purely aesthetics and art direction. i absolutely adore the motif of "rot" and mould that's pretty much omnipresent here.
the whole thesis of the game relies on its incredibly weird and surreal visuals, but instead of super famicom or psx pixel art, space funeral's visuals are inspired by the original famicom.
an aesthetic heavily used in post-vaporwave (that probably started in shopping world jp's 2013 album focus life) and probably my favorite thing about the game.
i'm not joking.
love the colours, the sky and the whole vibe. also helps that i have a crazy-frog-phobia so this is almost like an atmospheric horror game to me.
