They really ripped off Smash Bros. and Fortnite then proceeded to make an infinitely worse version than both. Feels like it's marketed towards kids with us mind-numbingly boring simplicity and garbage level design, that I honestly think it's just that.

And, look, I'm not saying games targeted towards children are bad. Just look at my opinions on things like the LEGO games, Ratchet & Clank, Spyro and even Mario. This in specific is just a kind of bad example of how to do it.

Really fun for it's time, some crazy good circuits but also some poorly designed ones. A little bit jank, but this is where it feels like the Mario Kart franchise began to find it's footing. A little overhated, people always never seem to look at these games as a product of their time and expect them to live up to modern standards, such as Mario Kart 8, and I think that's extremely unfair. I imagine at the time this blew a lot of people away, you gotta think of it through those lenses.
