Replaying it for nostalgia and it really is an absolute banger of a season. It adds such a complexity to this solid but uncomplicated series. It ditches what didn't work about previous seasons and highlights what does.

What really works is just the thesis of the very story. The series has always been good at sticking with gags that you'd think would be one-offs. Season 3 escalates by just keeping the camera on these two goofballs as the jokes melt away and the real consequences they promised you start to set in. And when the jokes vanish you're just left with the real heart of it all: the two best friends who want to go adventuring together and how that bond refuses to break in spite of all the ways its bent. A perfect ending without an equal.

Me always knew the final game in the trilogy would end up with Sam ending inside Max after milking him. It was the clear the foreshadowing was pointing at

I know somewhere else where the devil plays.

Standard Telltale point and click adventure game that holds a lot of creative, though zany, charm. It’s an odd duck that I enjoyed through and through. I mean I’ve never played a game where I’m a Detective Dog and Psychopathic Bunny, who’s been kidnaped by a space Gorilla looking for toys and get to play as a giant Cthulhu bunny monster at the end of it all. Most of the puzzle solving is standard fair, but I enjoyed the story and characters enough to become interested in the Sam & Max IP overall.

This game goes out to the LGBT community

Another couple of years does wonders for Sam and Max's visuals in this third installment of the Sam and Max series, but it was actually my least favorite, contrary to popular belief it seems.

It's certainly one of the more consistent series I've played and The Devil's Playhouse is just more fun, crazy, zany, and an instant classic.

peak of the series, although the ending is bittersweet, I loved playing through every episode, all of them incredibly memorable in their own way

The pinnacle of the Sam & Max games. This game is amazing, the vibes in this game are killer and the countless references and shoulder bumps the game does to the nerds in the crowd are so endearing and wonderful. This game was made with so much love and care.

A strong finish to the trilogy, glad Telltale got that out of the way before they went under.

New puzzle elements are tedious. Jokes don't hit as often. Movement and menu usage is more confusing. Story arcs are a flatline, despite the events depicted being large in scale. Felt tiresome by episode... oh, episode one. Oops. Overall, The Devil's Playhouse kinda puts me to sleep. Sorry!

I'm sure they'll return eventually but this was an outstanding ending for the Sam & Max series. Funny, emotional and entirely original, with great puzzles and even better character moments.

okay. Hoooo boy. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!! overarching plot is good, very funny writing, but then OH NO!!! MAX FUCKING TURNS INTO A MONSTER AND THEN DIES AT THE END OF THE GAME? AND GETS REPLACED BY AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE VERSION OF MAX WHERE SAM IS THE ONE THAT DIES? WHAT????? if future games are canon to the timeline then our max is literally just Gone???? it fucks me up every time i think about it.
also, the entire sam noir segment really got me all up in my feelings. that and the end credits of the game really goes to show how much sam cares about max. omg it hurts my soulll
OKAY, about the actual gameplay, one of the reasons i liked this game the most was because i thought the toys concept was sooo cool, both gameplay wise and lore wise. thinking abt this game makes me really excited for the remaster that was announced for this year... i dunno if it will really come out in 2023 since we're already in october, but i hope it does. i will be there no matter what!!!!

god. cant wait to see max die in hd

As sad as it is that we may never get a new Sam and Max game at all, they at least went out with an absolute bang.

Open the box... IF YOU DARE!!!!

The final Telltale season doesn't disappoint, either. The stakes are higher, the jokes are funnier.

Great story, funny characters, and a great conclusion to the trilogy. I cant wait for the remaster.

Telltale hits the perfect balance between cinematic presentation land and adventure gaming goodness with these five episodes. The game is witty, full of pulpy action and memorable gags, and while the puzzles tend toward the easier side, it never feels mindless.

I didn't enjoy the humour quite as much as the last two games but the Toybox gives a new dimension to the puzzles that keeps it fresh. Also has a much stronger dramatic tone that reaches it's peak at the ending which was cool to see. I prefer the more relaxed vibe of the games that came before but it's good they mixed it up a bit.
I'll never forgive myself for not pre-ordering for Max's Severed head in TF2 and getting a nice payout years later.

The last, and best, season of Telltale's Sam & Max. It takes a departure from the last two by providing a unique twist for each episode and introducing permanent tools for the Freelance police's arsenal in the form of the toys of power.

not at all what i really expected or wanted out of a sam and max game honestly. too lovecraftian horror-y and not as much fun wacky haha times-y. It seemed like the plot was trying to take itself more seriously than usual with this series, and that's not very fun I guess. Sure season 2 had some satanic shit goin down with it but it always felt like they were playing it for laughs whereas this felt more genuine with its lovecraftian nonsense. The new graphical engine looks great and the UI is not only more dynamic but also works well with a controller for those playing on console. Not my favorite, but sam & max is still sam & max at its core.

Tirando uns puzzles que não fazem sentido as vezes, a história é bem maluca e divertida.
