Sitting down at the computer like this, desperately suppressing the urge to go on a multi-paragraph tirade about Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga’s role as an ur-text of modern consumerism; an artless and godless capitalist confluence point that embodies all that is unholy and unhealthy about video games, children’s toys and Hollywood licensing - and then serenely closing sixteen tabs of free-market philosophy and commercial hauntology to write, simply:

This game was one of my favorites as a kid. I love Star Wars and as a kid I really loved legos and even had a few lego star wars sets, so when i saw this game at Big Lots(Yes that store sells games, im not sure if they still do but i remember getting games from there whenever it wasn't pre owned gamestop games) I knew i wanted it. When i got it, I loved it so much. Playing throughout the prequel and original trilogy was so much fun and I loved freeplay and just playing as different characters throughout the movies was so cool. I loved playing as yoda because i just liked the way he would run around with his lightsaber and the noise he would make when he died, it was so FUNNY i loved it. I loved the cantina being the hub world and loved listening to the band. The comedy in this game is so funny i fucking love it. This game is just so fun, it reminds me so much of my childhood.

Genuinely depressing to return to this one.

I've always preferred the original versions of the two games, but this is the most convenient way to play through them now. However, the new mechanics added in the second game do not gel very well with the first one. The prequels had a very quick and linear progression, but now with all these extra elements they're filled with busywork.

But honestly, above all else, I never realized just how simplistic all mechanics in these games are. And there's little to no challenge. Essentially it ends up being a collect-a-thon. Which isn't terrible if you play this in hot-seat. After all, the best thing about Lego Star Wars (and what made it so appealing back in the day) is how it takes you through the entire Star Wars saga. And it's filled with unlockable content and easter eggs. I think, as kids, we probably kept playing just to unlock everything. However, now, as I see how similar all the unlockable characters play and how pointless many of the items are, I don't have the motivation to play.

It still has a strong atmosphere, which is the saddest thing, because the way it looks and sounds sends you back to your childhood, when you played this on a sunny day with friends, having no worries or responsibilities. And that's the key word here: "play". It was a platform for you and your friends to goof around and waste some time together, inhabiting one of your favorite universes. But now, as you're running around in it alone and quietly collecting coins, the game no longer serves the function it once did. Now it strangely feels like a ghostly replica of its former self.

A game only for kids, perhaps. A product of its time. Like many MMOs which now feel empty, it can continue to exist only in memories.

lego star wars the complete saga is objectively the best video game of all time, at least according to Mr video games himself, Mr Miyamoto. got this when i was like 6? fell in love like god knows how many millions of other kids. i think this game has the strongest set of rose colored glasses i've ever had on a piece of media. i can recognize it objectively has flaws, but my brain simply does not recognize them while i play it. i'm simply a kid again. i'm glad tt games has been succsessful for decades off of the lego games, but literally nothing compares to this and lego batman one. the ultimate children's video game. something i willl definitely show my kids one day. vehicle levels FUCKING SUCK though.

This is without a doubt the best way to experience Star Wars as a video game and I am not joking. No other Star Wars game comes close to the level of polish this game has. There is an insane amount to collect and it explore before finally getting 100%. Rarely do you see a game nowadays come with a completion % display in the hub world. Collectathon fans and Star Wars fans (high crossover rate there) should play this game to the fullest. Mechanically simple and smooth to boot, but rarely has its disinteresting moments. EXCEPT FOR GUNSHIP CAVALRY IN EPISODE 2, WORST LEVEL IN THE ENTIRE GAME

I bought this game a few months ago because I had vivid memories of playing it as a kid over at a friend's house. I used to love it back then but never had the chance to play it on my own let alone finish it.
So, I used the power of adulthood and got what I didn't as a kid.

It was pretty decent fun for the first three episodes, but halfway through the game, it did start to overstay its welcome with its incredibly repetitive gameplay and exhausting collectathon aspects.
It's at best a very casual platformer re-telling abridged versions of 6 Star Wars films and at worst an incredibly mundane bore.

It also didn't run very well at points which is odd. Just random hiccups where the game froze or cutscene audio de-synced. It's not really a visually complex game, so I'm baffled by that.

LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga is, without a doubt, my favorite LEGO game until this day.

Fun, creative and shows respect to my favorite movie saga, more than any shitty sequel.

10 years later, I still have a lot of fun playing and wanting to be a True Jedi by 100% it.

Honestly as close to perfect as these LEGO games can get. Stellar level design mixed in with addictive, easy to understand gameplay - the perfect "just pick up and play" game while also having enough depth to be enjoyable for nostalgic older folks. Very rarely are games like this accessible to literally everybody but if you are looking for a game to play with your kid/younger sibling and still enjoy it the same amount, this is it.

Plus it's as Star Wars as Star Wars can get, representing the first six movies with a great mix of humor and reverence. There is a love for the entire saga here so no matter which one is your favourite film you are gonna have a fun time here. A classic collectathon.
