Second time I've beaten this, and I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. Knowing there was some repetition with some of the levels reusing areas made it less of a chore, bit still dragged it down a bit.

I found a nice rhythm with it this time. Enjoyed making use of the sniper rifle, and the shotgun came in handy against the flood. I think paying attention to the story a bit more this time around helped too. I never used to care, as I just enjoyed blasting space freaks and stealing vehicles.

The updated visuals are nice overall, but in some areas can make it confusing where I needed to go next. No way point and scooby doo corridors had me going the wrong way on more than one occasion.

Otherwise, I've had a good time. Even better than the last time I played it. The games only improve as they go on (well, 5 is the exception, but that's a blip) so I'm looking forward to playing through them all again.

Pretty decent first person puzzle game. A bit bleak and heavy going, a bit buggy here and there, too. But otherwise, a good mystery that doesn't out stay its welcome.

What a wee treat. This was a perfect Xmas period game. Picking it up between my other games, playing an hour or so here and there whilst stuffing my face with twiglets and chocolate, chugging glitter Berry j2o's.

This is a lot of fun. Silly plot, silly characters and silly situations. Doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest. A nice chilled out RPG, which won't take hours and hours to play through. Some of the later stages got a bit of a grind, but otherwise, a nice, light and breezy Mario game.

I really enjoyed the fact one of the baddies which was basically a magic wand with an orb atop, was called Orbison. I also get why people like Geno, now. That ending cinematic and credits was cracking.

Good Mario.

Lots of fun new little twists and features keep things fresh throughout. A few moments that really captured that Mario magic, too.

Lots of little nods to the other games in forms of anything from a musical cue to a floating block. Good fun.

I haven't finished all of the levels however, but I will be returning once my Xmas pile of shame has been conquered.

I can file this alongside the likes of Street Fighter, NBA 2K, and most racing games, as titles that I really enjoy, but completely suck at. I have played this prior to its recent release on the NSO N64 app, however it was only borrowed off a friend, way back when the system was current gen. I thought I owned this, but somehow I got it mixed up with Snowboard Kids.

But since its release on the switch, I have been having a real blast with this. I've only managed to complete the easy mode so far, and I'm fucking awful at tricks. I'm lucky if I land a normal jump, let alone a 720° stiffy to nose grab to melon. I'm utterly abysmal. Yet I'm still having a hoot.

It's as much the look and sound of the game that's keeping me invested. For something pushing 30, it looks great, has a cracking soundtrack and astonishes me with just how well it plays. Despite me having zero nostalgia for this title specifically, it takes me back to being 14 year old me, sat playing Cool Boarders on my PlayStation, thinking this is one of the best sports to ever be made into a videogame. One day I'll get it, and I might end up bumping this up to 5 stars.

Gotta say, this recent drop of N64 games on switch is probably the best one since the app launched. I'm still playing all 3 games.

I played it offline against cpu, just to see how it runs on Series X. Felt like I was playing online against someone with a terrible connection. Froze every other time I punched etc. Looks great, performance is abysmal.

A great time from start to finish. I had a cracking weekend involving a lot of Quake II. Another top remaster from Nightdive. Gotta say, I enjoyed this a heck of a lot more than the first one.

And the addition of Quake II 64 was a nice bonus, too. Different enough to warrant a play through of its own. And also a heck of a lot of fun.

I'd been interested in this for a while, as I do enjoy these type of games. Everything about this should tick all the boxes, the gameplay, art style, music etc, but something just left me a little underwhelmed.

The time travelling aspect, time stopping, different weapons and familiars were all neat touches, and enjoyed progressing through it for the most part, but I just didn't click with it like I was expecting too.

Still, it's a good action platformer with some great snes style sprites and some lovely scrolling back grounds. Pretty decent.

It's fine I guess. I know there were a lot of pleasantly surprised reviews for this when it came out, so I was hoping to have the same reaction, but I thought it was merely OK. I have no interest in the story, maybe I'm just getting a bit tired of Marvel stuff?

The gameplay is alright, kind of like a very small scale xcom where your moves are determined by the hand you're dealt. Literally. I've never been a big fan of card based games, no matter how they're dressed up. Unless it's solitaire. And this is no different.

Looks good though, and making the goofiest looking creator character is always fun. Unfortunately the game just didn't tickle my tits.

I picked this up in the eshop sale as it's been on my wishlist for a while and it's the first time in a long time I've seen it discounted. After playing through it, I kind of feel bad for not paying full price. Despite it being an intense precision platformer, it's clearly a very personal game to the developer and its a wonderful journey that we are taken on.

The platforming is compulsive just one more go stuff, accompanied by Lena Raine's excellent score, which often pops up in my Spotify playlists, with great visuals, themes, and gameplay that had me hooked all weekend. I played through it over a couple of days and I don't think I've been this invested in a game since Tears of the Kingddom. I was hooked from the off and I still want more!

The family put up the Xmas decorations at the weekend too, so playing this with a 6ft pink Xmas tree next to the TV was one of the cosiest gaming experiences I've had in a long time. 😊

It's a game I'll likely be revisiting for years to come. One of those that always feels fresh and exciting to play. Going back to collect the strawberries I missed or couldn't get first time around is great as well. Being able to go back and get them allows you to concentrate on beating the game first and mopping up on a second run through. Although some of the secret areas really are tucked away. You need a keen eye.

It's not without its frustrating parts, and there's no end of times I jumped to my death by having the wrong angle pressed by slightest of margins, and the final ascent had a couple of stumbling blocks that I found somewhat irritating, but it's all about learning and finding the right patterns.

I really found this hard to put down and know it will be a comfort gaming mainstay for many years. Up there with Hollow Knight for one of the best modern 2D platformers I've played in recent years.

For reasons that escape me, I dropped off this when it first came out, after only playing the first chapter or so. Perhaps I was in another place, games wise. If it wasn't burley men shooting at hulking monsters over conveniently placed cover, why would I bother?

But I always liked the idea of these games. I never got to play the original, even though seeing it in magazines etc really captured my imagination. And seeing it was included with this is the main reason I got it. But I guess that came to very little as I ended up trading it in.

A couple of weeks ago it was on sale on the xbox store for a couple of quid so I thought I'd give it another shot. I was hooked. The platforming, the hack n slash combat, the locations, all kept me invested for what felt like hours. And then it turned out I'd only finished the first two chapters. Those levels seem to go on forever.

But obviously they don't, as I've just finished it. Between the excellent platforming and the grim story, that just gets darker the more you progress, I was really sold on it this time, and have no idea what 12 year ago me was thinking when just stopped playing this. Spoilt little bastard probably.

There's some great characters and even a bit of humour on the odd occasion, just to lift the mood, and there's also some cracking set pieces thrown in just to break things up. I had a really good time. Whenever I thought a level was starting to outstay its welcome, I'd just leave it at that and return the next day, and feel ready for more. Maybe it was the length, or possibly the bleak atmosphere that made the breaks more welcome.

There were a few little gripes that soured the experience, with the odd functional error and getting stuck against silly little bits and walls etc, that really stumped the flow of the game, but otherwise, a very entertaining action platform game.

Starts off quite fun, but the constant overworld battles and the seemingly endless grind sapped any enthusiasm I had for this by the time I hit the 4th temple. I'm done. May return one day, but I've stopped having fun with it.

An absolute delight to play from start to finish. 3D World is up there with my all time favourites, and Bowsers Fury is a fantastic treat to go along with it. The former is just compulsive, just one more go platform game heaven, with loads of replay value, from collecting all the stars and stamps, to the awesome little Captain Toad levels. Although I am still tonbeat Champion Road.

I live that little stage in the special stage section which is laid out like a vertical shoot em up. All sorts of different little touches like that really make up a satisfying experience.

Browsers Fury is a lot of fun, with its own little contained universe of platforming fun and the occasional kaiju dust up. One of the best Mario games.

And with that, I've come full circle and played every main Mario game (that I have, not counting the New series, which I actually like BTW, unlike a lit of folk on the internet recently for some reason, but I digress) that I own over the last month or so. It's been a great time and to play each title back to back and seeing the evolution of each title and the game experience as a whole has been nothing short of wonderful.

A very good puzzle platformer with the likes of Flashback and Another World in mind. The art style is great, and the animated cut scenes are all welcome, even when it's a stupid death. My only issue is the games length. That, and the fact I got caught up in the hype and bought the limited edition evercade version, that I really didn't need. I'd have been absolutely fine with the standard version.

But even then, I do not think I'd have got value for money. I beat this across a few lunch breaks, and considering it's just a single game cart, I was expecting a bit more.

Get it on switch when it's on sale. It's a good time, just very brief.

I was quite looking forward to playing this. I remember seeing it in maybe an indie world direct or something, and it looked great. Lovely art style and a real nice long summer vibe to it. All of which are present and correct, but some of the story feels a little drawn out and intentionally obtuse, and some of the more interactive elements of the game feel a little clunky and basic.

Visually, it's lovely. Cutting about in the kayak and running around the watercolour French countryside is great. But I thought some of the areas were limited and maybe a bit too restricted. I guess I'd made it into a French version of Boku No Natsuyasume in my head or something and what I got was something a bit slight, with less gameplay depth, but still a lot of lovely summer vibes.

Wish I'd known it was on gamepass before I preordered it, mind.
