It being racist is not the problem, it's just not very fun

Another game I often like to go back to. Probably because it brings me back in time to when I was younger and life was simpler, but it's still a ton of fun and I love the atmosphere of it even to this day

Okay gunplay, cryptic puzzles and terrible humor. People actually find these kind of "jokes" funny? At least they are so terrible that you can't even get offended by them.

Played this while my house wi-fi was down to waste time and yeah for my first boomer shooter it was pretty neat? More interested in trying out the other Build games than ever replaying this one

One of the best grenade launchers in a shooter I've yet played. Surprisingly, finding some of the ridiculously hidden keys ended up being the most frustrating part of the game, rather than the general difficulty in other areas.

good build shooter, good levels, mid enemy design

While I like the arsenal and most levels more than duke's. The annoying ass enemies in this game bring it down for me in many ways. annoying ass hit scanners galore, the translucent fucker, the suicide asshats that sometimes spawn that annoying ghost dude. Just a lot of annoyances throughout the game that could have been better if the enemies were better imo. If there is another praise I will give this game is the level progression is excellent. I still recommend to at least give it a try for the sick as fuck arsenal.

the more racist duke 3d that has pretty sick weapons

really wanted to like this game but it's by far the weakest build engine game. little content, confusing levels that just don't have as many cool setpieces as duke nukem or blood, terrible enemy design. some of the protagonist's weapons are cool, like the katana and the uzi, but most of them also feel awful to use. unfortunate. it's still worth a try, but don't get your hopes up

Certified samurai warriorTM moving like the wind, stinging like a wasp

My favorite ninja tactic? Tactical nuke of course

A FPS game with one of the best arsenals in any game, there's some redundancies but overall you don't really feel it

I'd never fault anyone for having issues with this game's humor as it is kind of in bad taste, but I also can't help how much I laugh while playing it. There's just something so endearing to me about these over the top 90s FPS games, and I honestly think this is every bit as good as Duke 3D and Blood.

The build engine allowed for many wonderful enhancements unavailable to most 2.5D games at the time. From ambient sound to dynamic light and destructible walls, the engine allowed designers to really bring the world to life like never before. However, it’s unfortunate the game cannot break out of the conventions of the day, as many levels devolve into hunts for keys instead of pulse pounding ninja action.

I know it’s not quite fair to judge the game by the standards of the day but some of these outdated designs lead to the second half of the game really getting bogged down. By the end I was just hanging on for completion more than having much fun.

Can’t wait to play the modern(-ish) remake. Lots of fun cheesy ideas here that could be a real blast if fleshed out.

Slightly worse Duke 3D with some weirdly out of place "anime" girls. It has just as many explosive weapons, a really nice katana, and a few weird ones like the head or heart. It's always funny to die to a random 1 shot from the shadow ninjas. The levels do kind of blend into each other, but the episodes and short map length help a lot. It really is weird how you get captured and nothing gets removed from you like Duke.

I don't know I don't hate it that much as others may. Well the jokes are outdated of course. Levels were fun, played the expansions also. Have hard time deciding between this and Duke. Maybe Duke was more polished tho. As a Build engine fan, i'm very biased and liked to play this very much.

Gameplay: B
- Standard Build engine affair, it's pretty good.
Weapon Selection: C
- Terrible selection. The Uzis are fine. The riot gun is a poor excuse for a shotgun, doesn't have any of the kick it should and is practically useless unless it's on burst fire. The shurikans are to Shadow Warrior what the pistol is to Doom, but worse. The missile and grenade launchers are actually pretty good and have a large capacity of ammo. The railgun is also pretty unique for 1997. The demon head is the star of the show, but it's ammo is pretty limited. The demon heart can like, insta kill a single enemy? Real useful stuff.
Maps/Level Design: D
- I don't know who designed these levels, but everything past the four initial shareware levels is a confusing labyrinth of a map. Keys are placed in random fucking holes and you have to practically solve a puzzle to find everyone. The first like, six maps actually look really good, but literally everything afterwards is a bunch of vaguely oriental gray walls.
Atmosphere: D
- I expected some cool city and I got random buildings. I don't even know how to describe them.
Overall: D
- I was really disappointed with this game. I expected much more from the holy trinity of Build engine games, but now I'm left surprised at how this abomination could even be considered among the likes of Blood and Duke Nukem 3D. 6.7/10.

This game isn't for everyone, but it doesn't change the fact that it's amazing, in every sense of that word. I sadly can't rate it 5 stars because the level layouts get so confusing that they simply didn't age well, and as much as the level design is interesting and pretty, confusion outweighs the fun in some places. That being said, there's pretty much nothing else I can say about this game that is negative. The Humor is so clever and rare that it never gets old, and the jokes said in this game will stick with me for at least couple weeks. Guns are satisfying and pleasant to use, movement is incredibly slick and smooth, and enemies can often get challenging if you don't manage your ammo well. Play it, it's free on Steam and worth playing-through, if not for the action, then for the humor alone.

Imagine if the reboot kept this voice

é o pior jogo da trilogia da build

This is a pretty good game if you don't have ears.

why is this considered one of the big three build games when you have redneck rampage that could easily replace it

This game is awesome, but by no means for everyone. It's Kung Fu duke nukem... literally....

Mostly good. The levels are mostly well done, but for a few of them needed a guide. I enjoyed some of the puzzles. I felt like the difficulty was all over the place. The final boss was also nothing special. It was fun, but I will probably not go back to it.

least favorite out of 3 build engine classic probably but still a great game with great weapons and is a classic
use this to play https://github.com/ZDoom/Raze you got the redux version you can use this source port its a better way to play than redux you can also use the free dos version on steam with it

Shadow Warrior (1997) despite some of the level design annoyances, still feels underrated to this day (including Multiplayer)

First playthrough was done via SWP source port many years ago, but I decided to playthrough the game via DOSBox on Who Want's Wang difficulty.

If you are a fan Duke Nukem 3D and Blood, please give this game a try. (It's FREE on GOG and Steam)
