Spiritual successor of Space Station 13, known by all because of its complex systems, clunky gameplay and hours upon hours of fun and absurd comedy. The game still lacks many features from the original but it's well on its way to become a great remake. If the clown doesn't kill you for no reason then why are you even playing?

Despite me being a certified freak who enjoyed the old visuals more, I'm happy the new visuals have opened up interest to one of the most rich gaming experiences created by a human being.

If I had to play one game for the rest of my life, it might be Dwarf Fortress due to it being dizzying in it's mechanical richness. Every run will be so wildly different from one another due it's randomly generated values that you might feel as though you are playing a different game. One run you might be waging war with the goblins and mining resources and going through the motions. Another you and the goblins have formed a treaty and are now punching birds together and taking the dead birds to a wizard who will turn it undead and then you use said undead birds to go fuck with the elves because fuck the elves.

I can see myself playing Dwarf Fortress on-and-off for the rest of my life. That's the highest praise I could possibly give a game.

BUSSIN but missing "create last" option

Lotr in full strategy executed well.

Yeah sex is nice, but have you ever tried beating Ballos on hard difficulty?

Bought this on impulse one day because all I knew was that it was good. It sure did turn out to be, but learning my money went to a publisher that swindled the IP from Pixel bummed me out. Play the freeware version, or if you really want Plus's features, at least buy it used instead of new. Better yet, that money could go to Kero Blaster to show Pixel some support.

The first indie game might as well be the best. The simplicity in Cave Story managed to strike my very being. The basic art style, unforgettable OST, simple story, and iconic gameplay will be in my head for awhile. I think anyone who loves indie games owes it to themselves to experience where it all began. Cave Story is an all time gem.

One of the best survival horror games made in quite a long time. Never thought a top-down game would scare me shitless but it definitely did. It nails the atmosphere intensely. A creak in the night that you don't know if it's danger or just a random sound of the building rotting or hallucinations.

i be imagining the hoes too i get it james

This game affected me the same way Kingdom Hearts 2 affected 7 year old me. It really affected the way I view character writing and story themes. I love the aesthetic of the town of Silent Hill and the monsters James brings with him.

Prime example of videogames as an art form.

Silent Hill 2 is still a killer game. While not pushing the limitations of what the PS2 can do, the game absolutely takes what was learned in SH1 in terms of sound design, atmosphere building, and the small town setting and builds a much more personal story about it.

SH2 revolves around James' search for his wife in Silent Hill and the horror that he meets when he moves deeper into town. The people James meets all reinforce several of the themes of the game that inevitably tie back into James' journey and what is a story of horror and pain is just as much one of compassion and forgiveness.

Yamaoka's soundtrack still hits hard and there's just as much of a "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" factor to the sound design. Combat is about good as it is in 1, which is to say not very and that's the idea. About the only real issue I had upon replaying is that going for certain endings require certain actions in gameplay and while I don't mind most of them, needing to risk getting a game over for one of them is very obnoxious, though that is a minor complaint.

I still love Silent Hill 2 all of these years later. 1 was already such a great survival horror, but 2 is the peak of psychological horror. James' journey can end in a number of ways and all are just as valid as each other. I hope Bloober Team's remake can catch even a small amount of the beauty of this game as otherwise it's gonna be a very depressing show out for them. At least the original will always be there even if Konami refuses to fucking rerelease it on anything with a decent port.

Very frustrating to come from the first game to this one. Getting shot from the edge of the screen is only fun so many times. That said they expanded on practically everything else from the first game as well, everything got polished up very nicely. I've finished it and enjoyed myself the first time through, but not matter how much I try I don't think I could finish it again.

Greatest game ever made, graphical/remastered version coming soon to steam!
