I just can't be convinced that the ending is earned, at least not executed in this way. Unless there is some cultural divide that is lost on me, the people around at the end of the school year do not seem fazed at all about your apparent losing battle to a terminal disease. Everyone saying something akin to "you look tired.." is really, really underselling the gravity of the situation, and it doesn't help that your best buds show up in the best of moods at the end. It was such a disconnect that I did actually have to look up what really happened. I get (and appreciate) the angle that death is simply a changing of the seasons, but that doesn't necessarily line up with an ending this...happy? Then again, maybe the fact I'm this put off by it is a testament to this message.

I commend the rest of the game, though, for being the strongest in the series at adhering to its central theme and exploring it with more nuance---at least when shit starts really happening about 30 hrs in. This story isn't "reject authority, change society, and oh, FIGHT GOD too!" (P5), it's "we all fear death, and you too must now reckon with it". If P4 has the best central cast and P5 the best world building and aesthetic, this is P3's biggest win in addition to its confidants. I was thoroughly entertained by every one.

Goddamn, that was beautiful. I don’t know which game is my favorite, but I really loved that.

Played the shit out of this as a little kid. I remember beating Chick Hicks was like one of the greatest gaming achievements to me back then.

Nostalgia Bait
Back already? Resident Evil 5 had 2 story DLC's, filling some empty things from the main game itself. This first one, Lost in Nightmares is a prequel, telling the story of Chris and Jill's assault on the Spencer mansion to capture Wesker.

The story is pretty basic and weak just like the main game itself. Characters are the same. Chris, Jill and Wesker are still empty characters with no character development. So story and characters are pretty weak.

What about the gameplay itself. That's bad too. The first half of the DLC is a huge nostalgia trip but it's actually more like a bait. It was good seeing all of those familiar locations again but we didn't do much. In the first half of the DLC, there is almost no fighting.

You just explore and solve puzzles. Again, it's very nostalgic and one thing was very very very nice, playing that scene in co op changed the experience a whole lot more than I expected but again, the first half is just pretty boring.

Second half introduces much more action but this time, it's more about running and luring monsters into some places to finish them off. Because you don't have your weapons. And after that, there is a final boss that is just, bad. What you need to do is not clear and if we did the right thing, then the thing you need to do is stupid.

This was a very short review I know but there is not much going on with this DLC. If you are a fan, that definitely purchase it, there are moments where you will be pretty excited. But other than that, no. It's short, doesn't have much action, it's just a little thing for fans.

pretty fun co-op game
but tbh the weakest in the resident evil series

Absurdly phenomenal, and somehow manages to live up to the OG.

Nice atmosphere, the rest is okay. As you probably know, the game mostly consists of walking through corridors. I did still enjoy the main campaign, but things got old fast in the DLC.

The classic RE4 is one of the most nostalgic games for me, and this one is way better than the original in every single aspect. 10/10 for me, what a great remake!
