This is the best way to expirience Pikmin 1.

It's not just an emulator running the game, IT'S THE GAME RUNNING ON SWITCH NATIVELY, It's not a broken mess like the wii port, and it looks way better that both version, on top of having a bunch of quality of lifes, like the changing pikmin from the wii port and I can tell they buff Olimar's throw and the Pikmin's AI, in my first playthought no Pikmin died because of the programing, only because of my mistakes which is crazy to say about this game.

I recomend this version to everyone, becuase this is by far the best way to play this classic from the game cube era, today on the nintendo switch.

FINALLY beat Pikmin 1. It's been 20 years since I first played it.

I am so glad they brought pikmin 1 and 2 to the switch!!!! Pikmin is possibly my favorite series of all time up there with dark souls, xenoblade, and earthbound. Pikmin 1 is probably my most replayed game. As soon as it came out, I played it non-stop, and when I get home from work, I plan to do the same for pikmin 2. The only reason this isn't a 5 star game is because I like pikmin 2 more.

It's the first Pikmin on the Switch. Interestingly, I never got around to actually beating the game on any other platforms, but I never owned it to be fair. I completed the game, which is telling since it was only released a few days ago on the Switch. It's short, but it's really fun. There's a challenge mode for the five levels for growing as many Pikmin as possible. If you are going in blind to the series, I can see how it might be a challenge. I was able to get all 30 parts in 23 days, but I have a lot of experience with Bingo Battle in the third game. The game looks really good too, but not remaster levels of course.

My first time playing this game. I've played and completed Pikmin 3 Deluxe before this.

I can see why many people consider this their favorite Pikmin game. The 30 day time limit and more free form nature of game and how its areas are structured certainly offer a ton of strategy to this game. The simple Pikmin types and short playtime add to this game as well, and its begging to be replayed especially as your score is shown to at the end of the game.

The main sour spots, for me, are the lack of lock on, which would have been nice, given this version of the game was released after 3 and 3 Deluxe, and the Pikmin's frustrating Path-finding. The little shits were constantly falling off cliffs and into water which I didn't remember from 3. It was also much harder to help them recover from drowning. Those are my main to sticking points and I kinda wish more were done to these ports. But getting Nintendo to rerelease any GameCube game is a miracle, so I'm glad this year has had Metroid Prime and Pikmin in it all. For 30 I highly recommend it, although you may as well just buy the bundle.

The superfluous '1' they've added onto this HD port is the only negative thing about the game. Other than that Pikin remains absolutely wonderful, no notes.

I wonder if I would of been a gamer much sooner in life if my parents got me Pikmin or Animal Crossing instead of letting my brother hog the gamecube

Can be janky but a well designed game

- Gameplay is fun but a tad bit aged
- Story is cute
- Graphics are great for GCN game

Feeling a solid 8/10

What a cool little game! The Pikmin may be a little more finnicky here than in future installments, leading to some ridiculous and avoidable deaths, but that's part of the fun to a certain point. The design decision to throw players into big maps and allow them to slowly push their way forward day by day, removing obstacles and solving puzzles, is pure brilliance and allows every player to make headway at their own pace. The timer is a great way to add tension to the proceedings and to have some facet of intended game pacing (not to mention to allow for some wicked secrets,) but it's not pushy enough to become stressful or tedious. The atmosphere is stellar, the puzzles are fun, and managing combat is surprisingly enjoyable. Only reason this isn't five stars is because of the aforementioned jank and the amount of (admittedly largely unnecessary) waiting around you have to do. Still, it's a vibe like nothing else, not even its sequels hit the same notes this game does. A singular experience, and one that every gamer should play.

Switch version is very good and probably now the best way to play Pikmin 1 due to the crushing glitch seemingly being fixed finally. Unrelated to the version specifically, Pikmin 1 is still really fun even after finishing the sequels that I consider to be better than it and I’m glad the series is finally getting the spotlight it’s deserved for so long.

P.S for first time players: be absolutely sure to destroy the egg in the Distant Spring before it disappears after Day 15, there’s a nice reward that should make your playthrough a whole lot nicer

Did you know that pikmin love swimming?

Pikmin 1 plays well and the HD upgrade looks crisp and colorful enough. This version also has a few control improvements over the original. Unfortunately, the first half of the game is pretty basic and it all ends just when the puzzles and combat are getting good.

If you’re a series fan who started with the later games or if you haven’t played Pikmin 1 in a while, it’s still fun and worth experiencing. If you’re getting into Pikmin for the first time, however, I recommend starting with Pikmin 3. It develops and expands upon the great mechanics of Pikmin 1 in many ways, is engaging the whole time, and lasts much longer.

1141 deaths on my first playthrough

this is one of nintendo's best years for the switch and this is the reason why. zelda is nintendo's worst game this year.

The only part of this game that doesn't perfectly hold up is how your Pikmin are just the dumbest little bitches on the forest floor and have pathfinding so bad its a miracle they survived on this planet without Olimar to look after them. They seem to go out of their way to get stuck behind things that are not in their way, they walk into fire, they fall off ledges they aren't even near, grab stuff you didn't tell them to, and try to help carry things only to randomly give up and just be left behind as an idle trail of pale fools lounging about as their friends do all the work. Several times i saved them from drowning only for them to literally go out of their way to run back into the water and finish drowning. They are always getting caught up in a nectar frenzy and hanging out under ramps and bridges cause they wandered in there and couldn't get back out. I was at my wits end dealing with these little freaks. And yet.... they are still my precious little idiot vegetable murder children, the bane of my days on this fallen earth, and I love them so much.

Shoutout to the mockingly loopy circus clown music in the final trial level for perfectly capturing the mental state i was in after dealing with the endless carrot-brained shenanigans of 100 primary colored nincompoops all day.

Not the best way to experience this all time classic. The game looks good enough and is convenient to play, but the Switch struggles to play it and it introduces new glitches not present in the Gamecube version. The game was also built for a Gamecube controller so it does not control quite as well here, and it is sorely lacking options.

This is one of the best games ever made and you should definitely buy it if you don't have access to the Gamecube version, but if you do have the Gamecube version you should play it instead.

I AM JUDGING THIS AS THE “REMASTER” THIS SITE CLAIMS IT TO BE. Please just legally acquire the Wii version and play it on Dolphin with HD scaling and pointer controls via mouse and keyboard. This version has motion controls yes, but they only activate when you hold A or B for some insane reason. This version doesn’t even increase frame rate or fix the stupid AI

I think this is the first time I've gotten the chance to play the enhanced version that fixes a lot of glitches and allows you to pick which Pikmin you're throwing, which were two of my biggest bug-bears with the original

Damn good update to an already A+ game

perfect object

in some ways i think a remake may have fit better (especially since nintendo's tryna brand everything together as one big cohesive package) but the game rocks and ninty did a great job with this port

20 years later this game still rocks. Happy to see the franchise finally getting some love again.

Good Lord Pikmin 1 is amazing. This is the second time I've played it in like 4 months and MAN this is probably the best Pikmin upon a replay. Really really close tie between 1 and 3. I BLAZED through this playthrough, getting through in 19 days. I think that this remaster is everything it needed to be. A new control scheme that can fit in motion controls, widescreen, and updated textures. Legendary game, please go buy it.

This game was a pure delight; a clever marriage between the serenity of nature and the stress of impending doom. There's a bit of jank and some annoying 2001 AI, sure, but this plays on Switch exactly how I imagined it would. For its time this is an impressive achievement and one I regret missing out on.

Can't believe I didn't play this twenty years ago. Okay well technically I did, but it was on one of those GameCubes at McDonald's that would reset every ten minutes. Not exactly the most in-depth experience.

As a port, this really is just Pikmin. No bells and whistles, it's Pikmin as you knew it on the Gamec- er, Wii, I suppose.

With that said, I love Pikmin! Replaying this game isn't as exciting as its sequels; the game just isn't as fun, quality of life is at an all time low and there's not much to do once you've done it before. However, the world is one I never get tired of, from the relative optimism of the Forest of Hope to the gritty and bleak Forest Navel. Weirdly enough, the nicer models and widescreen actually clean up the latter area to an extent that takes away some of the charm, though not enough to knock the port too harshly for it.

I love this game, always will. Namely for the memories. The unique ending you get when you fail to repair Olimar's ship in 30 days haunted me as a child, as did the enigmatic, seemingly unkillable Smoky Progg and darkest reaches of the Forest Navel. Those memories make this game a nostalgic trip to revisit, and I'm frankly ecstatic that others may be able to discover this game's weirdness for the first time. There's an undeniable, peculiar quality that I can't quite describe that was lost after this game, something that made it truly special.

The most fun and charming brutal experience I've ever had, love it

Great game. Only 6-7 hours long and an intensely focused experience. Reminds me of Katamari where the game starts so threatening/imposing and by the end the maps look minuscule. Addicting progress loop, and for how much crap this structure has gotten (30 ship pieces in 30 days to get the real ending) I actually did not find it overly difficult. The game also gives you the option to save after every day (which I’m not sure I even needed) so if you have a particularly gnarly run you can just restart the day with zero consequence. I’m not surprised they never went back to this structure (nor am I upset about it) but overall Pikmin is an extremely sharp. zero-fat action-adventure-strategy game.

7 Hours - 16 Days - 30 Parts

I really took my time with this playthrough, it's probably been a little over ten years since I sat down and played Pikmin, so I wanted to really soak it up.

I forgot how fun this game is to just pick up and speed through, even at a casual pace it's really easy to feel like a speedrunner, getting multiple parts in one day, optimizing out all of your Pikmin to make them all have consistent tasks to fulfill.

This game is one I absolutely recommend for people who can handle a constant timer looming over you, like Majora's Mask. If not, I suggest Pikmin 2.

A surprisingly good port of a small yet very tightly designed classic. I honestly prefer the implementation of the gyro controls to how Pikmin 3 did them, and everything looking much sharper and crisper is just good to have.

I only wish they could have tightened up the Pikmin's ai to prevent them from occasionally getting stuck around walls and falling into water when crossing a bridge. That said, I can definitely see myself coming back to this on the Switch over the Wii version.

Fantastic game, I thought the day system would make me too scared to start the game but it wasn't that bad tbh, check it out, its short and fun asf
