Recommend Books or Something

I will list the source material of the target game and the book, manga, movie, etc. that I recommend. This list may be boring for those familiar with Japanese novels and manga, as they are all well-known books. See this list for the source material of Ace Attorney 123.
I started using Anilist. I would like to use it as a record of the comics I read. (Frankly, I don't think I'll write too many manga reviews because Anilist is not a flattering site compared to Backloggd.) I hope this will be helpful to those who are hungry for manga.

Recommended Manga:
Aoashi - Kobayashi Yūgo
Thanks to this manga, I can now enjoy watching football/soccer. This sports manga is recommended for those who are familiar with football and those who are not. If you enjoyed reading Slam Dunk, you will like this manga.
Recommended Manga:
Chi: About the Movement of the Earth - Uoto
Recommended because the story takes place in the Middle Ages.
Blue Period - Yamaguchi Tsubasa
BP is set in the present day, but it asks the profound question, "What is art?" it asks the deeper question. So, I can recommend this comic to gamers with a deep knowledge of the arts, of which there are many on this site.
Source Material Manga:
Devilman - Nagai Go
Recommended Manga:
You're Being Summoned, Azazel - Kubo Yasuhisa
Recommended Manga:
FRONT MISSION DOG LIFE & DOG STYLE - Otagaki Yasuo
If you like the Metal Gear series, etc., you will probably like this manga. I reread this manga the other day and was reminded that it is a wonderful manga. I can't believe that the manga was serialized in Young Gangan, which is an ongoing mass production of kuso-manga.
Recommended Manga:
最後のレストラン/THE LAST RESTAURANT - Touei Michihiko
A gourmet(cooking) manga-like Fate? It is about a small French restaurant run by a strange Japanese man, where historical figures from the past and present come to have their last supper. My favourite aspect of the manga is the heroine, Jeanne d'Arc. This manga deals with historical figures from all over the world, so naturally there are a few British people in it, and Jeanne has a funny reaction to each one, which is hilarious. The times that made me laugh the most were the times with Richard I, the Lionheart King, in the lead role.
"Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum. I smell an Englishman, Be he living, or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to mix my bread!!" (Jeanne mutters with a sword in hand at the sight of three English men.)
"The evil mastermind has shown up! The filthy Englishman!" (Jeanne's line, which she shouts while slashing at Richard I with her sword.)
Recommended Manga:
Azumanga Daioh - Azuma Kiyohiko
This may have already been written in English articles, but the source of Azumanga Daioh is ToHeart. Proof of this is that Mizuhara Koyomi's name at the start of the series was Hoshina Tomoko, which is that of a character in ToHeart. Incidentally, before the serialization of Azumanga Daioh, Azuma Kiyohiko was drawing 4koma-manga of ToHeart and other works. To put it bluntly, if you turn ToHeart into a 4koma-manga, it becomes Azumanga Daioh, and if you turn Azumanga Daioh into a visual novel, it becomes ToHeart.
Recommended Manga:
Drifters - Hirano Kota
Although Fate is always cited when talking about this manga, most of the ideas and inspiration for the Drifters came from Civilization. Comparing the two works, Fate focuses on individual heroes' episodes and weapons, whereas Drifters focuses on technology, the whole thinking that operates them, and civilization itself. Drifters is a very enjoyable cartoon, but the problem is that the author is slow to write. In the past few years, I have written only two or three times a year, and just recently the author, Hirano, was hospitalized, so there will probably be no new publications for a few more years.
Recommended Manga:
RockMan X - Iwamoto Yoshihiro
A manga version of Mega Man X that was serialized in Comic Bon Bon.
It was officially approved by Capcom and later influenced the original game.
The content is very extreme for a shonen magazine series. It has been out of print for a long time but has such a cult following that it was recently reprinted.
Recommended Manga:
Hi No Tori - Tezuka Osamu
Reccomended Anime:
G Gundam & Giant Robo
Recommended Books:
Clouds Above the Hill - Shiba Ryotaro
A novel centered on the Russo-Japanese War. It may be the best-selling novel about Japan during the Meiji period. This book has a great deal of overlap with the Great Ace Attorney, and Natsume Soseki also makes an appearance, although in a lesser role. (Soseki is a friend of Masaoka Shiki, one of the main characters in this book.) An English translation has been published, but you might want to watch the NHK-produced drama. Although there are many omissions compared to the original novel, I think it is a well-done drama.
The Yellow Lodger - Yamada Futaro
It is the so-called Holmes pastiche. I consider Futaro Yamada to be the greatest Japanese writer of the 20th century. Shiba Ryotaro is more popular in Japan, but Yamada Futaro's influence on contemporary Japanese creative writing is far greater. This is because if you trace the history of representative entertainment works such as shōnen manga and ability battle stories, you will most likely end up with Yamada Fūtaro. Highly recommended for those who can read Japanese. For some reason, this short story is included in the English translation of Natsume Soseki's The Tower of London, so if you are interested, please read it. There is a silly video on Youtube that says that the Great Ace Attorney is about racism, and I think this Holmes Pastiche meets that request. I can recommend this book to those who can understand the context.
Source Material Book:
Maihime(Dancing girl) - Mori Ogai
A novel about a Japanese man who dumps a German woman who becomes his lover. The ending of Sakura Wars 3 is also about the protagonist eventually abandoning his girlfriend (France, Vietnam, Romania, etc.). Lie. I have been waiting for many years for a Sakura Wars set in London, and it is a pity that such a sequel never seems to happen. Burning London, crumbling clock towers, bad food, ever-rising prices of Freddo, tea consumption increasing day by day. I wanted to see such a Sakura Wars.
Recommended Books:
The Devotion of Suspect X - Higashino Keigo
A novel that won the Naoki Prize and at the time of its release there was controversy over whether this work was an Honkaku mystery (One of the genres of mystery fiction. The main focus is on tricks, solving mysteries, and the activities of a smart detective.) or not. I don't think it is important whether a work is an Honkaku mystery or not. This is also true of Disco Elysium. I don't care if the work is a mystery or not. Suspect X is a novel that those who like mathematics will enjoy reading even more.
The Man Was Who Thursday - G. K. Chesterton
Homage to Catalonia - George Orwell
Both were helpful in considering the political aspects of DE.
Recommended Manga:
Sengoku - Miyashita Hideki
A manga about the Warring States period in Japan, completed in February 2022. A total of 72 volumes. (If the Okehazama Senki, in which Nobunaga is the main character, is added, the total volume is 77.) Although there are some unreliable points, such as the use of Luís Fróis' History of Japan as a historical source, the high quality of this historical manga. Even though it is a manga, the subject matter is minor Japanese history, so it is unlikely to be translated, but I highly recommend it.
Recommended Manga:
雪の峠/Snowy mountain pass - Iwaaki Hitoshi
This short manga depicts the political struggles of the Satake Clan, feudal lords who ruled the area around what is now called Ibaraki Prefecture. It is a very intense manga, even though it is short and not flashy at all like a shonen manga.
剣の舞/Sword dance - Iwaaki Hitoshi
A short manga that is included in the set with 雪の峠. The main character is Hikita Bungoro, a disciple of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna(He was the model for the swordsman played by Takashi Shimura in Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai.), who is considered the greatest swordsman in Japanese history. Contrary to 雪の峠, 剣の舞 may be a better read in terms of readability because of its manga-like violence.
Source Material Books:
Dracula - Bram Stoker
Ninja Scrolls series - Yamada Futaro
Vampire Hunter D series - Kikuchi Hideyuki
姑獲鳥の夏/The Summer of the Ubume - Kyogoku Natsuhiko
絡新婦の理/Jorōgumo no Kotowari - Kyogoku Natsuhiko
Source Material Book:
魔界転生/Hell Reincarnation - Yamada Futaro
It is a well-known work, so I don't need to explain it, do I? It has been made into a movie twice, so you might want to see that one. I recommend the manga version drawn by Segawa Masaki.
Trivial and foolish talk:
In Fate's SN√ and UBW√, there is a scene of the exchange of energy through sex. For many people, that depiction of sex will seem strange. However, it is a common occurrence in Japanese denki-novels. Just to be a little academic, the origin of the sexual depiction in denki-novel is the traditional 房中術(Taoist sexual practices) of Taoism and Esoteric Buddhism/Vajrayana, and in Japan, the Tachikawa school is well-known. The source of Japanese modern and contemporary entertainment on the subject of 房中術 is Yamada Futaro's Ninja Scrolls series. In other words, those sexual descriptions are only logical in the Fate worldview, and at the same time, they are a tradition of denki-fiction. But I also think that there is no need to think about the deeper meaning. (In my case, I always pressed the Ctrl key when the game scene went into a sex scene lol.)
Perhaps it is because I am an ardent fan of Yamada Futaro, but Nasu Kinoko's writing skills are not that great. Even a single sexual description is boring. I don't think there is probably any article in English that explains the miscellaneous information in this area, so I tried to summarize it. What do you think?
Source Material Books:
Ninja Scrolls series - Yamada Futaro
Recommended Book:
人間臨終図鑑/Human Deathbed Pictorial Book - Yamada Futaro
The book describes the deaths of a total of 923 famous people from the past and present in the death age order. Novelist Philip Roth wrote in his book Everyman, "Old age isn't a battle; old age is a massacre." This Human Deathbed Pictorial Book is probably a massacre by Yamada Futaro. By the way, my favorite entries in the book are Machiavelli and Schopenhauer.
Source material Books:
Kindaichi Kosuke series - Yokomizo Seishi 八つ墓村/The Village of Eight Graves & 犬神家の一族/The Inugami Clan
砂の器/Castle of Sand - Matsumoto Seicho
Recommend Book:
戦前の少年犯罪/Juvenile crime before world war II - 管賀江留郎/Kanga Erurou
This is a good book that explains some of the social conditions in Japan that the above novels deal with.
Recommended Film:
I Just Didn't Do It/それでもボクはやってない
Recommended Film:
Butterfly Effect
Recommended Film:
Crayon Shin-chan: Fierceness That Invites Storm! The Adult Empire Strikes Back
It was made in 2001, so what the film is trying to say is old and degraded, but it can still be recommended. This film tries to look at reality with an awareness that is incomparable to the 13 sentinels.
Recommended Manga
Holy land - Mori Koji
Realistic fighting manga. It is a unique fighting manga that has a realistic feel in its depiction of fighting, as the author himself has experience in street fighting. Whether you are planning to get into a fight on the street or not, it is worth reading.

If your intent is to make foreigners to want to get in contact with real japanese people and culture, you're doing an amazing job! =D

Never heard of CJ before, turns out there's an actual page of it in english in the 内閣府 website. Hope it's not fucking with your country as much as you say, poor 日本... XD

(studying 日本語 right now, very much in the first steps as you can see lol)
