RPGs I've Beaten Ranked

I'll try to make this list more interesting someday.

My favorite RPG ever made. There's so much I love about it. I really just have no real big issues with the game. It made me happy from beginning to end. An experience I'll never forget.
There's so much I love about this game and it was a game I put so many hours into back when it came out. I still have that 100% save file for it. Literally the only issue I have with it is that one train boss, that boss sucks.
I have more memories with Explorers of Darkness but this is the better game and man I miss this series sometimes.
So many hours were poured into this game, I wasn't even intending to ever get it back then. I only bought it cause I was able to get it super cheap when a store was going out of business. There was so much to love about this game for me and while I don't play it anymore, that game was one of the best things from the earlier days.
This game is so great! There's so much to love about it and while it's not perfect, I had a blast playing this. I hope some of the other Dragon Quest games leave an impact like this when I get to them.
A great cast of characters, setting, and gameplay. There's so much to love about this game. I was impressed how much I enjoyed it. If it wasn't for some of the grinding later on, I probably would have ranked it even higher. You're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't at least tried this game.
A really great RPG with a story that wowed me and really fun gameplay. The game also has some amazing sound and graphics for 1992 especially the music. Outside of a few nitpicks, I had a really good time with this one. It's a must play!
This game is so much fun to me even though it has it's issues. It's difficulty is probably one of its weaker aspects IMO. It can be a little mindless and while I haven't played Square's other SNES RPGs, I assume those required more strategy then this game to beat. Yet I still love this game somehow like I've beaten it three times and can't really explain why I adore it so much.
Still a great game but is more just an alternative to the original if you lack legitimate access to it. The issues I had with it weren't fixed and while it does have some nice improvements, stuff like the inconsistent framerate make me kind of prefer the original.
This is such a fun game with some great gameplay and writing. I also just have a lot of nostalgia for it, despite that, it's also the only game in the series I finished. Kind of odd thinking about it.
I really like a lot of things about this game, though I won't lie it took me many many hours to actually enjoy the gameplay but once I got into it, I really liked it even if I'm awful at this game. Also I just really love the characters, they were so much fun.
A good start to a fun and hilarious RPG series. The game is pretty fun, looks good, and it's written pretty well. Sadly it's 2nd half does hurt the game for me a bit but it's still very fun and easily worth playing.
A really fun game that is of short length. It's got a calm feel to it even moreso then the Ryza game I played. It's simple and I wish I could replay it more but I got too many games to play.
Really fun RPG and it made me more curious of the Atelier franchise. Also the music is really freaking good.
A very fun game from my childhood, this was sadly a game that got broken so long ago and didn't get a new copy until 2021. I still really enjoyed it even if I swear this game was way too hard for me back then, took me so long to beat Rayquaza.
I really like this game but at the same time I really wish some parts of the game didn't bring the game down for me. It's got some really good stuff and the story is pretty good from the Blue Lions route I did. It's also kind of ugly graphically to the point it can be distracting. Otherwise though, it's still a very fun game!
It's a fun and charming game especially for it's time. I was surprised I even liked it due to how many are negative towards this game. Maybe I'm overrating this placement but I just had a lot of fun with this.
A fun short Action RPG. It can be a bit repetitive but I really enjoy the concept here and the game is pretty fun all the way through. Was glad this one didn't disappoint.
I like this game a lot like I enjoyed my time but for some reason I don't think I enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Must be because I played the remake first.
A very good classic RPG. It's a pretty fun time if basic at times. The plot isn't the most interesting but it's good for the time. The port also does some nice quality of life changes.
I like this game out of bias alone. Is it glitchy? Yes. Is it poorly made in a lot of ways? Yes. But I still really like it, I didn't even grow up with this game, I don't know how this happened.
Just put what I said for Pokemon Blue but in Japanese. Also why is the Koffing sprite in this game better than the later Blue version? That's dumb.
A fun start to the Mana series despite the issues. Just really enjoyed my time with it. Gameplay was pretty fun and engaging and the story was nice for a Game Boy game.
My favorite of the GG trilogy. It's really funny and it's a pretty easy breezy game for me to enjoy. It's got some problems but it's easy to look past them. It still has what makes the Madou series just a fun series to experience.
A lot of people really don't like this game, I don't really agree with them. I thought this was an improvement over what Fates Birthright did which was my first FE game. I really liked the characters in this game and while the plot has issues for me it was still fun. Another issue I have with the game is that I'm just really awful at it for some reason.
A fun dungeon crawler game with a lot of charm. It's one of the few Game Gear games I actually enjoy.
A fun game and a bit overhated in my opinion. I think my only problem with this game from what I remember was that it was way too easy even for Mario. Though I remember fighting every enemy I saw in that game so maybe that was my fault. If I had a working copy I would probably replay it to give better thoughts on it.
A good game but man some of the maps in this game are terrible. The plot and characters are really not interesting either sadly. The gameplay really carries this one.
My first FE game and I honestly enjoyed it even if the story is really boring to me. Maybe if I played other FE games I might have enjoyed this less but I guess that's for a different alternative universe.
(NES version. Played a sprite hack where the player character is Marisa from Touhou)
A fun game with some questionable and cryptic choices made with the game design. It's fun seeing the series be done in the Action RPG format. The game is pretty well designed but can be a bit too hard in places. It's also not too grindy thankfully.
A game that tried to be very different from the first and even with some issues, I enjoyed it. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting when going into this title.
I'm gonna be real with you. I played this when it launched. Finished it like a few days after and went "Yeah, that was fun." Never touched it since. I don't even remember much about it, it's weird.
A fun landmark title that is still playable and enjoyable to this day with a nice presentation and gameplay. I've gotten more appreciate for the first Ys since I've beaten this release of the original version.
A fun game hurt by some issues especially the awful points system. It's still got stuff that makes Madou Monogatari a good series but it's a shame it falters in some areas. Still a good game to me anyway.
A fun but short action RPG. It's kind of all over the place in difficulty and got really easy by the end but it can be fun and it's multiplayer. I just wish there was more variety.
A game with potential to be really good but is sadly hindered by trying to make the game way too challenging and grindy. There's good moments here and some really nice stuff here too but the negatives bring the game down making it worse than the previous game. Such a shame.
A good start to the series. It has some issues but it has a good presentation and the battles can feel satisfying. There's nice customization too. Probably better in rereleases but this is still playable and enjoyable. Just not close to my favorite thing in the world.
A rerelease of the original Hydlide. It was a fun time despite the infamous reception it has stateside. Nothing outstanding but a fun game for 1984. Unsure if I will play more Hydlide games in the future.
This game was good in that its got some fun gameplay but the story kind of bored me. It's got some good positives here and there. For the $1 I payed for it, it was a fun time.
This game has a really good story that I wish was adapted into an anime but otherwise, the game is very flawed. If the gameplay was a lot better and was more balanced I would like it a lot more. Still I'm happy I beat it.
A game that barely even qualifies as an RPG. It came out very late on the Super Famicom and it feels a bit unimpressive with a very simplify RPG structure and very tepid gameplay and visuals. It's not a bad distraction but it could be better. At least nothing is bad about the game.
I'm not sure if my taste in RPGs have changed but Pokemon has just never really been as fun to me since White 1. I was enjoying this game in the first half but kind of felt like I was going on autopilot for the 2nd half. It's a shame but I guess that's just how I am.
A game that starts off good but ends up getting worse by the second half with some annoying navigation and padding. The game does have an excellent presentation at least.
(SNES Version)
A decent sidescrolling action RPG. It reminds me a bit of Popful Mail (does that count as an RPG? Huh never thought about that). It's got some issues but I wouldn't say I fully hated it but there's probably a good reason they never went back to this gameplay style much.
I can understand why people hate this game but I found it mostly playable if a bit dull. The gimmick for this game isn't also that special to be honest. It's just a shame it lost so much of what made the previous game so good.
The gameplay in this game just isn't good imo. The battle system is too easy to the point the systems behind it are a waste and the dungeon design is some of the worst I've seen. It makes up for it having a good narrative and writing. The presentation is nice too. Just a shame the actual gameplay brings the game down a lot.
It was a fine game but it's got a nice charm to it. I can't be too harsh on it even if a lot of the game is just grinding.
A game that is very uninteresting especially at the time. It has cool ideas but can't do anything with them due to the easy difficulty. It's hard to recommend this one despite it not being bad.
So simple that it's really only good for fans of the show. It's playable at best and the dialogue is probably the best part of the game.
A simple game that really just wasn't something that should have came out after the highly praised Saturn game. It's a shame because the series deserved better considering how popular RPGs are on the Super Famicom.
A bad RPG with a weird battle system, way too easy difficulty and is a disservice to the Anime. It's also this weird what if scenario for the story so things that happened in the anime don't happen here. Can't recommend, just watch the amazing anime instead.

(Famicom Version)
This is a version of Hydlide but with elements of Hydlide II in it. Sadly it has issues that keep it from being even close to good quality. It's not the worst thing ever and it's not as bad as the US would make you think it is but I would still rather play the PC-88 version.
This game's battle mechanics are some of the worst I've seen from an RPG. I literally only played this just to see the Sailor Moon stuff. Why have I beaten this game 6 times?

I've decided to remove some RPGs off this list for reasons of I wanna have this list mostly not be nostalgia bias. I wanna replay some of them to have a more current opinion to have the list feel more idk genuine? Though a couple have stayed for reasons.

"Literally the only issue I have with it is that one train boss, that boss sucks." fr fuck that boss, then again the Giant Bowser sections were always my least favorite of the minigame diversions

Oh wow I finally did it, 50 RPGs! Nice, hope I'll one day get to 100.
