Made me feel a little better about the state of the world and what it could be. Very real and straightforward about politics, no allegorical pussy-footing. INCREDIBLY honest game. I would die for Kim Kitsuragi. Every single NPC in the game is a real fleshed out person. I had some gripes about percentile dice roles but I don't care at all thinking back on it. An absolute 10000% MUST. Play this.

Mid af again. not as bad as people say I guess. Plot super heavily relies on its central character and she sucks.

It is good again ^_^ not as consistent as Heavensward but the highs were higher

I liked it! A type of game that's usually not very up my alley but it hit a handful of points that I appreciated. While it does some odd things with some myths like Cronos or Pandora's box, it felt quite authentic to me as an ancient Greek tale. Feels like it could have been lifted right out of an old myth.
Felt good to play for the most part. The different weapons and magics you get aren't super varied but there's enough to keep things enjoyable especially with the short playtime. It feels quite fluid going through your wide reaching combos and being able to block or dodge at a moments notice when you see an enemy about to hit you. That reactiveness is probably my favorite part of the gameplay.
Sadly, this can end up getting sort of tedious with larger or tougher enemies that generally aren't hitstunned or will start blocking mid combo. You end up having to whack them two or three times and then immediately dodge their counter attack. whack whack dodge. whack whack dodge. whack whack dodge. This probably wouldn't be a problem in most action games like this but enemies in this game can feel very spongy at times, annoyingly so. Dodging also feels a touch awkward considering it rockets you in a direction fast as fuck and far as fuck even though your run speed is a touch slow. Also the first part of the final fights was dope but the rest of the following sections were just really annoying to me. Still was a pretty hype conclusion though, I liked the ending.
I really do wish I could say more about what I liked about the gameplay but ultimately it just.. felt good to hit stuff. And at the end of the day, if the flaws aren't super egregious, that's good enough for me. I'd probably rate this game a loooot higher if its whole aesthetic were more my taste.

this shit rewired my brain chemistry

This shit rewired my brain chemistry even harder

Fine enough in what it sets out to do. Really, the best thing about this game to me is its setting. Aside from that, not much feels especially well done or memorable.

Nothing is really bad but nothing is really good either.

Replayed this after dropping it close to the end of the game several years ago. I'm rly surprised with how quickly I got really damn addicted to and marathoned it to completion in 2ish days.

This game is really not very mechanically sound and is kind of shallow through and through. Despite that, I seriously enjoyed just grinding and leveling my abilites and watching how they absolutely bust apart the game... Its very junkfood in that sense.

Something I did appreciate immensely is that while this is kind of a diablo clone, theres way more stuff happening beyond killing hordes of enemies all the time. Theres lots of silly quests where you talk to people, do miscellaneous shit and theres tons of areas to just explore and appreciate. The various towns and villages I found so so magical to explore and poke around, especially verdistis. Its realllyyyy nice to have the monotony of killing hordes of enemies broken up by these things so frequently.

The writing isn't particularly deep or anything like that either even though writing depth is what people really love out of old crpgs like baldur's gate, fallout, arcanum, etc, but its so so so full of personality and soul. The game gets (intentionally) really fucking silly a lot of the time and never takes itself terribly seriously. The title itself is a dumb gag in the game. Theres a surprising amount of NPCs that are just normal ass people who'll tell you a little about their lives. Lots of life breathed into the world.

Did I mention life? Something I don't see people talk about is how BREATHTAKINGLY lively the world is in a literal sense. The amount of fauna and flora around the place on top of the birds chirping, the ambience of the music, etc is SO BEAUTIFUL. There are so many fucking plant and tree props or just other props in general. So many different textured looks for the grass, dirt, water, puddles and all that shit. Butterflies and birds flying around, rabbits cats and mice running around, all that. It probably doesnt sound impressive describing it but I'm absolutely FLOORED by how lively the world and nature feel in this way especially for the time. So much fucking love and care put into that, I truly applaud it.

Kind of an aside but I feel like fantasy games are so obsessed with drawing inspiration from tolkien (fucking everything has elves, dwarves, orcs, etc) but they always forget how important the beauty and majesty of nature and the earth were to tolkien type fantasy. Idk how intentional that was with this game but its there. Love to death.

Also the final dungeon is fucking terrible.

Man I don't think this game is all that well made in a lot of ways but its just so magical feeling. Kind of special experience to me.

I've tried to play this so many times but the way it controls and feels makes it impossible for me to appreciate its qualities. Unfortunate followup to Divine Divinity, which I really enjoyed, but Larian wanted to try new things at the time which I cant really fault. Oh well

The environments and music are pretty beautifully done but every time I try to give this a go I end up losing steam so fast... there isn't anything super egregious about it, its just boring. Lacks personality and is way more wordy than necessary.

Played a million times but got around to another replay with the deluxe patch. Deluxe makes chases and scissorman appearances much more dynamic, i rly recommend it. Still as lovely as i remember :)

More horror games should take adrenaline into account the way this does.

I like the cute lil strafe dance you do when fighting stuff :)

Nice very straightforward classic dungeon crawler stuff with a cool conclusion. Nothing too crazy. Finding new equipment n' stuff is really gratifying and the game feels very snappy with a good pace all throughout. I do wish the environments were a bit more varied and that magic was more interesting to use somehow.

Straight improvement on the first in almost every way! I was worried that the overworld traveling would diminish the dungeon crawling but it just added to the overall experience by having very interesting navigation. The greatly increased customization of your character builds and whatnot is a gigantic improvement but the balancing that comes with it doesn't land as well as it could. Alchemists are ridiculously overpowered for example, there's never a reason to not have one. Game ate it up though!!
