gets rid of the lame ass froggy and amy levels from the first game to give u just genuinely pure unadulterated fun all the way through. probably the best sonic game in my opinion and i say this having no nostalgic connection to it

i enjoyed it i guess but i definitely wouldnt ever play it again. the writing, music, and graphics are pretty great but the game is carried solely on those. when you get to a long dungeon its literal dong to play as the mindless battles and constant inventory management make the whole thing incredibly frustrating. its an important game legacy wise but theres a sea of better rpgs on the snes

platinums iteration of sinnoh is one of the best regions in a pokemon game, taking all the cool stuff in the original diamond and pearl, and ironing out all the bullshit those games came with initially.
the main problem is how ungodly slow this game is, which is unfortunately bad enough to take away from the overall experience. on top of this, you gotta deal with sinnohs 9 billion hms, that are pretty much all required. you're gonna have to haul around at least 1 of tropius or bibarel to use as nothing more than an hm slave, just due to the sheer number of them (most of which arent even useful enough to have on team members you care about).
if you can get past this though, the games pretty fkn great. definitely one of the best experiences mainline pokemon has to offer.
