worldbuilding exercise.
there are several fun mechanics, but still gameplay wise this feels very raw. shooting's just bad, plasmids are barely required and the resources are too sparse.
overall it feels like half-life in an imaginitive new setting and wanky new mechanics

3D World itself is actually pretty good, even though it starts very slow, and when I say slow I mean that it's way too easy. Later it gets much more interesting and enjoyable.
Heart system is garbage, there's no point in them at all, they got that right in Odyssey. Overworld makes the game so much slower, it's frustrating sometimes. But overall mechanics and designs are smart as always, it is a good game even with its flows.
Bowser's Fury is a masterpiece though, 10/10, brilliant.

great concept and there are some fantastic levels, but the search system is so bad and nintendo could have added at least some original content

it's fun for a week and then it gets ultra repetetive
