A well thought out and well executed game with an intriguing and interesting story which kept me moving from one dilemma to the next, with choices and dialogue which actually made me really think about what was being said. Some can feel a little profound, but given you’re dealing with things like Gods I think that is fair game.

I played this all in 1 sitting and got (what I think) was the longest/truest ending. The map feels big enough to explore and easy to remember, but not too big that you’re traipsing around when bouncing between different quests.

The performances within the game are nice enough if not a little bit read at time, but generally I like the amount of character which was coming from the 20 or so characters portrayed.

I think the premise of the game is super interesting, which probably helps as I have some interest within the genre of ancient gods, but generally I think anyone could pick this up and enjoy themselves. The game play is simple enough that you don’t need to think about it too much.

A game with a lot of beautiful ambience and wonderful character performances. It lies well with what I have been aiming for recently and that is shorter games with an engaging story and well performed characters.

The audio side of this game is stunning. The score and audible vibe which was created when exploring and going through the game felt truly unique and really added to the whole experience of the game. Adding on the performances as well, in particular Neil Newbon as Isaac. He delivered a truly stellar performance which was full of nuance and dynamics, and one which got better and better as time went on. The last 1/3rd of the story with this character was really some of the best aspects of this game.

The story was engaging enough given the time of completion. Sure there were maybe some holes within it and I have not played the first game, but I don’t think you necessarily had to given what I had read. I backed the main character and welcomed the challenges she faced morally and from her companions. Some parts were truly sad and other were challenging and powerful.

Gameplay wise there isn’t tonnes to it, but the different puzzles engage your brain somewhat, and the climbing mechanic had a relatively low ceiling but was well executed and offered some decent challenges.

If you’re looking for a shorter game with great performances, beautiful score, and a story which will keep you moving from one scene to the next then I would recommend this!

The hitch in gameplay mechanics really helped move TLOU:P2 into a new place for me, the game feels so nice to play and is satisfying whilst also being challenging. I played this right off the back of playing TLOU:P1 and am grateful and thankful (to myself) for doing so.

A lot of people seem to get hung up on the change of characters and change of tack from TLOU:P1 but honestly this game still remains in the field of being a must-play for anyone interested in beautifully crafted storytelling. The jump from one set of characters to the other may seem jarring and at times leave you yearning to return to the original story, but the rollercoaster which is presented to you in the form of the darker of the two storylines and how they drive closer and closer to meeting at multiple times is truly brilliantly done.

I know this game gets a lot of hate, but I implore you to try it for yourself with an open mind and trust in Naughty Dog to deliver another mind-blowing experience, which they truly did.
