the movement in this game is annoying and sometimes even pissed me off. level design is interesting but i had to look up playthroughs in order to progress- for example in foglast, which also happened to have some of the most annoying platforming i have ever had to deal with. i guess that playing on a laptop was also a contributor to this. another example of kinda bad level design were both minigame levels, especially the second one. maybe i just am impatient, idk.
despite my dislike for the movement (even if it mostly worked alright i think), i still enjoyed this game a fair bit. overall really weird, but i personally was able to appreciate its weirdness. also, i am a HUGE fan of the mediums used. knowing that the hands that i always saw while using gestures, things, or on some enemies were actually the devs hands made the experience really funny. i have to admit i often gestured whatever attack i was making in real time for the funnies. the claymations were pretty god damn awesome too.
the experience was needless to say quite unique. this really is the quirky earthbound inspired rpg! except that i never played earthbound, so i dont know if the hylics games are inspired by it.
^ this is the worst paragraph i have ever written
in any case- if you are ok with annoying platforming, and like rpgs, you should give this a try. its not for everyone, for many many reasons, but its worth your attention, i believe.

a bit too slow and somewhat boring sometimes, but i have to say that i loved playing this. the characters are silly, the story is pretty decent (for roguelite standards), there is a lot of weapon variety and a bunch of items and actives that are for the most part nice to use.
again, it is pretty slow, and has its own flaws, but i dont see why i should not recommend it.

in all honesty this game isnt really anything special but i think the story is pretty good and the gameplay is overall satisfying, so its ok. the inconsistent enemy ais are a bit annoying however. my favorite part of the game is the terrible architecture; on the second (iirc) level, the very first room you enter is a bathroom. imagine having a house, your guests come in and the first thing they see is you taking a shit! thats fucked. seriously though, i just find this funny. music is fantastic too

actually a pretty ok game, been playing this since the early access times and it has gone a looong way since it first came out last year. now that the full version is out, i have to admit that its more balanced than before but still requires some degree of skill. would recommend, although not as much as some other similar roguelites ive played. seems like i just dont like the genre much anymore. animations are nice though
