To me this game has always been the quintessential "early access, survival, crafting" game that every other game was trying to copy. I think one of the reasons for this game success is its generally more accommodating than others of the genre. I personal put survival crafting games at the bottom of my interest lists, but knowing that I could turn off food and water needs along with the game having a campaign to help push me forwards was my motivation to try this one.
I'd seen plenty of youtube coverage of the game so i new the ins and out pretty well, but I still found it an enjoyable experience. I like ocean aesthetics so that was enough for me, even if the base building was a little clunky. The base building was at least forgiving so if you placed something wrong you could just refund your materials back.
This was a nice low energy game for me to play while hanging out with my friend in voice call and chat or for listening to youtube in the background. If you want to give a survival crafting game a shot, this is one of the betters to take a crack at.

Super Mario World
1990
I do feel insecure when I play an absolute classic and I'm not completely enamoured by it. A lot of my love for Mario comes from Galaxy onward. I do really like the original Super Mario Bros. and I love playing all the styles in Mario Maker but SMB3, Super Mario 64 and now Super Mario World don't fill me with the adoration they probably deserve. As dramatic as all that sounds, I still did enjoy the game. It is very fun. The level design is great and the influence it has had on gaming is undeniable. It is remarkable how many secrets there are in the level. There are so many secret exits to levels that in some ways, I found exhausting but it does add a lot of depth to it. I did find myself getting frustrated with the game which I can admit was a skill issue. I never fully grasped the movement options with the cape. It doesn't control like Mario Maker which was hard to get used to. I tried not to use save states but there definitely were some of the later levels that I gave into the temptation. The platforming is great though and having some challenge is nice after coming from Wonder. I wish I could appreciate it more but I can still see it is a fantastic game.
Super Mario RPG

I went my whole life hearing that this game is one of the very best SNES games and the best Mario RPG. I never seriously tried to sit down and play it until the remake and found that it's um, boring?
You walk forward and fight the most braindead simple and easy JRPG battles I've ever experienced. Locations are generic and bland, and I thought that the villains being a sort of other worldly force was neat but there's so little personality anywhere that I'm just so bored with the game that I'm putting it down for a while after Booster Tower. Genuinely gobsmacked at how many people say this is better than The Thousand Year Door.
the music is amazing though obviously

The thing that makes this game compelling--the unpredictability of the physics--is also the thing that makes mastery elusive and creates unfortunate premature endings. I've totally abandoned strategy and given up on getting 3000 points. My only purpose now is making big fruit bounce. Nothing matters but big fruit. And getting 2 watermelons, so they cancel each other out. My secret dream.
