Sonic: Legends Arceus was a good skeleton for a game that I'd enjoy but it's levels and world are lackluster. I want them to keep this formula of an open zoned Sonic into levels but adjust everything else. The momentum and physics need fixing and the way it restricts abilities in the cyberspace levels is really strange. Animations are terrible, visuals are worse than 10+ year old Generations, very strange to see how far it's regressed.

I thought the story was convoluted and uninteresting and the characters talked to each other like they were in Family Guy cutaway gags every time they attempted to establish some kind of continuity. Despite this, it was refreshing to get an actual story in a Sonic game for once, ever since 2010 they've been scared to write anything more akin to the adventure games, always opting for a light hearted comedy with no stakes or seriousness. I enjoyed this feeling and I just wish the quality of the dialogue reflected the story's tone. I do prefer this over anything Sonic Team has written in the past decade though.

The boss fights were pretty rad and I loved em even if a few were kind of janky, this only made me disappointed when the final boss didn't meet the same standards, and the (ACTUAL) final boss being an Ikaruga reference was also kind of a let down.

Overall it was a very repetitive and unfinished game despite me enjoying the initial feeling of moving around the hub worlds. I want em to make more off this skeleton but adjust and improve it to be more of a full game.

It's good to be able to play it everywhere, but I really wish they kept the sprite art
