This game won't win over anyone who hates how 2D Sonic plays, but for fans of Classic Sonic, this entry stands shoulder to shoulder with the Genesis originals. The bosses, especially the cruelly difficult ones in the post-game, are the one knock against it; Feeling both under and over baked. But overall, the game is a blast from start to finish. If you dislike this, but love Sonic Mania, it isn't Sonic games you enjoy, it's the 1990s.

Addictive gameloop, tight controls, beautiful music, gorgeous visuals, and the best story in Sonic's career. Speed stages feel seriously underbaked, but that's the only major knock against it. And yet.

The video game equivalent of jingling keys in front of a baby's face.

Sometimes classics age poorly. This is the case for SNES 'FF'. Sega CD fairs much better, especially for 2Ps. But if you're looking for solo beltscrollin' action, GBA is the definitive experience. Final Fight 4 when, Capcom?

Well this was a fun surprise! A short, cute, and imaginative return to Celeste, but in the style of 3D Mario. Allegedly made in a week, it feels more like a demo than a polished title. But it's free and a lot of fun. I wish it was a full game!

This pseudo sequel/reboot to the PS2's legendary Budokai games delivers visually, but falls flat in every other way. Shallow story mode, pace breaking new mechanics, and cut down roster/game modes makes this the least of Dimps' DBZ efforts.

Still the GOAT after 31 years. I play a lot of brawlers, old school and modern alike, and I can think of none that are this slick, this well made, this fun to pick up and play, while still having a solid level of challenge, great enemy variety, boss fights, stage design, and be this vintage. Kunio, Lee Brothers, Turtles, and Mayor Haggar all must bow to the unbeatable beast that is Sega and Ancient's Streets of Rage 2. Nobody does it better.

The easiest Final Fight, but also the most fun to play. A diverse playing roster with new Supers to pull off, faster gameplay, and a much more generous Continue system, makes this a must-play for fans of the genre. Not a perfect brawler, but a darn good one!

Bloated level design, with a sluggish early game, it's hard to believe this is the official work and AM2R is the fan work. Nearly everything about this Metroid II remake is inferior to the fan effort. The late game is great, though.

Great puzzler that surpasses the original format with a fun new gimmick. Plus, Luigi is adorable.

Simple, breezy take on the Metroidvania, hearkening back to the genre's Zelda II roots. Polished, cute, and mechanically solid. Held back by the combination of being a bit TOO simple, and by the overly cheesecake designs.

There's good ideas here. But it's a slow, miserable playing game, and brawlers live or die on game feel. The JP release is definitely better (I played both), but not by much. 1992 was the year of the beat em up. Shame no one told Technos.

Cute, breezy fun, with tough lil New Game+ that genuinely took me a few hours to beat. Despite lacking the copy abilities from later games, there's a focus and visual fidelity makes it a high tier GB original. Also the OST is wall-to-wall bops.

A lot of ink has been spilled over Tetris. I have nothing to add except that since Nintendo added it to Switch Online, my thoughts have been an endless parade of falling blocks and how best to sort them for a high score. An actual perfect video game.
