Story is short and its fun for that short time. There's an endless mode but I don't really like how it works. Visual style is a dope abomination of shit (positive). The bad guy's plan is raw. I love the codec girl's voice and its fucked up you can mute her.

An FPS game absolutley brimming with personality, a good premise and an amazing artstyle
while short, its short but sweet
i adore this game, its addicting and fun

If you're reading this you either want to know WTF this game with a long name is or if you know that whether it's any good (does Psi think 3 stars is bad).

To answer WTF, this is a point and click game which seems very much a homage to Broken Sword, similar in themes, jet-setting, comedy and even with some nods to that series.

3 Stars is because this game is good but not without faults, part of me think it's harsh "is this just the most 7/10 ever?" as it succeeds in being a version of that series both in good and bad ways.

If you liked the series, you will enjoy this but you will both find some puzzles annoying and some dialogue bad or even distasteful.
You will also though enjoy the conspiracies, enjoy the settings and probably get a small laugh at some of the jokes and some of the nods.

My lower score is simple, it's still not as good as the first two Broken Swords and it also makes some similar mistakes to them.
Annoying partly controlled timed clicking puzzles that gave me bad memories of a goat alongside not enough voice lines to tell you if you're hot or cold when on the right path.

Overall though, I'm glad this exists, I hope there's a sequel- you have to hope that's the plan with the subtitle - and hopefully with more time, money and experience the team can create an even better game.

ZORTCH SWEEP

FIRST GAME TO SELL ONE ZORTCHILLION COPIES

This game is an experience. Do not watch reviews. Do not read spoilers. Just go in blind. Trust that it's worth it.

The Leshy Says: my favorite card battler by a landslide; the soundtrack, the art style, the story, and the gameplay is the perfect amount of everything

I will admit right off the bat - I'm not particularly excited about turn-based RPGs. I decided to check this game out anyway due to the positive word-of-mouth and was left mostly "whelmed".

I really like the art, the music and more than a few of the characters are quite charming, but the sluggishness of the pace in the second act almost made me quit playing altogether.

The combat started out as a novel stand-out feature, with a little rhythm-based element to timing "perfect" attacks and parries which was a welcome little addition to the turn-based formula. Interrupting spellcasting by matching specific attack types was also something that remained satisfying all the way to the end.

I thought the premise of the story at the outset was pretty compelling, and was feeling myself get invested. Then the aforementioned second act happened and it kind of felt like the story was going nowhere. The third act picks it all up again, with added stakes and urgency and above all just a bunch of cool stuff. It's a shame that all the coolest stuff in the game is packed in the latter third.

I won't go into too much detail about the ending, other than to say that it didn't really do it for me. After the credits roll, you can mop up all the side stuff and get a "true" ending, but I was mentally checked out before even the regular credits rolled.

The game starts out very rough with your only attack being the stomp which is annoyingly difficult to hit with and not be hit by an enemy. Plus you're immediately running into enemies that take 3 hits to kill. Additionally, the game lets you know the Forest Guardian is to the north east. It is actually not as straightforward as that, you need to venture south and make your way back up.

Once you have the slingshot the game is actually a lot more enjoyable. It's still challenging in ways, but not bad. I actually had a good time with Vultureville and its surrounding area. The addition of the scuba mask was neat. Krow's Keep wasn't a bad level either, although it is never explained in-game how to jump multiple tiles. Presumably that was in the manual, so not great, but understandable and I was honestly having a good time and rating at 6/10.

Then you hit the Mako Islands. First up was the coconut shooting game, which was pretty not great, but manageable. The hurdles became plain unfair though. I'm not sure if because I emulated it added time, but who in their right mind thought an alternating, vigorous, button mashing 36 second long minigame was a good idea? If you even slightly slow down, Honker pulls ahead of you. If you are slow to start, Honker is off the screen almost immediately and you've lost. I'm fine with a challenge, and even usually fine with a button masher, but if you aren't registering at full speed immediately, you lose. That's not a challenge, that's bullshit. I had to quit here because my hands couldn't handle the mashing any longer.

I apparently made the right choice because this was not the only race like this on Mako Islands and you cannot leave a level until you have all of its presents. This bumped the game down significantly for me. Button mashing being a requirement to progress through a game is just not good design in my opinion and I have no intention of returning to Pocket Tales now. I honestly can't believe that was a thing for a Game Boy Color game of all things as well.

Maybe my love for characters with bats and Shovel Knight is clouding my judgement, but I think people are being too harsh here. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but its a solid Shovel Knight contemporary, lots of fun albeit a little on the safe side

I was absolutely shocked by this. About as much as I was shocked by Bug Fables being better than Paper Mario, I yet again reach another JRPG that took what they were trying to be, and absolutely went for the stars.

The lead dev on r/jrpg said that his favorite JRPG was xenogears. this is very, VERY abundantly clear with the writing, and the story. Obviously I'm not gonna drop xenogears spoilers in a review for another game entirely, but that game has an incredible story.

And although this game has its own two legs to stand on, it does feel like the xenogears plot with some massive refirbishing, some different plot twist, and condensed to 30 hours instead of 60. Along with the game actually being finished, though it did seem like they are very clearly hinting towards a sequel.

The main thing I'll say about this game specifically is that Kylian is a very great realized character and somehow feels earned after all of the shit that he did throughout the game.

And Lenne is a very refreshing female lead. They literally say it themselves in game. She isn't a damsel in distress. She is a very well-rounded badass stern female lead.

The writing of the cast is also a lot better than xenogears, they were actually given screentime to do shit.

The sky armor combat is the only bone I have to pick in this game. It's nothing terrible but it feels incredibly limited compared to the on foot combat, along with some of the balancing of the fights being a little too annoying or bullcrap.

The on foot fighting is almost perfect turn-based. Fluent. Fast. A ton of room for optimizing and customization. Everything I'd personally want from an rpg is here.

An incredible experience, and an incredible homage to all of the SNES rpgs and others that this game was inspired by. I could go on for hours but just go play the game yourself. Deal? Deal.
