I wrote a jokey fanfic for this video game back in 2013 that got unexpectedly well known, I see screenshots floating around on tumblr sometimes. I also closet cosplayed a character and the blurry photos of teenage me are also floating around somewhere out there on the internet.
That aside, this game is FANTASTIC, the emotions it causes in you as you realise what the actions of you, the player, and the character you are playing as (or are being played by as it seems) truly mean for your surroundings, is unexplainable. The character designs are inspiring and amazing, the songs SLAP so hard I still get pepper steak stuck in my head to this DAY so many years later.

Left my ass cooked and crooked. Easy to let complaints of the rigidity of RPGmaker ATB combat and exploration fall to the wayside when the game's narrative doesn't miss a beat. OFF has a lot of unique ideas, and it tells them confidently with fantastic dialogue, surreal environments and an all around sense of style. For a game that paddles in the abstract so obscenely, the conclusion still manages to expertly close the book and leave the player with exactly what they need. Thanks for the stone in the gut.
What to say abput Mortis Ghost's OFF? How do you sum up an experience like this in a succint way. It's something truly original; both in the crude visual style with sprites that look like they've been scribbled in pencil, barely fitting into the world around them; and its writing, both the story and world building. It's very simple gameplay wise, and not much of a challenge either. It's very easy to let autoplay carry out most the battles, but that's not what you're here for. It's an original piece of artistic expression, something that's like nothing else you've played, a weird fantasy that's as charming as it is unsettling. It's completely free to download and play, definitely give it a go.
Real funny game about killing ghosts. Even though this game isnt the most flattering to play, its aesthetic is something truly unique, I can't think of a game that has anything resembling a similar artstyle to this game. I would recommend this game over any triple A 60$ title because you will never play a game like OFF, that isnt OFF.
OFF is honestly one of the best RPG Makers games I've ever played. There's something about this game's eerie and unsettling charm that I just adore about it. I can't really go into much about this game, as saying even anything about the game's story remotely could spoil things. It's simply something you just have to experience for yourself, and I'm glad it still lives on even to this day in 2021.
A memorable RPG Maker game that will put you to the test with puzzles. Widely known for its enthralling story, it is replayable and offers satisfaction for those looking forward to a tale of a man seeking the destruction of a realm's ruler and restore it to it's former peace. Or so, the batter thinks..
This is the kind of game that just embodies an original artistic perfection throughout and none of its flaws can keep it from being a masterpiece. The biggest drawback is the slow random encounter fights which I mostly left on auto-battle. The story is not something that results in an epic climax but rather comes to a satisfying close. There, that's about the limit of what I can criticize. It's a surreal adventure unlike anything else out there and has spawned numerous fan games and influenced plenty more, and its continued obscurity is a disservice to games as a medium.

It's a surreal experience, a world where the Aristotelian physics of the four elements are flipped on their head and morphed in a nearly dystopic way (just thinking about a sea of plastic hits too close to home).
The gameplay is functional and the music off-kilter, perfectly fitting the bizarre nature of the game. But the main thing I took away from this title is the story of neglect and familiar abandon. An absent father becoming bitter and walking down a literally nihilistic road of total erasure of a world he, indirectly, helped to create.
