"Unable to stream".

Online only cutscenes? What were they smoking. I'm even connected to the internet, it just doesn't work.

bom, mas a história é meio generica

Trippy and surreal, action-packed and compelling.

Great game! Very enjoyable, rich story, beautiful graphics, good 3rd person action shooter with some time lapse/bullet time mechanics, funny powers and very nice live action serie following and improving the storytelling.

Remedy has a good achievements with me, personaly. I am a huge fan of max payne and some of this game gave me some payne's taste. Story, charisma of entire casting, good acting and also voice acting exceeded my expectations for this game. However take a note: the physics, interation of Jack with enviroment and the some repetitive mechanics could make the game tiresome, in my opinion.

I liked the gameplay. The story didn't keep me engaged and I hated the episodes. I just stopped playing one day. I plan ok picking it up again in the future just because I adore Remedy

I'm gonna keep this short-er, which is extremely unlikely for me.
I bought this game on sale, after playing Control, which I reviewed and found great.
Quantum Break is a game that to me, especially after Control, has not shown to have a very strong identity. While the game does a lot, and well, it also has some not-so-great moments. The gameplay is absolutely fun, and using time-related powers is just awesome. At the same time sometimes the game limits your movements arbitrarily and for no real reason. This kills the gameplay flow compared to something like Control, where the map is your playground. It changes camera position and gameplay speed out of nowhere, and it's usually just to have the characters slowly walking and talking, which might as well be a cutscene at that point.
Talking of gameplay flow, after each act of the game, you should sit down and see a live-action show they shot with the actors from the game. The cast is just wonderful, and one of the actresses is actually in Control! It progresses the story while offering more details and a different point of view before continuing to the next chapter with the main character.
It's a nice idea, and it means that you play half the story and watch the other half, but in a game that already struggles to make me fully enjoy its gameplay, movement, and combat system for more than 10m at a time, having to just sit in front of the PC watching a 30/40m video to understand the whole story is not necessarily what I expected when I started this completely blind. It's a nice idea, but I would have rather have a slightly longer/detailed game, standalone, and a better show that was hosted on Netflix or even on Microsoft Store for free: both standalone but connected. This is especially true considering they are quite separated, for example, in the game you meet this character called Burke, but you get to see him twice in the game because he's mostly one of the show's characters.
This is why I find it absurd not to develop both ideas more to get a better end result: a full game and a full show that together complete each other without neither being forced on the player. A bit like Final Fantasy's XV Kingsglaive, which is a separate movie that then connects to one of the DLCs, but it doesn't force you into a 2h movie while playing - not the best example, I am aware.
Another thing I didn't appreciate about the show is that it's only possible to stream it on Steam, while on Microsoft Store it can be downloaded separately for offline play, which is even worse than a DRM. The show is high resolution and it requires a lot of bandwidth to stream it, if you don't have a strong internet connection or don't have it all you won't be able to experience the whole game. Most importantly, though, is that if Remedy servers close and they don't let us stream this - massive - 75GB show anymore, this paid licensed version of the game is worse than a pirated one.

In conclusion, it's not a bad game, especially if you're into heavy narrative titles as I am. Gameplay, when allowed, it's really fun and I would suggest it. It's a cool idea, but it's the execution that is lacking for me.
Hopefully, there will be a sequel!

5/10,

this is without a doubt the weakest Remedy game...
still better than most releases

An always-online singleplayer game that suffers from nearly every symptom of early 2010's "cinematic game design". Scripted, linear, animation-centric, sluggish and unresponsive. With unacceptable checkpoint design and ridiculous loading times even on very fast hardware. Half the story is conveyed via TV show episodes that are streamed from external servers instead of installed locally, and half the exposition of the rest is delivered via incessant overly verbose text-only readables. The only person I can recommend this to is a Sam Lake super-fan, and even then I advise only to watch a playthrough. It's not worth being an interactive product. Also, the day those servers go down, you will lose half of what you paid for.

I bet many players uninstalled in Act 4 part 1. A puzzle with multiple consecutive insta-death timing challenges, and a single failure sends you back before two ladder climbs, two walking sections, four cutscenes and an entire miniboss fight. It's obvious that the checkpoints didn't go through a single second of QA.

- Interesting game it sadly just feel like wasted potential where the game parts feel too little but at the same feel too long at the same time.
- The show/game dynamic is interesting but sadly does not really hit with the intended desire.
- The game itself is sadly just mediocre.

Very fun, interesting and different game. Only problem is performance issue on pc. the decision you make in this game is like voting in democratic presidential election, they don't really matter and only make minor changes.

Quantum Break deserves a round of applause for pushing the boundaries of video game storytelling with its top-tier writing and live-action segments. Aidan Gillen delivers a fantastic performance as the tech villain, really anchoring the game's tone. I have to say I actually enjoyed the TV show aspect a lot; it added more depth to the otherwise short story and turned out to be a creative decision that truly paid off. It's rare to see an AAA title that doesn't conform to the usual formulas, but it takes a fresh approach by pulling in well-known actors and focusing heavily on narrative development as the game progresses. That said, my only gripe is that the choices you make as Serene don't actually affect the story as much as the game alludes to. I also really enjoyed Beth Wilder's character and hope we get to see more of her if there's ever a sequel!

a bit better than i had thought but still easily the black sheep of Remedy's catalog (well hopefully, i still need to play Alan Wake 2 after i replay Control and do its DLC) with nothing else coming close.

i don't know, i just find myself feeling more charitable about it all in a post-Control world. like yeah the gameplay is serviceable and the powers themselves leave barely any impression but when you look at it as something of a prototype for what was to come it's whatever.

the tv show format is interesting, though it is a gag that it came years late after the whole mess with Xbox/Microsoft and tv (to think i find myself craving for that vs the past few days at this point...) among other things. i'm not usually into time travel stories but i enjoyed the characters and was mildly invested. it's a bummer this left things open but we'll probably never see it followed up on. i think Remedy did something with similar but not the same character stand-ins or at least the same cast members later on so it's fine.

final boss is bad to a baffling extent still, especially with the load times this game has. what the hell were they thinking?

The game is amazing, but its pacing is completely disrupted by a TV show inserted between chapters. Thankfully it's not 100% need to have a full picture for the story.

What I liked:
The story is honestly one of the best I've seen in gaming in recent years. It's extremely complex and hard to follow at times, but it keeps you invested with great characters, dialogue, events, etc. The game's scientific focus that explains time-travel in a believable way made the story and concept that much better.

The way that the story was told was also quite nice. I liked having a mix of in-game cutscenes and the TV show that featured many of the same characters. It was cool seeing the in-game characters irl, as everyone is modelled after an actor (most of which are quite well-known). The show gave me a chance to chill and sit back for 30ish minutes while I got more of the awesome story and some payoff from the choices I chose. I also liked the 'ripples' that could be found in-game that would add some minor easter eggs in the show.

Junctions - although this game was criticized for having choices that aren't 'meaningful' and don't affect much in the story, I quite enjoyed seeing how the limited choices would play out and deliver a different narrative, even if it didn't have implications for the one ending of the game. Your choices determine some of the characters you work with and live/die throughout the course of the story - that's enough for me.

The game also looks really really good, especially with all of the time effects that come from your abilities or that just naturally occur in the game world. Using 'time blast' on a group of enemies is satisfying every single time.

The same is with the sound design - especially with sounds related to time, it's impressive how well the sound design conveys the notion of time manipulation, with the violent and jagged sounds of a time stutter, or a stretched out scream of an enemy killed in that time stutter. It's all perfect.

What I didn't quite like:
Although I always try to go for collectibles in any game, I don't like how integral these are to the story. Missing a document may deprive you of a key detail in the story. The amount of collectibles is also very high - constantly pausing the game to read them can get a little tedious.

Chronon Sources - the resource that is used to upgrade your abilities - are not earned in any way, rather they have to be found in places that are most often off the beaten path and easy to miss. In other words, players are compelled to go places where they may not feel is right (as NPCs you may be following in a given mission may make it super clear), otherwise they risk having weak abilities.

The combat is really simple, and seems to lack some basic features that most third-person shooters have: you can't use stealth, you can't use the scopes of weapons that clearly have them, you can't melee or even sprint outside of some very specific instances tied to your powers,

The quality of the show felt a little off. It's hard to explain, as I mentioned above that I generally liked the stories and the acting in the show. But the way it was shot felt like some indie FMV game.

A lot of other minor things bugged me, like missing subtitles for audio diaries, radios, as well as audio diaries only playing through one ear.

Conclusion:

If you're considering buying this game, don't expect some typical third-person shooter with an emphasis on action. This game is HEAVY on the story, and the TV show just might not be your thing. I did not enjoy this game for its deep gameplay mechanics or progression system, but rather the story that it told in different ways.

Kind of boring, kind of interesting. Very flat characters. A time travel story that seems to actually make sense somehow. I'm not a huge fan of 'choices have consequences' game narratives. Maybe get it if it's on sale? I only played it to complete my Remedy catalogue.

Still, my instinct is to go easy on this game in terms of criticism. I found the story forgettable, but you can see the way that Remedy was experimenting with live action and more ambitious storytelling here, something that seemed to really pay off in Control and even more so in Alan Wake II.

Plot Twist

I really like the story and the tv show - unfortunately, gameplay is 'ok' at best.

A história é boa mas é W+Atirar

I’m gonna die bedofe they ever make a sequel
