Legendary game from a legendary year in gaming. Not much to fault it for, has a pretty good story with a classic twist, memorable characters, wide range of weapons and abilities for different playstyles, an amazing collection of music in the soundtrack that fits the time period the game takes place in, and a system that takes player choice into account (affecting the ending). Only things I can really criticize are the combat system feeling a little clunky having to switch entirely between plasmids and guns, the hacking system took a bit too much time away from the main action, and the game was not too hard even on the higher difficulty settings. Alternate game modes were not too crazy, but added some more content to keep me invested in the game.

Weirdly I went into playing this completely cold and not too sure what to expect. I assumed it would be more story-heavy and instead was present with a quirky but fun FPS which came with some strong narrative. The twist is worth playing for and the way the game progresses is satisfying as you gain more skills and upgrade yourself.

A really well-built and well-thought-out world, with plenty of variety in enemies and characters you meet and environments which you have to face. Glad I eventually played.

BioShock oynadığım en farklı Birinci Şahıs Nişancı oyunlarından biri. Günümüz standartları için biraz eskimiş ve 13 senelik bir oyun olsa da ben oynarken oldukça keyif aldım. Özellikle Rapture'ın atmosferi inanılmaz, oyun Rapture atmosferi ile birlikte distopyayı oyuna muhteşem bir şekilde aktarmış. Hikaye olarak da bu oyunu kendisine yakın tarihlerde çıkan diğer muadil Birinci Şahıs Nişancı oyunlarına göre daha başarılı bulduğumu söylemeliyim. Oyun hikaye konusunda bir başyapıt değil fakat dediğim gibi başarılı. Elbette oyunun eksikleri de var, biraz da onlardan bahsedeyim.


Ana karakterimizin hiç konuşmaması ve bir kişiliğe sahip olmaması bana kalırsa en büyük eksiklik. Ortada fena olmayan bir hikaye var, fazla derin olmasa bile en azından bir benliğe sahip bir ana karakter konularak hikaye taçlandırılabilirdi ama bunu yapmamayı tercih etmişler. Ayrıca hikaye anlatımı konusunda da bazı sıkıntılar mevcut. Hikayeyi ve karakterleri tam olarak anlayabilmemiz içi sağdan soldan topladığımız kasetleri dinlememiz gerekiyor, bunlar da zorunlu olmadığı ve oyun tarafından bize gösterilmediği için ilk oynayışta hikayeyi anlamayı biraz zorlaştırıyor. Bunun yerine daha az zahmet verici ve sadece ana hikayeyi takip ederek tüm soru işaretlerini anlamamı sağlayan bir hikaye anlatımını tercih ederdim.


BioShock, hikaye sunumu konusunda eksiklikleri olsa da farklı oynanışı ve sunduğu harika atmosfer ile Birinci Şahıs Nişancı türünün başarılı örneklerinden biri.

Was fun, especially the sections where you got attacked by like 12 people at once, but I think the ammo limitations hurt the experience more than they helped, especially with how oddly tanky some of the regular human enemies were. I ended up cheating money epically.

Aesthetics: 9/10
Nice artdeco style, remaster's graphics look solid, lots of atmosphere, good theme

Story: 7.5/10
I'm biased because I heard "would you kindly" years ago so I already knew atlas was going to betray me, some parts didn't really make any sense to me, but other than that was okay. Rapture was also interesting as a concept and I want to know more about what happened.

Characters: 9/10
All well written and very well voice acted, interesting enough to make me want to learn more about them and actually listen to the audio tapes.
