General:
Being only in a language I don't understand was certainly a trial to overcome but thanks to a few tools and the fanbase I've managed to have a lot of fun with it.
Version 1:
The story is nice (albeit hard to understand because you know ... Japanese only). Something I really like is the character customization and races. Traveling the giant maps while only being able to set 2 fast travel is a pain tho. I beat it without multiplayer but was able to play multiplayer with some friends later which was nice. The Calamity side quest is super cool. I love 9 so seeing connections is really exciting. Overall far from my favorite DQ but not the worst. 7/10.
Version 2:
Nice extra story and a cool new mascot character. You can unlock a better fast travel item which greatly improves the game although it would've been nice to get way sooner. Overall a nice addition.
Version 3:
The new race isn't playable which is unfortunate. I like that the plot is more lore heavy than the previous expansion even if it's shorter.
Version 4:
I love time travel stories if they're done right and this did it right. I love the Zeal Chrono Trigger atmosphere, new lore, and the new characters. This expansion's story is definitely my favorite part of this game. It's s shame it's locked behind a lot of progression in a Japanese only game because it's really great.

Every game was designed with a purpose. What was this games purpose? To be a person's first RPG. It's simple, fairly short, and holds your hand quite a bit. Do I think it did its job? Yes. Does that make it good? Eh. The plot and characters are basic and there's plenty of more modern RPGs that are also easy to get into that have better stories. I will however say I like how monsters were on the overworld (most SNES RPGs are random encounters) and that monster sprites change while getting close to death.

Gameplay:
On the surface it's very much like past 2D Metroid games with a new coat of paint and several quality of life changes. Some bosses get reused but there's definitely a lot more variety than Samus Returns. Avoiding EMMIs is really dreadful.
Story:
It has a summary of past games (or at least what you need to know to understand this one) and picks up quick. The game is definitely more gameplay heavy than story heavy but when the story is there is nice. I'm really happy with how it builds off of Fusion and the Chozo memories from Samus Returns. Two ending reveals blew my mind.
Overall my new favorite Metroid. My only complaints are it's fairly short and it was a little hard figuring out where I needed to go a few times.

I didn't think Min Min or Kazuya were hype but do think they deserved the spot.
STEVE!? Now that's a huge shocker.
I love Final Fantasy and Xeno. TBH I was hoping a different FF game like 10 and a different Xeno game like Xenosaga got a rep instead but I'm more than happy with Sephiroth and Aegis. Great additions.
Sora was the most requested character and a great way to end the DLC.
Overall a really great DLC expansion.
