A curious Metroidvania. It doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but both the combat, aided by your special powers, and the platforming are decent, as are the visuals and music.

I remember playing this...actually IDK. I went to go check when I talked to someone about this game on Discord but couldn't find it. I wasn't a fan of the game and thought people were just overrating it. I decided to give it a 2nd chance and I actually finished it and enjoyed it.

Apparently every version of this game is different which surprised me because this still feels like an MSX game to me. It's got a variety of projectile attacks and ESP moves to help you get to the end. One tip I'll give is getting 1,000 points refills your ESP so getting the B icon is worth doing.

I do wish the game had more levels because there's only four but the levels are a good length to be fair. I'm not too big on the lack of i-frames but the game isn't too challenging. By the end you feel so unstoppable especially with the barrier. I still don't really get the point of the one that takes you back to the beginning of the stage. Even the bosses are decent but are pretty easy with the final boss especially being easy. Even the main bad guy is a scripted win but it don't bother me.

If you're looking for good Game Gear games to play, this might be one worth looking into. Oddly the Japanese version is completely in English which I don't really understand why. A fun action game that once you get used to can be a good time. Wouldn't mind replaying this in the future.

At first I was like 'oh this is a valis style thing' but it kinda felt like this weird hybrid of mega man with almost a dungeon-crawling-esque approach to linear platforming. The MSX roots really scream out as you dig deeper and it has some bizarre rules for how to approach things. Both ''''''final bosses'''''' are just, baffling. What Were They Thinking

I couldn't label anything it does as 'good, but it's a clever little nugget that stands out in the MS/GG library. Sometimes a game's hook is as simple as techno-infused girls hitstun-spamming jrpg monsters with a spread gun.

What at first appears to be a pretty fun platform shooter in the same vein as Mega Man, Psychic World's MSX origins become increasingly apparent, with its level design and movement being its greatest weakness.

Control is quite finicky with movement physics being pretty slippery, made apparent by our heroine deciding to go into a full sprint after a few seconds of movement. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything to distinguish when this speed-up will occur, so it will get you hurt more than a couple of times. There also aren't any invincibility frames so with some bad luck you can lose half your life in a few seconds by sprinting right into a hazard when you least expect it. An invincibility power-up is there and should be used regularly to compensate, but I'd think the game should just be designed more fairly rather than forcing players into using a power-up for balance. Luckily, bosses are pretty simple, for at least half of them you can just stand right next to them and be completely safe. Level themes are also pretty generic but it's passable I suppose.

I did like how the powers you get from said bosses are incorporated into the levels; freezing waterfalls to make ice platforms seems basic enough, but it's something I didn't expect. The final boss(?) is also surprisingly cinematic for the platform and was a decent end to a pretty mediocre MSX conversion. it would definitely be a better fit on the Game Gear, but for a console release, it's just OK really.

I had an absolute blast with this game! The art is really cute; I love these little handheld sprites. Everything reads very cleanly.

The main sort of mechanic is that our gal has all sorts of Mega Man esque powers (fire, sonic waves, energy, ice, etc), but also a floating ability and a heal!

I played using Save States to get through after smashing my head against the wall on the difficulty (there's a LOT of unavoidable or cheap damage here), but if you're playing it "honest", a pro tip is that the healing ability grants a very generous invincibility shield. I'm sure you could just abuse that to your heart's content.

The joy here is just in playing as this cute sprite bopping around and shooting stuff! It's a load of fun.

A couple other quick tips:

- Down + jump button opens your little menu
- When you get to the big brain area, you have to hit it once with each weapon, cycling through them. I think it was three total cycles of each weapon. It'll flash white to mean you've hit it, then switch to the next weapon.
