"Charm" is the word that defines this game. It features a fluid and nicely-crafted level design and progression in a homage to classic Metroid games, coated with a very simple artstyle that evokes its cuteness and weirdness since the beginning of the game. The story is nice enough but the difficulty spikes in the bosses took me by surprise.

a short and sweet game, i just dont like the plot felt rushed and unfinished in some parts. i still dont know why the main protagonist (the cat) abandoned her owner at the end (he switched soul with the mouse afterwards), it felt nonsensical for the protagonist to do so. and for some reason her owner still somehow manages to enter the spaceship at the end and escape?? idk, doesn't really make sense for me.

Cute little fun game loved the exploration and its overall really fun

it's good! but it's way way too short.

Decent little Metroidvania you can beat in 2 hours.

A short metroidvania but fun inspired game very challenging as well don't even get me started on the sequence break achievement it took me hours to unlock it I give this game a 8

a cute and fun little take on the metroidvania genre. it's not genre-changing or anything, and hell it barely qualifies under the metroidvania umbrella at all with how linear it is. but, with how cute it is, how surprisingly great the soundtrack and sound design is, and how simple but effective the story it tells is, doinksoft have cooked hard here.

Metroid, but you're a cat. Charming, short, and sweet.

Brisk adventuring, excellent 1-bit art and great action gameplay. And I love the sense of humour around the cat, with your owner being proud and congratulatory whenever you get an upgrade.
If there's a few issues I have, they are:
- the "cat" controls can be frustratingly finicky, with a tiny character jumping at high speed all over the screen.
- navigating is pretty brainless: the next objective is nearly always right in front of you.
- the ending did not take itself seriously enough for me (trying to be vague). Great tone for the opening, but kinda weak for an ending.

Probably one of the best metrodivanias, besides Metroid. Only thing is at the end, where your locked out of 100% completion if you happen to go fight the final boss, instead of finding everything.

It's aight. There's cool mechanics that are generally underutilized, and it feels a bit cookie-cutter in terms of the gameplay. It's fun, but doesn't do much beyond the initial concept.

Es un metroidvania muy pequeñito, tanto que no tiene nada de metroidvania pero nos pagan cada vez que decimos esa palabra, pero muy chulo, cortito y ¿satisfactorio? maybe.

very nice and short metroidvania. perfect for an afternoon

Is that a cat in a robot suit?!?!

A wonderful little Metroidvania game, however the rigid structure and extremely short runtime hamper its replayability; an essential component of the genre.

Always been intrigued by this game and finally got it for less than 2€ on the eShop, which is a steal honestly.

Gato Roboto is a short, very condensed and charming Metroidvania game, with a great humor and a top-tier 1-bit style. It can be quite challenging at times but also very rewarding, and it took me less than 5h to complete 100%.

Game is short and cute but level design is definitely good. Nice soundtrack, cool cat !

Se vc ama gato e gosta de Metroid esse jogo é perfeito pra vc

sencillito y cortito con una historia interesante, buenardium nunca me pude pasar un metroid esto ya es algo

Nothing particularly special but enjoyed it. Brief, not hard but not a cake walk either. Probably a 7.5. A very straightforward homage to original Metroid

This is a game I got for free on Twitch a while back, and I'd been putting off playing it for far too long given how much I love Metroidvanias. And you even get to play as an adorable kitty! I'd heard it was short but sweet, and that's exactly what I got, with it taking me a little over 2 hours to 100% the game.

In Gato Roboto, you play as Kiki, the cat of a galactic security soldier who steps on his console during a landing sequence and causes him to crash land onto the research station he was going to check out. Pinned within his own space ship, he has no choice but to send out Kiki to complete the mission in his sted with the help of a cat-sized suit of mech armor you find on the station! It's a cute, silly story that has "voice acting" very very much like Chibi-Robo. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but still manages to be silly-yet-engaging.

The gameplay is a more Metroid-y Metroidvania than a Castlevania-y one. You run around in your mech suit shooting your normal gun and you'll find more power-ups as you go through the game like missiles (which are on a cooldown timer, not a limited thing you need to collect more of, which is awesome), better bullets, better jumps, etc. You can search through 6 areas for both extra health packs as well as palette cartridges, which allow you to change the monochrome-palette of the game to all sorts of colors, from a more soft grey & black, to a harsher (and even fuzzier) Virtual Boy-like red & black, to even an absolutely nauseating Commodore 64-like blue & yellow XD

There are also sections where Kiki leaves her suit and is exposed to one-hit kills, and these are easily the most difficult parts of the game for obvious reasons. That said, the game overall is far from the most difficult Metroidvania I've played, while also not exactly being baby's first Metroidvania. The controls are really tight and the game is really fun to explore around and fight things in, even if the boss battles aren't the most exciting thing in the world.

Verdict: Highly Recommended. It's a short game, but it's oozing with character and solid gameplay. If you're someone without a lot of money to spend on games, you might not feel you're getting a ton of value for it, but if you just want an excellent time to spend an afternoon, this is a really great way to do it ^w^

A shockingly good metroidvania that offers a surprising amount of depth in terms of gameplay, while also not overstaying its welcome. The art style and aesthetic are both quite charming, too. Progression felt very natural, with your character getting more powerful gradually over time all the way until the end. I'm honestly just surprised at how well-made this game was.

WHY IS GATO ROBOT AT 3.5 GET THAT FREAKING NUMBER UP RAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

What a nice short little metroidvania. And for only $2 on sale? Wow! Value!
