People sure love playing as the bad guy, huh?

(Spoiler Warning)
I tend to really enjoy game mods in Source, something about how they play always scratches a good itch for me and I can tend to put up with a mediocre experience due to that. Entropy: Zero fits that spot to a tee, it's an alright HL2:E2 mod that functions and has some neat ideas but is pretty unremarkable

The tone is probably the strongest part of the game, I think it does a good job at imitating HL2's vibe despite being the story being on the opposite foot. Instead of the misery of the world having a tinge of hope due to Gordon's appearance, you're the one removing any and all hope the rebels could have had. It's really effective when clearing out the streets at the beginning where you see the rebel call-outs in a different light, and I found the most effective use to be the stealth section: you hear the rebels all chatting about how they'll go on after the war in their compound with hacked turrets. Once you sneak to the final room, you can revert the hack, leading to every turret firing for a single second causing the entire area to go dead silent. Something about that really stuck with me and I was expecting more of that throughout the game

Instead the rest of the game was mostly focused on slogging through the underground and citadel with boring puzzles and a lot of searching for the right item/place to use an item. None of the puzzles were engaging and they all felt like artificial reasons to lock the player from progressing forward instead of being more diegetic like the ones in the Half-Life games. I did shockingly find the escort section to be enjoyable, the pace at which enemies were sent at you combined with the size of the area and the speed of the escort target made it so I felt like I was constantly doing something without being overwhelmed

And then comes the two boss fights after all that, both sucking major ass. Both have issues where it's hard to tell whether the damage you're doing is affecting the boss and both bugged out on me multiple times, with the first refusing to go to the next area in its first phase and the second not taking any damage in its final phase (I had quite a few bugs throughout the brief hour and a half I spent but those two were the worst).

It's fortunate the weapons aren't the issue at least, they're more or less the same to base HL2 except they feel a bit more potent overall and the modified AR2 feels amazing. I played on the hardest difficulty but never felt like I was having too much trouble, they give you plenty of ammo and health/shield throughout the game but not too much of an excess so reckless players can still easily die. I think the only issue that comes up relating to this is the few sections with endlessly spawning enemies aren't very fun since there isn't much risk if you carefully position yourself

Entropy: Zero is an alright hour and a half to two hour experience that won't amaze you but won't enrage you. Honestly I played the game just because I wanted to play the sequel, but I'd say it was somewhat worth my time (especially because it's free)

I can see why this is classified as one of the better HL2 mods; the atmosphere is great, the combat is more weighty than the vanilla game due to the premise, and some of the set pieces are incredibly interesting.

It's not without flaws, though; both of the bosses are bad, ranging from slightly annoying to not even knowing if you're progressing till it's already over, and playing on the difficulty that makes the game most interesting leads to it being so wholly unfair that anyone who played on it would be forgiven for either cheating or giving up at some point.

ENG: Mod in which we embody a metrocop of Civil Protection that, by a train derailment, is involved and lost in the abandoned City 10.

There is no doubt that this mod points to an aesthetic never seen before in the Half-Life saga. With that cold and oppressive tones preponderant in the snow that hint at the loneliness that holds our protagonist. It's us against the rebels, the vortigaunts and the environment itself.

I also like how stories are told mostly through the visual landscape rather than the characters. That is to say, Half-Life is a saga that has always been characterized by having a strong environmental narrative. But in Entropy: Zero this stands out more by having almost no characters since, as I said before, they are all enemies.

In short, the objective of the game is to put us in the shoes of a villain of this saga, and it succeeds quite well. At our disposal we have stun batons and manhacks. On the other hand, our protagonist is dedicated to making sarcastic and biting comments about the situations around him. Matching the personality of someone who would join the Combine. And that's enough.

Starts good, but drops off very quickly and couldn't make myself finish the last chapter. The last 2 chapters are incredibly boring and dull, the puzzles are also really vague and not particularly fun.

I played this, because I wanted to join the hype for the sequel. You can skip this one though

I only played this just so I could get context for the much better sequel. There's nothing particularly awful about this mod, but there's nothing memorable either. Mediocre level design and pacing, but nothing god awful. Its fine, I've played worse.

Terrible Vortigaunt fights though.

A short good to mid mod for HL2 where you play as a metrocop shortly prior to HL2's events.
The opening sections and the rebel camp raid were fantastic, by the end of the game it starts dragging on with long underground sections, ending in a poorly designed bossfight where you don't know if you're winning until it ends.
Really, the only major reason you should be playing through this is the sequel.

Meager story (no reason to care), and the puzzles are annoying and there's too many of them.

annoying that the end part is visually the coolest part but plays terribly, cool though! love creepy combine stuff

Very interesting mod with a lot of rough edges. A lot of the puzzles are unintuitive and the debuff mechanic they added in the final third only exists as an annoyance instead of an actually challenging mechanic to overcome.

Set pieces looked great, but not a lot of effort put into visual guidance. The puzzles—decently designed as they are—were hampered by unrelated winding corridors, dimly lit expansive areas, and vertical elements the player has no obvious reason to look around for. Burnout in the latter half was prevalent and while the final boss was technically impressive, most of the problems in previous areas of the game came back to haunt it.

Hoping the dev was willing to use feedback to improve upon Entropy: Zero 2.

Early on there's a gunfight at a rebel-occupied junkyard covered with snow. Sure, it's the Source Engine but it somehow managed to look and sound good: bullets whizzing, rusting cars getting riddled with gunfire, running from place to place trying to take out snipers all the while - it was thrilling stuff.

That's in the first 30 or so minutes of this mod, and after that the metrocop vs. rebels plotline is tossed in the garbage in favor of shitty puzzles and fucking terrible boss fights. I can't overstate how bad these elements are. How samey and poorly designed the levels are. The moment you go underground is the moment the game goes under, and I really mean it. Bad puzzles. Bullet sponge enemies that spawn in front of you and OHKO you. An ESCORT MISSION. The final boss was so bad that it surprised me, even considering how lackluster the previous sections were. Dogshit.

It's like the most detested elements of game design got shoved into a blender, really amazing. This mod is pure coal.

A pretty solid half life 2 mod, but it misses the mark in a few ways that the source material excels in. For the concept of playing as an antagonist, it's handled pretty well. Being able to use tech the antagonists use while being barred from using good guy stuff helps sell the atmosphere well. Many moments are fun and fast paced, as well as challenging. However, I frequently got lost due to poor direction. I'd press a button, a sound would play, and some random door would open. It really needed some more signals, ESPECIALLY in the last chapter of the game which just sucks. The game uses darkness a bit too much. One chapter uses it very creatively, but other areas just force you to constantly be in night-vision mode which just makes everything look a bit worse. But as a fan mod, it's pretty good. I hope to see some improvements in 2 in regards to environmental design and communicating important information to the player.

A really nice concept, playing as part of the Civil Protection is a nice idea, and it's executed well! Killing civilians and rebels instead of the usual Combine troops makes a huge difference in my opinion. However, I feel like it's not explored further, and what is explored, are confusing puzzles that I had to look up the solutions of some of them online. Anyways, this is a good foundation for the sequel, which I heard is better.

ben bir ceviz ağacıyım gülhane parkında

The first two-thirds of this mod are super entertaining, has a lot of variety, and are as polished as a Half-Life campaign.
Then the last few levels get confusing and boring, and the last boss is so god fucking awful I put the difficulty on easy.

Starts good but turns to shit quickly

Direnişçi öldürüyorsunuz
Zombi öldürüyorsunuz
Vortigaunt öldürüyorsunuz
Patlama oluyor. İşte böyle bir oyun.

the game tells you to start on the highest difficulty yet its clear the modcreator didn't play with it, the game piles on shitty choices on top of piles of shit to just kill you interest in the game at end.
Dogshit boss, dogshit platforming while doing the boss, bugs after bugs stopping you from progressing until you reload a save because nothing gives you a hint at the solutions for the puzzle until you know what to look for.

2/3rds of this mod are really good and the final third is shiiit

nah man what the fuck was that final boss fight

For a mod? Pretty stellar in the beginning and it kinda gets lackluster towards the end. Still fun nonetheless, though in later sections playing on Nightmare was definitely not worth it. Reason I say that is because the massive damage increase made hit scan attacks like the final boss's enough to make me wanna break something. The final boss was honestly not being very enjoyable at all. My issues might have been skill related though so I'd recommend a starting run on normal.

This was shit and butt and if it wasn’t free i would poopie i hope 2 is less shit and butt

o furry com fetiche de gente gorda falou que é bom, então eu joguei e é bom, mas eu devo ter bugado alguma coisa pra tomar softlock em algumas partes, ou eu sou extremamente burro

it's fine!
there's plenty of cool ideas, but the use of the dialogue kinda feels, out of place sometimes, some of the puzzles are annoyingly hidden in a way that doesn't feel like a natural progression, but having to backtrack like 3 different times because you might have missed one thing, but the level design is mostly good, and again i like a lot of the ideas and concepts. it's cool, but fine in the end.
