im gonna start doing the individual season logs cause i'm a lil goober like that! these won't be like super in depth, just kinda basic cause that's all that fortnite deserves!

anyways! this season kinda blows lol
it's, not better than the last season, but the addition of the mythological powers was a fun addition!
...that ultimately got ruined by the addition of waterbending! the biggest thing that all these powerups do is to add a fun sort of variation to how to fight people in the game, but waterbending tends to be a bit overpowered in every single instance that it's in. that being said, it's mostly balanced, except the icarus wings are not as useful as they should be

on the 'story' front, though, it's so inconsequential and i have no clear idea of what's actually going on, even though i am reading along with what's happening. this is my least favorite aspect of these seasons, because the story never matters in the long run, and never really makes sense in the moment. i know it didn't always used to be this way, and god i wish it was better...

star wars crossover was mid as hell, with overpriced packs and not very fun stuff that went along with the gamemodes overall, and the skins were fine, and it's really just a fine season. once again, the second season in chapter 5 where the train does absolutely nothing for the gameplay. i can't believe i've played so much of this shit lmao

The only thing holding me back from giving this game a higher rating is due to this being in early access, so some features are obviously missing. But with that being said though, this is a fantastic follow up to Hades and the framework is definitely there.

As per usual, Supergiant has crushed both the character and world design. The soundtrack is stellar and even more incorporated into the game with the second boss and the combat is as buttery smooth as ever. Having not only one but two paths was also a welcome surprise and I absolutely love the environments they incorporated.

I am curious to see how the story will play out though because as is, It feels like it’s about 75% of the way there but sort of ends abruptly once clearing for the first time. So besides that and a few balancing issues, I know we’re in good hands. Overall, I’m excited to see how this game fully evolves as we get closer to a final build!

When you streetpass someone and you happen to pick the one piece that gives you like 20 other pieces included. That shit is like crack

Local theoretical physicist fights off hundreds of humans and aliens by using the power of physics, more at 11.

the ideal arcade game. most versions fucking suck though and the fact the NES version has been preserved in any way proves the lack of God's existence (i am slightly overreacting)

i grew up in hawaii so this is an obviously biased viewpoint that i'm speaking from, but exploring the painstakingly recreated waikiki stip all the way to ala moana mall and iolani palace was a big deal to someone who hasn't been able to visit home since 2009

you can also fight a giant squid with a swiffer mop and a surfboard, which is also very true to the hawaiian experience

An addictive mobile card game that respects your time in ways that something like Hearthstone does not. And the best part is - you can play as much as you want without ever spending a dollar.

I always had trouble getting into Hearthstone specifically because of the time investment needed to play it. Marvel Snap remedies that problem with its short 6-round games that only take a few minutes to play making it easy to squeeze in a couple rounds while waiting in line somewhere, brushing your teeth, pooping, etc.

What's more is I never felt pressured to spend even a dollar on the game. Spending money in this game gives you no gameplay advantage over other players because the main thing you spend money on is just cosmetic variants of your cards. Season Passes do have a handful of cards in them you can get if you buy the pass, but all those cards are unlockable through normal gameplay.

My biggest issue with the game is that their microtransactions are insanely overpriced across the board. The battle pass is $10 and you cannot use any premium currency gained to unlock it. The amount of items you get in the pass is abysmal compared to other F2P games. You get 3 card variants themed after the season, 2 random variants, and then a ton of filler currency and XP. Additionally, the pass is only 50 tiers and the seasons only last 4 weeks. Compare that to something like Fortnite which has 100 tiers over 3 month, has 5x the number of actual items in the pass, and enough currency to buy the next season's pass. If you bought every season pass in Marvel Snap for a year, it would cost you $120 and you'd have a handful of cosmetic cards to show for it. In contrast, you could spend $10 in Fortnite for the whole year and be set as long as you play. And that's not even mentioning Marvel Snap's ludicrous bundles that cost $75 for 1 card variant, a profile picture, and some currency. While Fortnite is a game for everyone, Marvel Snap's target customer is clearly whales.

I loved the game for the amount of time I spent on it but eventually the grind set in and the absurd microtransaction costs got to me. Great game but boy do they need some new direction on the live service side.

+ Fantastic, addicting gameplay
+ Short rounds that value your time
+ Great card designs that are really satisfying to level up
+ Plenty to do in the game without ever spending a dollar

- Some of the worst microtransaction pricing I've ever seen in a game
- Terrible battle pass
- Progression becomes a grind at higher levels

It's really interesting reflecting on this season nearly 2 years later. This was Donald Mustard's final season as the 'loremaster' of the game, and you can tell because everything made afterwards seems to have nothing to do with what was being built up to. I know Fortnite and narrative might not cross a lot of people's minds, but I really appreciated the purpose it gave to each map change and new gameplay element. My friend filled me in on what I missed from Chapter 1 Season 5 - Chapter 2 Season 6, and Chapter 3 Season 2 felt really story focused with the war between the factions and all the tanks and blimps and stuff. During the end event where Slone was seemingly killed, and Jonesy+Dwayne Johnson went off to fight the true villain from the EU, it really felt like a huge milestone in the story had been met and that we were nearing a conclusion or 2nd arc. Immediately after that, this season felt like a filler episode of sorts, as nothing happened for months. Turns out that those story threads would never get resolved in any meaningful way. Furthermore, this season teased the future in terms of collabs and reception: Darth Vader, Dragonball items, and the beginning of people not hating on the game anymore. Looking back this really was the turning point where the story was ditched for insane collabs.

- Make a Greek Gods theme with new characters and mythic weapons based around said theme
- Do an Avatar collab 2 weeks into the season which completely replaces all of the Greek mythics
- As soon as the Avatar collab ends yet another Star Wars collab will start (these are basically annual)
- The season ends in less than a month
- Mfw this season should've been called Money & Mortals
