Bio
A good mix of atmosphere, challenge, characters, engaging gameplay and level/world design is my ideal game. Stories can enhance a game but you don’t need a story to make a good game. Also if a story is uninteresting and gets in the way of gameplay, then that’s a huge negative.

I don’t add multiplayer games to my list. I rate all games through their singleplayer or co-op campaign. The only requirement is that a game rolls credits after the final mission, level or whatever that may be.

I really don’t rate games but I write reviews because putting everything on a tierlist is really hard and pointless. I still have my top 5.

Take that game journalists!

I think Spider-Man 2 is a very safe sequel to a very safe game and is worth playing if you seriously like Spider-Man.

It is a game with great combat and movement. The MJ missions are like a 6/10 and they have definitely improved them from the first game. That one amusement part section and basically any section where you have to play as Peter are still terrible.

The story was mediocre at best and felt rushed. The dialogue, interactions and everything didn’t feel organic. The new character designs are terrible. The story had 0 impact on me because I never felt invested in any of the characters. The highs are barely enough to make this okay.

The open world is full of copy paste stuff and uninteresting side quests. It’s a notch above the first game and the traversal is more fun. Still just nothing special. It is just… okay… again.

The visuals are really good and the atmosphere when it’s raining is really nice. All the animations are really great and on the technical side of things, this game is great. I honestly was surprised sometimes how you can zoom through these highly detail environments at high speeds.

This game is harder than the first one and I definitely liked the challenge. The bosses just got easier the more time went on and they really didn’t have much more to add. It’s good but not GREAT.

Spider-Man 2 has gotten so many glowing reviews that I feel insane for being in the minority to think it is not that good.

So to round it out and take everything into consideration Spider-Man 2 in my opinion is a 7/10 game. My rating system is just a bit different and I give it a 3/5 for the recommendation of “Go play it if you honestly think that you will like it.”

It’s more of my favorite game, what did you think I was going to rate this?
