US SNES version on a Wii emulator using the Tatsunoko vs Capcom Arcade stick.
I played through this as Haggar, not sure if it was on Normal or Easy, but I saw the ending without using all the credits you’re given. The graphics are solid but unspectacular, what music is there is good (heavy basslines) but the three main themes are overused throughout the game. Even the last boss didn’t get a new theme! Gameplay was pretty good I thought. Haggar is a lot more swift in movement than in Final Fight 1 for the SNES which I tried briefly beforehand. He had a good variety of moves such as throws, dash attack and supers.

TRUE GOAT 🐐

Further refinements in addition to 2's small fixes make this probably the best of the trilogy on SNES. The ability to run and the expanded moveset really help this feel like a bigger upgrade than 2 was to the original. It also feels as though levels are less drawn out and enemy variety is improved upon, with at least one new enemy being introduced per level until the final stage.
It seems like it didn't sell well or see great reception though, probably because it was released as late as 1996 in Western regions. I could imagine by that point people would have rather seen a port of one of Capcom's other arcade beatemups, such as Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Alien vs Predator, or Armored Warriors. Whatever the case, this remains a solid product in its own right. Definitely the best pick for Final Fight at home, but I can't help but continue to prefer the arcade original over it. I think that game sets a crazy high bar for 1989.

Another great sequel in the trilogy, introducing ass kicking player ladies continue with Lucia this time, another great memorable babe. I quite dig Haggar's design here and return of Guy! Gee, why did the devs decide to make Cody get thrown into jail in SFA anyway? Oh well, either way, this is another good one, in some aspects I prefer its variety and how the game feels better, feels less bullshitty but I might be misremembering. But in some places FF2 felt better. Unlike SOR, I don't have a clear preference or fav in this trilogy but these are all fun in their own way.
Final Fight 3 is a big improvement over the previous games in the franchise.
First of all, we've got four characters to choose from, each with their own unique moveset and multiple special moves. I can't believe I'm saying it, but this game actually has more than just one special move; not only that, but you can also run if you double tap the forward button and do a backflip if you double tap the forward one to avoid enemy attacks. You can also do a super special move that can completely destroy enemies once your gauge bar is full with a combination of buttons. It's kind of hard to pull off, but it's really satisfying when you do.
It's not fantastic, but it makes the game genuinely enjoyable. Enemy variety has also been improved, and there's an actual sense of strategy on how to approach every wave of enemies since they all behave differently.
It still gets repetitive after a while, the bosses are nothing to write home about, and the level design is as bland as it gets, but the additions do make for a better, truly enjoyable game.
So, yeah, I liked this one quite a bit. If I ever feel the need to play one game in the series again, it's definitely going to be this one.

A very nice brawler to play, I love the fast pace compared to the previous games in the series, it gives you several types of attacks and specials for each of the four characters and it is very satisfying to hit them on enemies, especially with Guy and Haggar who are my two favorite characters to play by far, the game is quite short, which is perfectly fine for the genre it is based on, but it gives you lots of alternative paths and the multiple different characters makes it very replayable, it's a game that I just can't get enough of even after replaying it for so many years.
Final Fight 3 on SNES definitely feels like the peak of the series! The combat's faster and more fluid than ever before, the new characters are cool (especially Dean!), and the branching paths add some replayability. Graphics and music are awesome for a 16-bit game. It's still a classic beat 'em up, so expect some cheap hits and occasional slowdown when things get crazy. But, if you love retro brawlers, Final Fight 3 is a must-play!
Really fun sequel that greatly expands the character mechanics, with dashes, dodges, special inputs that you can cancel your jabs and a super that will help you get rid of the most annoying enemies instantly. Each character has their own secret tech, such as Guy and Lucia's dash attack combos, Haggar's whole grappling play, and Dean's (my favorite) which has a very short throwing range but makes up for it with some strong frame traps to catch enemies in their wake up animation. It's great to master them all, but the game design is a bit lacking; enemies have become faster and always try to attack you from behind like mosquitoes, but they can barely keep up with the player's mechanics. This is most evident during the bosses, some of them don't fight with any grunts (like the final boss lol) so there's nothing stopping you from cornering them into a wall, and even then if you're using one of the slow characters , you only have to be aware of their wake up attack, really.
I still had more fun with this entry than the previous ones, but it's missing that claustrophobic feeling of the first game, where your muscle guy is only slightly stronger than the evil muscle guys you're fighting.

I finished Final Fight 3 in one sitting, which really surprised me.
What is even more interesting is the changes compared to 1 and 2, specifically the fact that Final Fight 3 is a whole lot of faster than the previous entries in the franchise.
This time the game offers 4 characters to choose from with different endings, which are pretty much the same with slight variations.
The combat is a bit more fleshed out, but I did not like the fast nature of it, which I felt ruined the heavier feel of the previous entries. The sounds of combat are also felt less powerful, rendering each punch into just a "necessary element" of the combat loop, instead of a satisfying reward for beating the enemies.
Sound has a lot to do with game design, especially when it comes to rewarding the player for doing something, and Final Fight 3 just fails at it.
Despite the sound issues, the game itself is still really enjoyable and entertaining and the shortcomings are just a minor annoyance.
