wasn't actually timing it but i wanna say this run was maybe like 1h20m, 16 star again
maybe one day i'll actually try and devote myself more to this game and learn/practice it a little better instead of just throwing up rough "attempts" for the hell of it lol

Not my favorite Mario cause of the movement but revolutionary and cool

i remember throwing my ds because bowser shit on me.. def need to play it again.

My childhood copy of this game has a massive gash on the artwork. I guess it really is true that every copy of Mario 64 is personalized.

The music is so joyful what the fuck

Yeah I played it on the wii the first time I played so what

Completed as part of an Archipelago.

EL VIDEOGAME QUE REVOLUCIONO EL 3D

The camera sucks half the stages suck walljumping sucks and dying is overly punishing this is one of the best 3D platformers every made and not enough games took the right lessons from it.

The lack of a double jump or gliding and the near complete lack of air control makes platforming actually rewarding unlike most other 3D platformers. I get that the genre is mostly aimed at toddlers but kids fucking loved Mario 64 so I don't want to hear any excuses.
Mario 64 also manages to avoid the "every collectible is just lying on the ground" problem that every other collectathon including mario odyssey has by having some platforming or exploring involved behind getting most stars.
What I'm trying to say is that I fucking hate Banjo Kazooie. Bitch fuck Banjo Kazooie and its fans hope they get exactly one new game and gruntilda marries a man.

changed 3d gaming, i could play this game anytime and have a blast

VERY overrated. Camera NEVER cooperates. Controls are too slippery. I could go on.

Goated game. Had to learn this motherfucker in and out to get a good sub 20 on my 16-star but always been a fan of this game since I had it on my wii and later speedrunning it. Super impressive leap for Nintendo, Mario, platformers, and game design as a whole. Every level is classic and a joy to explore and run around in finding secrets. Overworld is insane too. No complaints.

The first game that I played in my life. (1999~2000)
I love this game in all aspects, the gameplay is good, the levels are fun, the star missions are creative at the most part, and the soundtrack OMG the "Dire, Dire Docks" song, so gracefully.
This is one of the games that I beat at least 2 or 3 times a year.
And also the mod community makes this game feel so alive nowadays.

This game is a monument and I don't know if there is much I can add to the discussion. There's a reason this game has endured in the fandom for this long. Always a fun time when I boot this game up.

While a technical marvel for the time, the game itself is only just fine. It hasn't aged particularly poorly, but it hasn't aged particularly well either.

Yoshi is real.

Half of my deaths were from that nightmarish camera. Still a delight from start to finish.

Every moment is pain. Would replay again for 120 Stars

It is what it is, it's Mario 64. The movement can be really fun but the physics are often fucky, the camera is abysmal and the level design is very hit or miss. For the time it came out, absolutely insane. In 2024? It is just a really good 3D platformer.

Feels weirdly off brand in today's modern mario world, its fun to see people slam stuff in there just pondering through what a 3d game would be like

I am too weak of heart to control this willful plumber man even though I am impressed by the intricate nature of his physical existence

There is no way the most "glitch means feature" game ever can't get 5 stars every single time.

It is Super Mario 64. It is legendary and set the standard for every platformer to come. It still holds up today honestly. Let alone, what is has done for the speed running community is insane.

Absolute classic. I was on my way to completing Banjo-Tooie but then the final boss was really getting to me, so I decided to put it aside and pick up Super Mario 64. For the past six years, I've been going through the Mario games chronologically. Although, I still need to play Super Mario RPG.

I actually played this game on the DS, but never 100% completed it because the later worlds were really difficult for me at the time. But, surprisingly, there is a good chunk of this game I forgot. I definitely forgot about 50% of the game.

I instantly fell in love with the early 3D computer graphics. I love the checkerboard patterns, the colours and the "city in the clouds" aesthetic every world presents. The missions are super fun to complete and the music is incredible. "Dire, Dire Docks" is obviously a phenomenal score, but I also think the track "Cave Dungeon" (heard in Hazy Maze Cave and Wet-Dry World) is underrated.

The missions are all pretty fun but collecting 100 coins in each world tested my patience, especially in Shifting Sand Land and Tall, Tall Mountain. Actually, the mission where you get the snowman's head to roll into its body is a little annoying. The extra area in Wet-Dry World where the red coins are located is sweet. Honestly, Wet-Dry World might be my favourite world just for the aesthetic alone. It's got that vapour-wave, album cover look to it that made me take my time to complete the mission and appreciate the art direction. From a level design perspective, Cool Cool Mountain is probably the best..or the classic Bob-Omb Battlefield. I like how King Boo would appear in various missions inside Big Boo's Haunt. I already knew about the killer piano, so it didn't startle me. Tiny-Huge Island has a great dual world mechanic and I love the paintings you enter to get to these worlds. This is probably an unpopular opinion but Rainbow Rain is awesome. The water levels are also incredible and I will die on this hill.

Overall, it was nice to power through this game. I might go back and play Mario RPG, but now that summer is approaching I will likely replay Super Mario Sunshine to 100% completion

Pretty good game but the camera is worse than I remember
