When it comes to story-based games - or psychological games in general - I make sure to go in as blind as possible, as I'm very sensitive to spoilers. Boy, am I glad I experienced this masterpiece blind. So, do yourself a huge favor and don't read too much beforehand: just buy and play this game already!
I've been playing video games for over 26 years, on many different platforms, in many different genres. Seldom do I come across a game that affects me on such a deep level as OMORI. A games that left me crying sobbingly for several days in a row. A soundtrack that follows me for hours everyday. A cast of characters that make me wish I could hang out with them.
I'm a content creator in both music and commentary for about 14 years, and few games/worlds have made me genuinely want to create fan content. OMORI has become one of them as I'm currently working on two music project as tribute to it.
I'm glad to have entered the world of OMORI early in its life. I definitely look forward to see this game blossom in the gaming world and to see more of its fan-made content!

One of the most lastingly interesting core concepts any driving game has ever had - a competitive arcade racer where you indirectly attack your opponents by triggering explosive stage events of increasing levels of large-scale Bayhem. It leaves you with a wonderfully unique ebb and flow where the rewards you trigger with hard-earned resources come with their own risks. Clutch moments where you dare to drift dangerously close to an idle wrecking ball or gas station for a little more speed, unsure whether an opponent is going to pull the trigger. Track-wrending power plays that act as an activatable Uncharted setpiece will make short work of the opponents in front before barreling towards the enabler themselves. Big sweaty teeth-shattering adrenaline mill incarnated as a game. Surprisingly true to its name is the sheer level of difficulty offered here. To place 1st on many of these missions feels deviously tempered by the rubber-banding for it to always come down to the last second. Compliments to the chefs on the ones and twos for some absolutely stellar sound design too.
The PC port is rough; locked to 30, no living online mode, controller support is present but you'll have to navigate the menus with the keyboard, and there is an autosave issue that can corrupt your racing profile. It's also missing one of the DLC tracks, but one of the most popular Steam guides has an easy method to mod it in.
Overall my enjoyment of the game feels a little hamstrung by the slippery controls and low content variety overall. Truly feels blistering with potential, and I hope it gets realised some day by someone willing to take up the mantle.

Equal parts charming and unsettling, Omori is an emotional game that I couldn't recommend any higher if one can handle its subject matter. The story is compelling and gradually builds toward an outstanding conclusion, the cast is very likable, the art is unique, and the soundtrack is among the best I've heard from a game. The pacing did feel a bit dragged out about halfway through and the combat is pretty simple for how lengthy the game is, but I still loved it from start to finish. Must play.

This game destroyed me completely on an emotional level, I love it.
There isn't a single character that I don't love (talking about the main group ofc). Basil my beloved, I will protect you.
An OST full of masterful pieces, beautiful visuals, great comedy, simple yet amazing combat, such a perfect plot and a stupidly gigantic attention to detail and foreshadowing, this game has it all. I can't talk about the plot because... spoilers of course. I'll just say that, by the point that the game ended, it ended my soul along with it.
Some people complain about the pacing in certain sections, and while it didn't really affect my experience, I can see where they come from. But if that is enough to bring this masterpiece of a game from a 10 to a 9, then I'm sorry to say that no game will ever be a 10.
I do not recommend you play this unless you want to spend everyday thinking about it and the depression it gave you.
