It’s been a while since I’ve played a beat em up that isn’t Final Fight or SOR 2/3, so i’m glad I picked up the Capcom Beat Em Up collection so I can find out about hidden gems like this!
The King Of Dragons sort of reminds me of Golden Axe with the medieval setting, use of weapons, and midgets which run across the screen occasionally and will give you cool shit if you hit them. They are, gameplay-wise, very different however. While one aged like dogshit and is incredibly jank and unfun, the other is actually fun and incredibly beautiful with some excellent pacing. I think you can tell which is which.
That final boss is hype asf too. I can imagine kids back in 1991 pissing themselves after seeing it.

Without a doubt the superior way to play SSF2T. Yeah, there may only be 4 buttons, but who uses medium punches/kicks anyway (that might just be me though idk)?
There’s no glitched AI, there’s a training mode where I FINALLY learnt how to do a shoryuken, and overall the package is much stronger than the arcade one. I really don’t have too much to say, it’s just a good port of what would’ve been the best version of Street Fighter II if they didn’t fuck up the CPU.

Honestly, i would've never beaten this if the contra anniversary collection didn't have the Japanese version, which not only gives you infinite continues, no matter the difficulty, but also has a 30 lives cheat. If you want an actually enjoyable experience, play the Japanese version, crank that shit up to hard mode, and use the 30 lives code.
