The perfect videogame.
I can't think of a single flaw with this game, maybe just a nitpick regarding the lack of voice acting for optional dialogue, but I'm not illiterate and all of the main story is fully voice-acted. Also, before someone comes in here and says the dialogue is bad, pull your head out of your ass it's not that serious.
You're gonna tell me that a game with some of the hardest lines in fiction such as "You're the Sasuke to my Naruto" and take this seriously as straight dog-ass writing. You're really going to tell me straight to my face that this masterclass in (purposefully) cringe 2000's writing that makes Citizen Kane, the hack fraud, roll in his grave, BAD!? Listen up bucko, you clearly aren't as highbrow and intellectually adept as I am. I'm able to appreciate the subtlety and nuances of lines such as "...it's like how you can never be a true gamer if you only ever play on easy mode". Sit back down, so called "gamers".
Neon White is a videogame-ass videogame. I feel nothing but raw joy playing this game. It is so fun to blast through these levels and further refine your times. You don't even have to be good at games to feel like a total badass. Your lifeless corpse could be having death spasms on the keyboard and still pop off. That's not to say that the game is braindead and lacking depth, quite the contrary. You just don't need to be some sort of Gamer God Supreme to get something out of the gameplay on display. The skill floor is low enough that almost anyone can have a good time, and the skill ceiling is so high that it's a blast to keep running levels over and over again.
Back to the lifeless corpse, Neon White can cure death. If adrenaline made sound, it would be the soundtrack to Neon White. This shit slaps, FULL STOP. Start blasting this in the cemetery and see the dead rise and bust it down to the bops gracing their rotten ear holes. Just straight up one of the best soundtracks in a game, *mwah chef's kiss. And the vibes are impeccable, this game oozes in the sixth gen charm. As I said, videogame-ass videogame.
Just play this masterpiece, it is just so damn fun

A psychedelic, high octane romp through a demon infested heaven has never felt so smooth. Neon White excels at almost everything it attempts to do. The gameplay is fastpaced, puzzling, and genuinely challenging in moments. Never does the game give you a break as new mechanic after new mechanic is hoisted on you with level design that teaches you how they work, but also challenges you to see how far you can take them. The addiction of shaving off just a few more seconds of your previous best time becomes a potently addicting gameplay loop that never seems to get old. Neon White constantly pushes you to become better and better as the mechanics from previous stages begin to layer and merge with one another to create interesting and compelling new movement combinations that you never thought possible before.
This is a game that shows your experience as you play it more. The second level becomes marginally faster simply by learning how to discard your weapon for a unique ability, creating a new route that is much faster than the first run. Backed by an amazing OST and simple but nonetheless charming visuals create an experience that appears simple on surface level, but hides a unique layer of complexity.

This game is almost perfect in everything, this might be one of the best FPS that i´ve played, the story is good and funny, the soundrack made by fucking MACHINE GIRL (god i love machine girl) is amazing, all the mechanics and levels are really well done, but even so, i think there was something missing that i dont know what, but this game could have 5 stars easily.
neon white is a game that did the seemingly impossible - it made me feel like i'm actually good at video games. it's such a cool fuckin' game man, i don't think any other game out there blends together so many different genres and ideas together as well as this one does. buttery smooth, aesthetic as hell, makes you feel like a god, and it's one of the only high score/time trial-based games that's actually compelling.
the way neon white is able to embody the thrill of speedrunning and optimizing routes without turning into some bullshit pixel-perfect platformer (or even that difficult of one) is so nice. overall movement and the amount of tools/gimmicks at your disposal in each level is immaculate, and almost every mission has something cool up its sleeve. zipping through the later levels with the rocket launcher, launching yourself through barriers with the shotgun while being careful not to hit mimics, it's just so fucking cool. never once did it feel frustrating to the point where i wanted to slow down - even you're several attempts into a level, it's still a blast finding ways to optimize your existing progress or trying out new routes. not every level is a winner (some of the later ones were so lengthy that they did start to wear on me a little), but a vast majority of them were perfect beyond words.
like i said at the start, games like this that are based around getting the fastest times/the highest score usually don't resonate with me because i have no reason to give a shit. not only is this game's movement perfect for that kind of thing, but plastering your steam friends' times at the end of each level is honestly genius. i'm sure a lot of games do this, but seeing that your time was total ass in comparison (or one motherfucker beating a level in 8 seconds) is a great motivator to replay levels in search of perfection. after all, i can't have my friends thinking i'm dogshit :(
the weirdo ass breakcore y2k aesthetic this game has is incredible too, and definitely helps ease the pain of having to replay a mission dozens of times. sliding down glassy aqueducts, grappling between modern skyscrapers, all while machine girl is hitting you with the most beautiful songs you're ever gonna hear... it's really something else. while this game's aesthetic inspirations and the feelings it's trying to invoke through its presentation are pretty clear, it stands out from the crowd extremely well.
gameplay and presentation-wise, neon white is almost unrivaled. however, pretty much all the negativity for this games comes from its story. which, yeah, it's pretty bad and drags the game down quite a bit. it's basically this weirdo jumble of excuses for you to get dragged from one level to the next while every single character is either absurd levels of comic relief or your generic milf mommy uwu. there wasn't a single moment i actually liked, but it wasn't enough to put me off from the game. i also didn't feel compelled to find any of the hidden gifts in each level for this reason - while i think that's a cool idea, it's not worth it when the "reward" is having to spend more time with violet. i'm not gonna say that this game would have been better if it had no story at all, but it'd probably have a lot fewer negative reviews. even if they leaned into some weirdo shit where the only stuff you learned about white or heaven came from getting enough medals/secrets and just kept it as a time trial platformer would be pretty cool.
if you haven't played this game yet you're dumb as shit!! just kidding, that's a mean thing to say. don't let the negative reviews taint your impression of this one. just mash skip through every cutscene and you'll get one of the best platforming experiences you've ever had. not bad for a dead guy at all.

Absolutely amazing game. From the gameplay to the incredible soundtrack and the absolutely overhated story and dialogue, it is one of a kind and an absolute favorite of mine. Makes getting into speedrunning extremely easy and instantly rewards you for it. Easy mechanics and short levels that make it easy to pick up, yet hard to master.
Even though this game’s story was mediocre and boring, and the dialouge was wattpad levels of cringe, the gameplay more than made up for it. Really that’s what you should play this game for.
I never thought a first person, run and gun, platforming shooter would play so smoothly and fast and fun but here we are. Neon White promotes speed running so well.
The leaderboards, for one, really made me competitive and constantly drove me to finish a level with a better time than before to beat my PS friends. As I rewatch clips of some of my best runs, I realize “Oh shit, I probably could have beaten the level fast had I done this” and then I go back to the lab.
I constantly felt the need to get better, and I’d like to think I did. I found my self skipping entire portions of levels completely on accident sometimes. Not just that, you’re able to reset levels with the simple press of a button rather than going to the menu and selecting an option, which added even more haste when it came to subsequent runs of levels All the abilities were consistent with the level design, and something that I noticed as I played more was that every time a gun was left unused it was always to access a shortcut.
The vibes this game gave were also great. The environments ranged from an area like the final world from kh3 to majestic ruins to a complete hellscape. The geometry of this game was super well done. and man don’t even get me started on the music. I know nothing of machine girl but she went CRAZY for this game’s soundtrack.
All in all, play this game solely for it’s fun and fast gameplay. I guess you can try and fw the story but it’s nothing too special.

I can't remember the last time I had so much fun playing a FPS! I could not stop playing until I had aces in all levels. It scratches that competitive itch perfectly for me. The super fast restart makes it super easy to keep getting runs in.
Ignore the dialogue and you'll find likely the most mechanically satisfying game I've played in a long while.

One of humanity's greatest missed opportunities; if this game had a good story, it'd be one of the best games ever made. Or a decent story. Hell, any story that I could play around my family, without having my index finger hovering over the Escape key.
If we ignore that and the (to be fair, non-mandatory) heavenly delights, then the razor-tight, speed run friendly gameplay, the unambiguous, slick visuals, and the energetic soundtrack all coalesce to make this game one for the ages.

With Neon White, the developers definitely nailed the speedrunning time trial aspect
So many shortcuts and little improvements can be made in such simple levels, and paired with a tight, fast platforming it becomes addicting to play through!
If there's something to say about this game is that its dialogues are filled with reddit-like horny bullshit that really brings down the experience during the visual novels parts of the game (and there are a lot of them!)
