An overall enjoyable experience, but feels unfinished. The materia system isn't anywhere near where it should be for a game with an entire magic system based around it. Many of the buffs and negative status end up being incredibly useless because just beating whatever to death and ignoring it's other effects is far easier and twice as effective. Summons are also powerful, but still feel like they fall by the wayside in favor of just mashing attack and using commands when you have the ATB for it. I do hope Rebirth ends up working as a suitable second half because this is not the first game that felt incomplete because they wanted to put all of the stuff that would feel endgame in the follow up.
