Speed-daters ranked by how much I'd want to play this game with them:

1. Spooky Peter (He'd be a riot)
2. Dave (Pure positivity)
3. Gary (I don't think it'd help him, but I have to try)
4. Hattie (She's nice!)
5. Stephanie (She needs something to do)
6. Andy (Would arguably the best commentator)
7. Agatha (Same reason as Gary, but less desperate)
8. Vera (I think she might hate it)
9. Leon (He'd definitely hate it)
10. Kyo (They don't need this stress, bless their heart)
11. Drea (I think they might hate me)
12. Riley (Bye Riley)

Cute game! I wish there was more art, a lot of situations are just described without showing anything. At the very least, a background image for the dates would have gone a long way. But most of all, I truly feel bad for not being able to help Gary more. That poor guy.

Enjoyable little visual novel that has good humor and interesting topics that feels held back by its structure and length. The speed dating aspect feels like an odd fit for the characters they made for the game and pretty much none of it even feels slightly romantic even when its trying to be. For a game called speed dating for ghosts it felt much more like therapy for ghosts. And the interesting part of having to choose a partner at the end of a session gets nullified due to how the game makes it super easy and encourages you to experience the dates with every ghost. You wont even get the last chapter of the game if you don't. I tend to dig short games and stories but almost every characters date and convos tend to feel a bit rushed, it is definitely an enjoyable time but I couldn't help but feel these characters and stories deserved a more natural wrapper and some breathing time.

Sometimes you're depressed and you just need to help someone figure out their own murder, but like, with thirst.

Someone just wanted to tell a bunch of stories about cool characters and did it in a fun way. It's a good game, I just wish there were more choices that matter.

i remember liking this! fairly short and sweet, nothing super standout but a fun way to spend an afternooon

Weird little game about talking to ghosts. Maybe you'll smooch???????

The writing is suprisingly emotional in some places and I teared up and was filled with dread in turns. A well-realized cast of characters makes this game worthy of multiple playthroughs to see the full conversations and dialogue choices you can have with each date.

The visuals are stark but striking and incredibly effective for setting the tone, which is a huge bonus.

It's such a short game you can finish it in an evening, but it's just as long as it needs to be.

I recommend picking this one up for folks who like weird little games with good writing.

I was expecting a meme date sim but it's actually pretty wholesome and conversations with ghosts delve into actual deep subjects.

And you can pet the doggo

Marry Fuck Kill but all three options are Kill.

really cute! the ghosts WILL reject you if you don't pick the right dialogue. gotta go back for agatha's story

Sometimes a game seems like it was made specifically for you. Sometimes a game is almost identical to an idea you worked on years ago and never finished.

But that game did it far better than you ever could.

...... in my experience.

for what this game is it is quite amazing. it is small and bare bones but full of heart and emotion. great concept and good quick pick up for those who like narrative games/dialogue heavy games.

A game that’s short and sweet and very, very cute, if not just a tad existentially dreadful. When not charming and thought-provoking, however, the game can be a bit dull, but it’s still worth a play if only for how fun a lot of the characters and their concepts are.

A cemetery's worth of phantoms, wraiths, and poltergeists lookin' for love.

Speed Dating for Ghosts is literally what it sounds like, a dating sim about speed dating for ghosts. You start the game and get to pick from 3 different rooms that have 3 different ghosts in each. You have two rounds to speak with all three of the ghosts in that room, and the ghost changes in front of you every time a bell rings, so... literally like speed dating works usually.

There is a lot of different dialogue in the game, branching choices that make you want to meet the ghosts again later and many different kinds of ghosts to choose from. The tone of this dating sim is definitely to be more comedic than romantic, but it does work work in this concept really well. For me, my own favorites from the ghosts you can choose from were Hattie, Spooky Peter and Gary. Hattie was sweet, but also told an important story about old people in nursing homes. Spooky Peter was, as I understood, a plague doctor before he died, and he was very spooky and dry, but also really fun and interesting. Gary was really creepy and well done, but also sad and interesting.

Overall, I think this game is a short little fun trip for those of us who enjoy dating sims, and it's definitely worth it. I honestly think you should wait for a sale as the amount of content and dialogue is not worth it for the full price, but it's still worth to get.

very cute game and i enjoyed every second of it. not really that much of a dating sim but i kinda liked it better that way

First 2023 completion to kickstart another year of 'reviews' that are mostly irrelevant rambles! How fitting that it should be a game that I have very little to say about, with a few general statements to make instead :)

This game was pretty fun, nothing to write home about if I'm being honest. Some cute dialogue and neat characters, couple things took me by surprised which was nice, I do appreciate when the formula is played with if only a little. Overall a chill time, doubt I'll remember it for long but sometimes it's nice to just spend an evening with something like this.

Admittedly I was hoping my first would be more significant like Xenoblade 2 but that game is taking me so long lmao. Decided to switch up my pfp as well! (Definitely wasn't copying Nancyfly..) - I love Jill but I was ready for change and a new year makes for a good excuse, felt only fitting to rep my 2022 GOTY 😌

Hope you all had wonderful holiday seasons and go on to enjoy 2023 to the fullest. I've made it a mission to play more JRPGs this year so you might get some more time between my rants... Maybe I'll finally write that FFVIIR review if the DQ XI one overtakes Shadow as my most liked :p [Nancy can't stop me from replaying it again if I say it's for that huehue]

I've got a lot on the burner but I'm open to suggestions for any must-play JRPGs (or whatever) so please feel free to drop your favourites and guilt me into playing something new! ❤️

"there's so much more, my love.
just you wait."

when a game comes along with a concept as silly as this, the best thing it can do is take itself seriously.

this is such a sweet, emotionally intelligent game. in the three times i finished it (one for each room), i was greeted with such thoughtful stories of love, loss, and starting over (with a brief foray into bank robbery, because if someone asks you to do crime, you simply don't say no <3).

incredibly sweet, incredibly funny. i'm so glad i played this

Very simple, and good at doing what it's trying to accomplish. The dates are interesting and unique and range from doing an unexpected activity to learning a tragic backstory to haunting, which makes for a fun break from a traditional date quest. The character designs (including dialogue) are similarly unique and fun. Short enough that you don't have to block out time to play it for a little bit, which is great if you struggle to find time to play or to stay focused for long periods. The graveyard feature for ghost's you've already went on a date with is very cute :)

A very unique and neat little game. Not a whole lot to it but some great dialogue and memorable characters. Pretty wholesome

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Simple art style but damn, for a game about ghosts it sure lifted up my spirits 💯
