Really just unnecessary. Gameplay removes stuff that was essential to making it fun in the first place, story is nothing, and the Bionis' Shoulder is a really uninteresting area to explore.

Gameplay is really just XC2 but better all around. Story is an actually nice addition to the original unlike the previous game's expansion. I don't think the Tornan titan is as great an area as some other areas in the series, but it's a lot better than the Bionis' Shoulder lmao. The Community is an overhated feature; I actually really enjoyed doing sidequests. Most of them are actually pretty good here.

Learning deathblows is really tedious and the story becomes super abridged in disc 2 but until then, the story is at least fascinating. If this had been finished I'm sure it would have been a decent game but alas

Excellent gameplay, decent story. Thematically, features interesting social commentary that ends up delving into fascinating morally gray territory by the end. Confidants are some of the best in the series with the highlights being some of the best parts of the entire game; but lots of the side characters are bogged down by mementos sidequests that undermine the themes of the main plot. The game wants you to trust your own justice but frequently presents you with confidant scenarios in which trusting their own justice isn't enough to solve their problems and they need the phantom thieves to beat those problems up instead.

The mishmash of RPG elements with musuo combat just does not work for me at all, and the story is the most boring, safe, predictable shit imaginable.

take the word charm, make it a video game. simple and intuitive yet fun and full of character

Builds upon the first game in every way imaginable. Less consistent, definitely. But absolutely more memorable.

Best mario story bar none, but the gameplay is a little clunky. Platformers and RPGs don't really go together.

Expansive and complex story that's a joy to unravel, alongside my favorite battle system of any JRPG ever. Absolutely an underrated gem.

chill vibes. excellent worldbuilding. fun gameplay although it's a little basic. story takes a while to pick up but about halfway through it becomes peak.

action commands are a little ridiculous in this game. the story is really stupid and not in a charming way.

the story is really stupid, but in a charming way; also it has fawful. gameplay is a lot more manageable than in the last one. i also like the variety you get from being able to play as bowser

i dont think the dream world is as good a secondary gameplay style as bowser was, but the game is still fun.

combat is fun, environments boring, everything else meh

The brevity and uniqueness of each short story keeps them fresh and is the game's greatest strength. While the game's mechanics themselves never change, the way you engage with them does, which makes every story feel distinct. However, a thoughtless endgame drags it down quite a lot.
