Decided to give the game a shot, as it was leaving Game Pass, and even though I started off feeling the game was just alright, I was really impressed by the boss designs, the overall dark content and nature of the game, and conversely the game's ability to remain hopeful in the face of all of the darkness. Really neat game!

One of the best put together gameplay experiences I've ever had in a game. The stealth mechanics are GREAT, and the sandbox that this game provides is fantastic. I also really love the story from a MGS lore and general idealistic perspective. There was so much promise in all the set ups and ideas, and it's such a shame that some things had to go unfinished and left out, like the Kingdom of the Flies mission.
The reveal at the end is also a contentious one, but one that I think perfectly demonstrates how Big Boss became the villain by the time Metal Gear 1 rolls in. The use of Venom as a pawn is cold-blooded, and shows just how dedicated to his cause he's become. To use other soldiers without discretion or care for their personal lives or choice is a disgusting tactic and shows how Big Boss fell right into what he sought to stop. (even if it was Zero's idea)
I also thought Quiet's story was really well done, especially near the end, I just wish her design wasn't so outrageous. (also, a Quiet Exit and it's difficulty spike, along with the inability to return to the ACC is genuinely nuts and brought this game down a star lmao)
I have a lot more I could say about this game, but I really loved it!
