My very first Super Smash Bros game! It was a blast playing this with my friends! Something I relly love here is the story mode, that changes according to the choices you make!

The gameplay itself was pretty inferior here to the other titles, but the aesthetic of the game was cool and it kinda has this moodiness to it.

Competitively garbage and some of the worst base mechanics is the history, and Meta Knight. Everything else is really good, LIKE REALLY GOOD. this could have been the best smash game, it just wasn't.
Bad for competitive play they tell me. But perfect for multiplayer with my siblings as a kid. did you SEE how many characters they put in this compare to melee? SO COOL
Man even after 14 years this game still holds up and still manages to be tons of fun.
Sometimes I have nightmares that this game inspired more games to add needless tripping.

The only thing holding this game back is the questionable decisions made to the combat. With tighter, more modern combat, this would arguably be the best in the series.

Everyone just hates on this game cuz tripping (which is objectively bad) and muhh not competitive can't be sweaty. The remixes are the best in the series, subspace emissary is peak, introduced third party characters for the first time, has goated stages, stage builder, tons of trophies and stickers GOD THIS SHIT IS PEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!11!!!!

fighting gameplay isn't great but the story mode saves it. i also dont love all of the new characters
The one thing this game still has over the smash games is the Sub Space story mode. It's an honest to god action adventure game which is just awesome. Even without a mode like that these games sale amazing so going through the effort adding that was cool. Seriously the other story modes of the other Smash games don't even begin to compete with this one. And the cherry on top is that it's co-op. Crazy stuff
As for the rest of the game it's okay smash stuff. Nothing too special. I know mechanically it's "Worse" than melee but I was never a crazy in depth player so it never bothered me. It was also nice to see third party characters finally added as playable fighters.
