I definitely think the gameplay is overall improved from the first game for sure, though I’m not a fan of it coming at the cost of an engaging story. I think what made Galaxy 1 so special was it had both wonderful gameplay and such a cinematic feel and tone, whereas the gameplay may be better here but, gameplay’s kinda all it has compared to before

Up there as one of the all time greats. The Iconic score, endlessly creative levels, and lively energy make this game just as enthralling as the day it released.

An even tighter platformer than its predecessor, with the same bombastic music and even more gameplay variety. It is a bit more linear than Galaxy 1, but I believe this is remedied by the increased difficulty to (fully) complete this game. Once again, a simple 10/10.

Don't let the discourse on whether this game innovated enough compared to the first game distract you from the fact that it doesn't improve on anything from Galaxy 1 and is essentially glorified dlc. Not a bad game by any means, don't get me wrong, not a dull moment and all that but it did start the era of boring, linear, blend together era of mario games that hit a boiling point with 3d world and new soup U. Worth a playthrough nonetheless, unless you're one of those people that are crazy enough to 100% any game; only the most dedicated do that willingly and 100%ing this game is considered an abstract form of torture in foreign countries. Forcing prisoners of war to get all the prankster comets could make anyone snitch on where Osama Bin Laden was hiding, hell if it was me i'd rather get waterboarded.
its just more galaxy but without what made galaxy so different from other mario games (aside from th gameplay ) . almost no story and th homeworld is so much less fun to explore with less to do . still great bc at its core galaxy 1 is a super well designed fun game n so is this one .

In this case, more of a wonderful thing is still a wonderful thing. While the loss of an engaging hub world and associated character is lamentable, the levels are just as fun as in the original Galaxy, and the addition of green stars was honestly an incredible way to add content and encourage exploration of the existing galaxies. The co-op experience was also much improved over the base game - P2 can't make Mario jump by accident.

I played this game and liked it. It's a different look at "Super Mario Galaxy," and they added Yoshi in it and all that, but honestly, it just felt like they were copying the first game.
