muse dash but better in every aspect

better songs, better gameplay, better visual style and you don't have to pay 30$ dollars for good songs

Demo so there's some wrinkles but honestly I don't care, this game is right up my alley in everything I like. Art invokes TRIGGER? Music is funky, fresh, and gets you pumped? You fight people WITH said music? Be Gay Do Crime? The main character makes a pog joke? This is the Perfect Game

what a generous demo, and they keep adding to it and updating it! i'm here for the music first, the visuals second, and the attitude third. fortunately, the gameplay is both fun and accessible. i've played through songs with lots of safeguards, and songs with no assistance, and the game doesn't really lose the fun when it loses the challenge (for me). there's some demo-style jank, but it promises a really cool final product based on what's here.

i backed this on kickstarter, i'm in the discord server, and i'm really excited to play the full game when it's out. this review is for a free demo, why not give it a shot?

A fun rhythm game that's got a lot of charm in both gameplay and presentation. I have a few gameplay related gripes in that the camera and some of the VFX make it hard to sight-read some of the tracks when you're first getting the hang of things, but it feels responsive and satisfying to hit the notes. I'm not great at determining whether things are charted well, but I can tell what I'm meant to be following in each song (which means it's better than the average osu! track).

The writing in the little vignettes we get is a little much, but I do feel like this is a silly complaint to level at a demo and I still generally like the fact that there's a story attached to each song.

Unreasonably good for a demo-slash-side story with a good variety of songs too, definitely check it out if you're interested in rhythm games.

it's fine. the songs are kinda average and many times has underwhelming vocals, but mostly it's enjoyable with good gameplay

the aesthetic is super stylish and music feels nostalgic. you can really tell they put in a lot of love and effort into this game. definitely an experience worth trying out (i mean it's free!)

This is a fun demo! Took me a while to get used to the gameplay (the direction changes disoriented me real bad) but it felt great to finally get the hang of it. While the songs are pretty stellar, what stuck with me the most was the visual presentation. The backgrounds specifically look really pleasant and I love the implementation of a 3D hub area in a game like this. They chose great colours for everything too. The 2D art is well drawn and suits the overall aesthetic. Bonus points for the flashbacks also, they convey just enough information to make me curious about where the story is headed.

Edit - Dec 3rd, 2023:
Revisited this a few weeks back. I beat all the songs on Hard and a few on Expert with significantly less trouble than 2 years ago, but honestly the gameplay still felt more uncomfortable than I remembered. The visual clutter also messed with me a lot, even after turning it down in the settings. Maybe it's a skill issue or an issue in my brain, I dunno. Not as big into the songs anymore either, though on a positive note one of the new remixes was super good and fun to play.

fun rhythm game, i can't wait to see what the devs have in store later

While I love everything being done here aesthetically, it seems to have been at the expense of clarity. Why is the note chart split in half? Because it looks cool lol. If "Familiar" is any indication, the campaign will deliver on spectacle. Excited to see how the final product turns out.

This game feels so unique and refreshing. It has an attitude and style that I'm just absolutely addicted to and am dying to see more from. I know that this is just a side story of sorts, but if the final game is anything reflective, UNBEATABLE might just end up being something spectacular.

i don't think i've ever loved a game so much that i am this bad at

this shit rocks!!! i love this americans-making-j-rock style music, the art is beautiful. i have one big complaint though, which is that often the only reason i miss notes is because the two um, what do you call them, lines where you hit the notes, are separate, so when switching from the left side to the right or vice versa, i always miss the first couple because i can't track the distance between the notes and two different lines + the camera shifting. i think that is a bad design decision. but like damnnnn style.... that's all i care about and i love it.

also cool to see RJ lake on something, when i was 12 years old he was my favorite homestuck musician

This is a fantastic Rhythm game. Very good music, Very good artwork and overall very good Aesthetic. If you are a fan of Muse Dash this game is VERY similar in how the songs are played and the best part about this all? This game is 100% free (it almost makes you feel criminal for playing such a well done game for free).

I highly recommend this game for any music Rhythm game fan or anyone who is looking to get into the genre. This game is free and on steam!

There will be a full version of the game coming out down the line that I am going to 100% purchase.

Uma demo bem legal e também tem boas músicas, espero que seja ainda melhor na versão completa.

O visual do jogo me lembrou demais os animes da Trigger, além de ter uma atmosfera interessante.

Still very early on in development but GOD this is already super good. Still needs a few tweaks to the gameplay for the final game and a lot more customization, but for this being a quick demo it's already fantastic. Very excited for the final game.

This is super promising considering it's a demo and it already feels as good and fun to play as it does. The presentation of this already feels on point in a lot of ways, with the aesthetic being incredibly fun and stylish and bringing things to life effortlessly, immediately radiating a certain cool energy that gives me some Scott Pilgrim vibes if it were put through a fuzzy, VHS filter. The gameplay itself also adds to it, feeling decently responsive and having a snappiness about it that works well with the artstyle, and while in essence, the gameplay itself is basically just a slightly different Muse Dash, that's honestly completely fine given how different the two games are in terms of so many aspects beyond that core gameplay loop. The song selection was pretty great for the most part, even if it had the inevitable couple of far, far weaker tracks that's kinda to be expected with any game like this, with a good mix of fast paced adrenaline rushes and slightly slower but often more rhythmically complex tracks to provide a variety of challenges to the player.

I do have a couple of issues with this as well however that I definitely could see as being a problem if these trends continued as the game progressed. My biggest gripe is that with the camera switching mechanic, it sometimes felt as if what you had to do after the switch was too fast to reliably react to it if you hadn't memorised everything already, leading to a few situations where it almost felt as if the game just decided that I wasn't allowed to maintain a combo any longer. The other one is that I felt that some of the charting was a bit wonky and just a tiny bit off from what it was supposed to be, especially on any difficulty lower than hard, which left some parts feeling much less fun and satisfying than they should have by all rights. Overall though, this is a great little demo that gives me some seriously high hopes for the full game's release down the road.

Recomendo demais o download.

Other people have already said it but it's Muse Dash if Muse Dash was good.

Great songs, non-cringey characters, looks good, plays good, has a bit of plot. Very excited to see where this game goes.

This. I love aesthetic like this. Definitely my favourite rhythm game.

We're not actually sure if this will be in the final game, but White Label describes itself as a "side-story" set in the UNBEATABLE universe which seems to us like it was a special chapter released as part of their crowdfunding to promote their game, some 30-minute prototype which sat really well with us.

As described in the crowdfunding campaign, Unbeatable's plot is made fairly simple: in a world where music is made illegal, our protagonist, "Beat", defies the odds with the help of underground rock bands in a "narratively-hyperfocused" adventure game, with rhythm game intermissions. Surprisingly - not farfetched a story, and -somewhat- quite similar to the history of rock back in the Soviet Union, to a greater extent.

Most of the presented soundtrack was undeniably Japanese, reminding us of alternative rock tracks often found in Japanese openings, of which the post-hardcore shoegaze band "Mass of Fermenting Dregs" specifically came to mind. We aren't quite sure if any of the track were licensed, but the full demo soundtrack is available to buy for a mere six dollars, a full album of which instrumental tracks are added. Unbeatable might be worth its price tag in content alone, featuring many "original" high-quality tracks made by professional artists and songwriters.

In practicality, the game feels like the fairly recent and popular mobile rhythm game "Muse Dash"; however, much expanded with "The World End with You" overworld and a Gainax-inspired art style. What results is an absolutely wholesome experience, and of the sample that we saw of its cast of cheerful, unique, and colorful anime protagonists; combined with the game's unique art style and soundtrack; we quickly grew attached and nearly - instantly - wanted more.

While the gameplay could be improved, and its two-button rhythm combat gameplay doesn't translate as well from mobile to console - or PC; there is, however, a lot that wasn't presented, perhaps mini-games, or a difficulty curve which might surprise us in the final release. Nonetheless, the narrative adventure segments are sure to charm many, we feel there is definitely a little bit of everyone, at least in the concept and narrative adventure games are definitely not "in the niche" as of late.
