started the wizard's story! I'm also holding off the temptation to use red bricks pretty well, so thats good

28

1h 50m

considering using red bricks, I don't want to, but it might help make some of the more frustrating parts of the game a bit better. faster building does sound nice...

Finally unlocked all the weapons on the adventure map, which means that the seal on the 25k kill skills is now unlocked! I can now make the master sword (and other weapons) waaaay better

Couldn't find my old cartridge, but with the power of a newly homebrewed 3ds, I can continue to play on (mostly) intended hardware! which is much better than playing on PC and constantly trying and failing to move with rightclick like any other RTS game.
So far the game is ok. I certainly remember it being better, but now with more knowledge and skill I find myself missing features that are standard in games like starcraft, and annoyed at the terrible framerate. The game itself is pretty good, but it certainly is made harder by lack of QoL features that probably wouldn't fit well on a tiny DS screen or controller, lack of a left handed control scheme (for people like me) so i'm constantly having to use the dpad for camera movement and then my thumb for actual actions, and just lack of polish in some places, like hitboxes and AI. In specific, you have to tap in very specific spots to target an enemy, and the unit AI will constantly get stuck and just stop moving, making moving units around any solid object a pain in the ass, and more recently I've started to see them just do absolutely nothing despite being in the middle of a battle.

Got the last 2 sea charts, double checked nearly every single power gem location and still don't have it, then went to go fight the final boss without saving (critical error) and after beating the game it didn't save so that little bit of stuff I did got wiped. Oh well. Probably won't go back and get platiinum on beedle's membership or try and get that last power gem but will consider it 100% anyway, too much tedium for me to bother.

Did a lot of cleanup for 100%, got all the wisdom and courage gems, i'm missing 1 power gem, 2 treasure maps, a fuckload of beetle rewards points, and a ton of ship parts for 100%. might skip the ship parts tho, since thats just random chance and a lot of grinding.
Got lucky on the most "weird nintendo game design" part of the game, Harrow Island, aka the digging minigame.
They decided to put 4 treasure maps in this digging minigame. 4!
this isn't like LTTP's 50ish spaces, this is more like 200+.
They also said "fuck you, you have to leave the island and come back to try again" because...??? luckily, I got 3 of them in 1 play, I was expecting to sit there for hours.

No thats not a typo, I actually played for the exact same amount of time as yesterday somehow.
Nearly beat the game, then died to the final boss due to "what the fuck am i supposed to do" and decided to go for 100% before i go back. This game has a bit of bullshit every now and again. It does that classic old game bullshit where if you die and select continue it doesn't put you where you last saved (good thing) but instead where it thinks you should be, minus stuff like healing items because fuck you. also the final boss was like "draw a figure 8!" so i tried different shapes, rotations, sizes for 5-10 minutes without succeeding before looking up a video. in the video this fucker draws a tiny figure 8 faster than the game can even show visually and it works... great. So i tried that and... it worked. its jank and still doesn't work sometimes but it did work. the confusing thing is they give you this box thats like 90% of the screen to do it in and then you need to make this tiny little piece of shit shape in it. why even have that box at all???

Did the ghost ship, got 2 of the pure metals, and then went back with some new items into the ocean king temple before realizing i'd need to go back in there anyway so there wasn't much of a point

4h 54m

I did the second temple, went back and did the ocean king temple, said to myself "i'll just do a tiny bit more before i stop" and then before I knew it completed the third temple too. oops.
for some reason I just cannot do the fishing minigame, it tells me to pull to start and I do it and it just tells me i failed. nothing I do works, I managed to start it once and i don't know what the fuck i did differently.
Side note, glad they told me that I can just snap if i can't or don't want to yell into the mic, makes pols voice (so glad they brought these enemies back! always loved them.) super easy

Saw this on my shelf today and just had to pull it out again, love this game. First re-impressions, it holds up pretty damn well, the touch controls are kinda iffy and overall i would rather be using buttons instead of accidentally swinging my sword when trying to roll, or just not rolling at all. I'm fairly certain that the 3DS microphone is a bit different than the regular DS one, since the mic test seemed way more finicky, requiring me to be quite loud for it to even barely recognize it, but thats a hardware thing and not a game thing.
Linebeck is the most lovable dickhead.
Also i forgot that this game was a direct sequel to wind waker, for some reason i thought the intro to spirit tracks was the intro to this game, where you have old man wind waker pirate telling a completely different link about shit that happened years ago.
Also I got hand cramps... fun.

I don't have much to say about this game anymore, so uhhhh the imprisoned is one of the worst bosses in any game ever. I think its worse in this than it even is in skyward sword, which is impressive

09

started the twilight adventure map (didn't finish master quest yet) and holy shit this is so much better.
Its shorter, has more mission types, and overall is just better

tried out ganon mode, it is very fun, also a great way to get boss materials

03

Just realized that at the pace i'm going, with 2 and a half adventure mode maps to go, i'll have well over 200 hours in this game by the time i'm done.
hm.

Almost all the characters have master quest costumes, most of which are just recolors, but some of them go above and beyond and are just really cool.
Zelda's makes her look like Hilda from Link Between Worlds. Ruto's makes her look like Lulu, the zora singer from Majora's Mask (who i believe reused Ruto's model)
