Released at the midpoint of the tens, Arkham Knight encompasses the best and worst AAA gaming had to offer in that specific period: Jaw-dropping graphics, perfect voice acting courtesy of Hamill and Conroy, and an awful, choppy launch. The deflating reveal of the Arkham Knight's identity didn't help matters either. But is that all the game is, a disaster and nothing more?

No, not really - it's just mediocre. Scarecrow takes the spot of "Overanalyzing asshole that shouts from the PA system" from Hugo Strange this time around, and all of his dialogue is repetitive. The militia side missions feel like Ubisoft-tier padding with no meaningful variance outside of enemy placement, and apparently the Riddler became a Top Gear nut in between games 'cause his whole personality is silly car challenges. Most of the villain quests are one-note in design, but I quite liked Two-Face's missions. They're simple, encourage speed, and push the player to use tools to maximize damage in a short window of time. This leads right into the combat, which I feel excels when the goal is to eliminate targets as fast as possible - the abundance of techniques ensures it never gets stale. My opinion on freeflow combat over the years has fluctuated from 'genius' to 'braindead' to today, where the most passion I can muster for it is a half-hearted 'okay'. At its best, it's a game of rhythm, but most of the time you're dazzling a big guy with your cape and mashing buttons. The predator sections are fun, no real complaints there. I used to be a bit hard on it for being detective mode-heavy, but considering how Batman's whole schtick is preparedness and knowing everything before acting, it's a necessary evil.

My feelings on the story go back and forth, mostly because of Mark Hamill's performance. It's absolute peak, and makes everything bearable when he's on screen. I initially thought seeing Joker prance around in Batman's mind would be incredibly annoying, especially after his permanent end in City. I thought wrong, as he's definitely the best part of the plot. Most of the other elements I'm not too fond of, the Arkham Knight especially. Using Jason Todd is predictable but not a terrible choice, it's just that he's got nothing good in terms of gameplay or plot. There's what, a couple of tank sections and a prolonged predator section? It feels like a real dud.

I don't like that the elements in this game make me flip-flop from liking it to not. There are too many weak parts for me to really enjoy it, but the amount of good content is undeniable. Also I didn't really finish it because the game told me that I needed to capture the Riddler if I wanted to see the ending.

The Riddler sucks, man.

A year after my original playthrough, I suddenly had an urge to collect every riddler trophy and take on new game plus. This lead to 10 discoveries.

1. Core Gameplay in Arkham Knight is stellar. The Challenge map extra mode is demonstrates. Especially as a sizeable improvement on previous games that aspect is brilliant.
Pro-Tip: pick up baseball bats off the floor and beat ppl with them. Highly effective.

2. Quite Ironically, Riddler is the best boss fight in the game. That aspect is quite disappointing compared to Arkham City. There’s nothing comparable to fighting Mr. Freeze, Clayface, or Ra’s Al Ghul in Arkham Knight.

3. Batmobile Racing kicks ass. Zooming in and picking off drones with Perfect/Critical shots to power your secondary weapons is very satisfying in Batmobile combat.

4. It’s very easy to download and install costume mods online. There’s great stuff out there too.

5. The story, while bombastic, is full of holes and leaves massive gaping questions.

6. Mark Hamill’s Joker as a haunting sidekick/npc/villain was brilliant. He’s a perfect comedic relief throughout the game before a really epic villain climax before the end.

7. The alternate playable characters are heavily underutilized in story mode.

8. I wish you had full freedom to investigate side missions to completion. Story progress determines a lot. Not a very “open” world.

9. There’s something viscerally satisfying, about personally driving Batman’s enemies to be locked in this game. Especially from a completionist prospective, GCPD might be a favorite hub area for me now. It’s probably the smartest idea of game design going on here.

10. This game still looks next-gen however many years later….. 3D Graphics are peaking. It’s time for higher era of art direction.

I would like to start off by saying anyone who thinks City or any other asylum game is even comparable to this one is mentally insane and needs to check themselves into Arkham Asylum. Second thing, this game is amazing, everything they learned from the first 2 comes into play in its final game in the arkham world(suicide squad is not a thing). The biggest complaint I saw about this game is how the batmobile is overused, ok bro, dont use it, glide around Gotham bitch.

Bloated mess that a slog to complete. Everything you love is here but it's now to driving mission.

Cool mechanics, but gave up after some bugs back in the day

I can't help but think that this game's NG+ is so much less fun than I remember. Even though Knight is my favorite game of the trilogy, I feel that Arkham City's NG+ nails it, specially on predator maps with the add of armored enemies. Where the hell are they in this game??

Aside from the satisfaction of now knowing the locations of every firefighter, Azrael fight, and hidden Milita grounds, this NG+ just feels too forced... I'm not a fan of this and can't wait to get to my fourth and final part of playing this game: The AR challenges, which I never tried to complete. I'll do it now.

I still don't get the 240% (again). I will, but I can't wait to do it already, I'm getting tired of this. I still like the Militia's watchtowers tho :)

Dropping Paul Dini was a mistake because the in-house writers were woefully unprepared and the story is laughably stupid at times but the gameplay is still some of the best in this specific genre of third-person action games. They've made certain tweaks to the overall system that resulted in some jankiness compared to the previous games but nothing too bad.

The game still looks incredible, genuinely better than the lot of AAA games released in the years since. The batmobile is fun albeit a bit overused, especially towards the end. It's a solid game, just not the satisfying conclusion I was hoping for, for this otherwise incredible series. Oh well.

I don’t care what people say I loved the batmobile and the story even though I predicted the twist from the start. The lack of boss fights was disappointing (especially that one tank fight with that mercenary) however the gameplay makes up for it with a variety of gadgets to make every stealth section my personal sandbox. Also locking the true ending behind riddler trophies is ridiculous and i’m not proud to say i’ve spent hours collecting them. Rest in peace Kevin Conroy.

You’re jumping from E3 trailer moment to E3 trailer moment, and at no point have the developers stopped to consider if some of the resources they’re blowing on these gigantic setpieces might be better directed towards interesting gameplay scenarios that challenge the player—or at least force them to stay awake.

Unfortunately, it didn't surpass its predecessor, but overall, it also doesn't fall short much. Graphics that are still the pinnacle of the industry, incredible gameplay, and a very competent story and characters; it's almost perfect, it just lacks a bit more of Batman.

I love running over poor people

A franquia Arkham é ótima.

on this game's cover the batmobile is basically the same size as batman. very accurate job from the cover artists!! because that awful car not only eats up so much of your runtime but actively brings down everything else to make room for it too.

about 75% through the main story gotham changes dramatically and forces you to use the car for like an hour. and i had to uninstall it at that point because I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE MAN.

but nine years later it's a PERFECT game for game pass. it's so cool to look at and so fun to play! until it keeps on going and going and you miss the interior tight designs of arkham & city...and a properly paced story...and gameplay that wasn't TANK STEALTH OVER HERE OH MY GODDDDD.

This game is absolutely stunning visually!
Combat and movement is fluid and speedy!
Depiction of Gotham City is eerie and clearly crime ridden mainly due to the event of the story.

But I couldn't see myself enjoying this as much as the others in the series, noticeable crashes at random parts, feeling way too overpowered at times, to a point that I did not even play predator sections how they were intended because it was so easy to go guns blazing!

Best thing about this was the story tbh, I was shocked with it! The whole Arkham Knight reveal got me! and seeing Batman struggle to process Joker is dead is a sad one to see.

Although I have yet to do Knightfall protocol, Im kinda sick and tired of Riddler so I cba to do it, might just look it up.

But my god the whole setting and the way the story overlaps with the side quests was a welcome one, even if Deathstroke was underwhelming. Kinda makes the tease for him being part of the suicide squad irrelevant Fuck you Arkham Origins!

man this game drags on for SOOOO long

Phenominal gameplay and graphics for a game in 2015 and amazing conclusion to the trilogy. I don't think the story reaches the heights of City, but it outclasses City in every other way

game that was completely ahead of its time

Alright, gather 'round, 'cause we're diving headfirst into the dumpster fire that is "Batman: Arkham Knight." Strap in, folks, 'cause this one's gonna be a wild fucking ride.

Now, if you've been following along with our journey through the Arkham series, you know we've seen some shit. From the highs of "Arkham City" to the lows of "Arkham Origins," we thought we'd seen it all. But then along comes "Arkham Knight" to slap us in the face with disappointment.

Let's start with the story, or lack thereof. We've gone from the dark, gritty narratives of the previous games to this convoluted mess that's about as coherent as a drunk guy trying to explain string theory. And don't even get me started on the Red Hood. I mean, seriously, who thought it was a good idea to turn one of Batman's most badass enemies into a whiny little bitch? "Oh, why didn't you kill the Joker sooner, Batman?" Give me a fucking break.

And speaking of breaks, let's talk about the Batmobile. Oh boy, where do I even begin? Controlling that tank is like trying to navigate rush hour traffic in a clown car – frustrating as hell and ultimately pointless. And don't even get me started on those godawful tank battles. It's like the developers saw "Transformers" and said, "Hey, let's make a game out of this!" Spoiler alert: it fucking sucks.

But hey, let's not forget about Jason Todd, the world's biggest crybaby. Seriously, dude, get over yourself. Batman didn't kill the Joker because he's not a goddamn psychopath like you. Maybe if you spent less time whining and more time honing your ninja skills, you wouldn't have ended up as a second-rate villain.

In the end, "Batman: Arkham Knight" is like that friend who promises you a night of wild partying but ends up dragging you to a shitty dive bar instead. It's disappointing, it's frustrating, and it's about as enjoyable as a root canal. So do yourself a favor and skip this one – Gotham deserves better, and so do you.

Now, if you thought the story was a mess, just wait until we get into the goddamn dialogue.

Let's start with Jason Todd, aka the Red Hood, aka the whiniest little shit Gotham has ever seen. Seriously, this guy's got a bone to pick with Batman bigger than the Batmobile itself. Every time he opens his mouth, it's like nails on a chalkboard – "Why didn't you kill him sooner, Batman?" Oh, I don't know, maybe because I had other shit to deal with, like saving the goddamn city?

And speaking of saving the city, let's talk about the Batmobile. Oh boy, what a fucking nightmare. I swear, trying to drive that tank is like trying to parallel park a goddamn semi-truck in rush hour traffic. And don't even get me started on the Riddler races – who the hell thought those were a good idea?

But hey, it's not all bad, right? I mean, at least we get to see Batman brooding in his cave for the millionth time. Oh joy, another night of staring at the Batcomputer and contemplating my tragic existence. Riveting stuff, really.

In the end, "Batman: Arkham Knight" is like that one guy at the party who just won't shut the fuck up about his problems. We get it, Batman, you're tortured and brooding and all that shit. But guess what? So are we, after playing this goddamn game.

Its a shame to see so much love, detail, refinement and density in content and quality go into a game that misses the mark entirely.

Its still an Arkham game so the series strengths keep the experience palatable, but its a shame this had to be the first game of this year to be a let down for me.
The story is terrible essentially beyond comprehension that great ideas come to die and whats left content-wise, is alot of busywork and pretty visuals.

Ill come off a lil bitter because this game could have been amazing, but I dont see it beeing anything near that like others do.

Im most dissapointed that I played an arkham game that has nothing worth coming back to once im all done.

We get it Batman you built a big ol' tank. Gooood for you

This is a game that really can't help being a game, as much as it tries to offer immersion and distance itself (and failing at it) from the Ubisoft open-world formula. Playing it is a constant battle between the premise of 'Be the Batman' and its annoying gamey contrivances.

Early into the game there's a mission where you have to rescue a hostage from 5 armed goons inside a locked room. You attract two goons outside, take them out, and then the mission pratically stops dead on its tracks to give you an upgraded suit and along with it 5 tutorials that don't feel at all connected to the suit and more to Batman own physical capabilities.

Later there's a mission where you have to scort Gordon through the streets on a flimsy police car for...some reason. And then in the middle of it Batman remembers, hey, I have a passenger seat in my nigh-indestructible tank, maybe I should put it to use? Rocksteady did a nice job with the maneuvering of the batmobile, but it gets stale really fast, especially when they're this blatant about shoving it into the game.

The fact that the map doesn't give you all its locations on a plate from the start and you have to explore while listening to radio frequencies and interrogating goons to fill it sounds like a good idea at first. Until 1 hour in and you realise there's almost nothing really interesting to find, it's just the same checklist open-world gameplay that you've seen a hundred times already.

The combat is flashy to try and guise the button mashy reality of it, and it requires a certain level of suspension of disbelief and immersion to truly have fun with it, which becomes difficulty when you consider how constantly the game breaks its immersion.

The story is...bad, to say the least, and it constantly sacrifices narrative and concision for its gamey contrivances. Also, they cared so much about the secret identity of the Arkham Knight that you can get spoiled by just looking through the skins selection menu (and not like you can't guess who it is as long as you have the most basic knowledge of Batman lore -- the death scene that plays with him basically shoves it in your face).

I understand this is more of a first impression (I'm four, five hours in), but I'm already struggling terribly with it. The game is beautiful to look at, but that's all there is to it. I don't feel invested in any of its mechanics or the story.

My favorite game of the Arkham trilogy. Combat and predator sequences remain just as fun as in previous games, and even sport some minor improvements. The addition of the Batmobile was a welcome one, and in general it feels great to use. There is something magical about remote-piloting the Batmobile to sneak up on an unsuspecting gun emplacement or group of enemies blocking your path.

The biggest standout in this iteration is the story. I considered the story in the previous games adequate - it kept things moving, introduced fun characters and set up the action sequences. However, the story in this game is significantly more interesting - it gripped me from beginning to end and really delivered on its emotion moments. The twists were satisfying and exciting, and the storytelling and writing are top-notch. I felt like the ending didn't deliver as full a resolution as I had hoped, but it was still worth the ride.

Overall a great capstone for the series, very much worth playing.

Excelente final para trilogia. O espantalho segurou bem a função de vilão depois de um icônico coringa do arkham City.

i love batman hes so epic and cool

The much-anticipated end to Rocksteady's Arkham series, Arkham Knight stands as a testament to the damage that hype can do to a game. In the wake of the events of City, Batman has become withdrawn and more violent than ever while Gotham falls prey to a massive attack by Scarecrow, who is aided by a PMC led by the mysterious Arkham Knight, a heavily-armed figure that resembles the Caped Crusader and seems to be able to predict his every move. Knight's storyline goes to some brilliantly dark places and although some beats are predictable if you're a fan of Batman in general it can't rob them of their impact.

However, the gameplay has taken a bit of hit. While the free-flowing combat is as slick as ever, Batman's gadgets feel a bit trite and well-worn by this point. There's a huge emphasis placed on using the Batmobile to scoot around Gotham, and a lot of the game is set around using its tank mode to sneak up on and blow up stuff which hardly feels like the authentic Batman experience the previous games have offered. Gotham as an open world is also a miss as it robs the game of exactly the kind of atmospheric closed spaces that the series has thrived on, replacing it with a soulless explorable space. While what is here is of a high quality, it's hard for it to match the expectations set by the previous trio of Arkham games.

Story and car sucks ass. Other than that its good.

i do not want to hear the riddler's pretentious nerdy voice ever again, if i do i might kill myself
