A competent metroidvania that could have used some work.
Many things about this game are "just" not there. The controls are fine but often the character reacts sluggish, and the game feels inconsistent about when Sagron will or will not grab a ledge for example. Same in combat, it's good, but combo's feel tedious because the default dodge will get you just out of reach, and the sluggish movement of Sagron will have you run into the rapid enemy attacks. The bosses are fun once you died enough times to memorise the patterns, after which the fights become trivial. The same can be said for many puzzles, which will "gotcha" you with traps previously offscreen. The music and sound design are bland and unmemorable, the story and characters are "fine" but entirely skippable. The lore you find feels disconnected from the rest of the game. Finally, the bugs range from annoying to completely locking your game, requiring a restart. Sagron will transport through platforms after getting hit or get stuck under ledges during a dash, talking to the pirate king might lock any action after the dialogue, requiring a controller restart, and I've had a boss just stand still, until his health no longer went down because his third phase would not trigger.
The final bosses did bring some more fun to the fights, and the amount of Persian mythology that not many games bring, brought this game back up from 3 stars, as it was, overall, a fine experience

Describing the game makes it sound better than it actually is. While the mechanics of the game are innovative (for the genre) the story beats are cringeworthy and rely on being "edgy" , mostly for shock value. The subjects being dealt with require a better touch, their portrayal in the game was honestly just gross. As it is kind of a visual novel, gameplay is limited to repeatedly pressing the space bar to get through the endless lines of repetitive, typical dialogue.
