Due to the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries being added to Nintendo Switch Online, I was in the mood to play some old Nintendo games. Plus, NSO can keep me busy with games this year. So I figured I might as well get around to fully beating Super Mario Bros.
Pros:
-The varying types of enemies is nice and can get you to strategize your approach at times.
-The levels themselves are cleverly designed with new layout choices to spice up the gameplay as it goes on.
Cons
-The movement of Mario can be a bit slippery at times. There were numerous points where I died from slipping into a pit.
-The lack of continues is confusing, but this was a game from 1985, so I guess it was something they didn't think of yet. I played this game through Switch Online, so I had to use save states a lot.
There isn't that much I can say about this game since it's so simple, but that won't stop me from saying that it was a quick and fun playthrough and deserves to be remembered as one of the most important video games of all time.

Did a Mario Marathon of all the games up to Super Mario 3D World (no Odessey yet) and I thought I might as well logged them in here.
Without getting into the historical impact of this game it is still a pretty fun platformer. Obviously the controls are nowhere near as tight as later titles but they were transcendent compared to the rest of videogames back in 1985. It's a perfect length of a game with an era and the warps make it very easy to blaze through in one sitting. Overall this thing is still pretty cool even if it was a just one step for the great stuff to come later.
There was a old flash game called Super Mario Crossover made by I believe Exploding Rabbit that threw all the other classic NES characters into the full Super Mario 1 game that I remember being really cool. Unfortunately flash is dead on modern browsers so I don't know if there is a way to play it now. If you can, seek it out!

wahoo itsa me a super classic mothafucking mario
Forever a classic of its time, and even then it's still playable; much of it hasn't aged poorly in this slightest and is the hint of video game design clicking during the third generation of consoles. Many NES games went hard on its designs, some even almost impossible to beat. This one stood out of the rest for being timeless.
